  • patman, what a shame that the turf sale fell through:(. Is it something that you can store and sell at some future date, or does it die off if not laid straight away? Good luck with it anyway:beer:

Congratulations on getting a job:T. The money will come in handy in the run up to Christmas;).

We have TSB current accounts which pay 5% on £2k. Due to drop to 3% on £1.5K from January, but still worth having.

Well, just when everything was going well and I'd been feeling so happy that my £1000 EF had stayed untouched my laptop now seems to be on its last legs:mad:

It was secondhand when I bought it, it was all I could afford at the time when my trusty old desktop finally died, and for the money I paid I didn't expect too much. Had been reasonably reliable for the first 18 months but the battery has totally 'had it' . Need to use it permanently plugged in which is nigh impossible a lot of the time. I don't feel like forking out on a new battery as everything else is playing up too. Although I've done several System restores and other simple DIY fixes it is becoming unusable:mad:. This is probably the first time all week that I've managed a whole, longish post without it freezing or shutting down. I'm not assuming it's miraculously fixed itself but it's nice having it working for an hour or two tonight:j

I need a reliable computer desperately and may have to bite the bullet and buy another asap. Was hoping it would limp along until Black Friday when I might snap up a bargain but it looks like I was over-optimistic. Will obviously spend as little as I can get away with, maybe buy 'used' again. Whatever I get my EF will suffer but its things like this that it's there for after all;)

CBC, never mind. I bought a new laptop for £300 back in January. As it was a Toshiba, I wisely spent £50 on a 4 year European warranty.

Anyway, job is trundelling along, although it is quite boring just standing around waitig for lorries to arrive.

The EF has taken a hit and is down to £120 as I have txed £500 to y main account to cover my bills whilst my wages start to come in.

    Thanks, patman:)

I was thinking of something just to tide me over until my DMP is paid off in 3 years time and all my money is my own again. I can probably run to £300 ish if I really have to. I'd dearly love a MacBook, many of my friends have them and swear by them (unlike my technology which I don't swear by but swear at;)). The cost even of a refurbished one is exorbitant in my current financial state though. Plus, my local used computer shops which I'm familiar with and can trust never have Macs:(. It would mean buying online from someone I don't know and I'm too wary of parting with such a lot of money that way now every penny is so precious:eek:. There's always Apple's refurbished department but the last time I looked the pretty basic model I considered was almost £800 and that was a refurbished 2012 model.

Must get something sorted sooner rather than later though.

Glad the job is going OK:T but sorry it's boring. I've had plenty of them in my time;)

    Well done swimming.
Started to round down my main account as I have wages coming in again. Must get around to updating YNAB as I don't think I have done it for months.

A big well done to everyone who is continuing to add to theirs and to those who have had to use their EF, don't worry......that's what it's there for. ;)
