Phones 4U collapses into administration

Hi,
I had a phone in for repair when phone4u went into administartion. On the sunday 14th i spoke to someone and they said it hadnt been repaired yet. I have been trying to call the handset repair centre but no joy. Are they still going to repair my phone, how can i get it back?
If the repair hasn't started it's unlikely to be done now (I'd think). More likely you'll get it sent back and have to send it to the manufacturer for a fix...0 -
I sent an email to Life and got this reply today:
'Thanks for your email regarding the status of all LIFE mobile contracts.
I can confirm that despite recent events, all customer contracts through LIFE Mobile are unaffected and will continue as normal for their respective contractual periods.
Should you have any further issues we will be open as normal to provide the best service possible to our existing customers.
Thank you once again for your email and I hope this eliminates any concerns you may have.'
Pity as I wanted to get a new phone but I'm still in contract for another 6 months lol0 -

There was never really much chance of that, the network that the MVNO runs on would probably have just taken over the contracts if Life couldn't continue operation.====0 -
"Shops closed while we try to find a buyer" is just administrator talk. If there was a business to save, it would still be trading right up to the end just like any other retailer that has gone into admin in the past e.g Woolworths, HMV, etc.
Phones4U have no business left after the networks pulled out so I doubt they will ever be bought out and opened again.
Possibly the brand name will be sold off and become some low key online phone shop, like how the Woolworths brand was sold.0 -
I am on the jump contract too but will be challenging it as I am paying for a premium service which through no fault of my own can no longer be honored by the provider, I wont be able to jump again I assume and will have no handset provider when my contract is up? surely this is a breach of their own contract?
What 'premium' service are you paying for? Your simply paying off your handset? You expect to be able to keep your phone without paying it in full?0 -
Although they say they were profitable and have cash in the bank, it has also been said that they have more debt secured on the company than cash in the bank. As ever, consumers will be at the back of the line when it comes to whatever money, if any, is left at the end.
Phones 4u Ltd is a subsidairy of Phones4u Finance plc, which is also in administration.

Phones4u Finance plc had £430m of 9.500% Senior Secured Notes due 2018 which were quoted on the Irish Stock Exchange, trading of which has now been suspended.

That £430m is secured by a fixed and floating charge on the assets of the guarantor and its subsidiaries. Or as we might say in English, 'pretty much everything'.0 -
My sister got her phone through Phones4U on the Vodaphone network. Her phone isn't working, i've read the official MSE report & it says all the networks were still working but didn't mention Vodaphone. Is anyone else with Vodaphone & is your phone still working?0
-
Yes mine is fine, best calling vodafone0

The phone not working has zilch to do with where you got your contract from (unless the dealer failed to set up the contract with the network in the first place) - the airtime contract will carry on as normal, whatever the network.0

Just to let anyone concerned know I received my £84 cash back for a Life network mobile phone contract taken out 1 month ago today (16/09/14). It was showing as confirmed yesterday, and payable today, being cautious I took the payout.
Feel sorry for phones 4u, seemed to offer the best deals with cashback, driven out of the marketplace by big bully networks. Maybe BC Partners (phones 4u owner) will buy into these networks and give them a taste of their own medicine.0
