Phones 4U collapses into administration

After a bunch of us got outright lied to by a P4U salesmen (twice!) when we had just turned 18 (thus legally able to be scammed), we decided never to set foot in their stores again.
I knew their dodgy business practices would catch up with them one day and feel sorry for anyone who has dealt with them recently.
Actually, the deal that P4U offered us 9 years ago ended up being cheaper than we would have got elsewhere, but the whole experience was poor. In the past 2-3 years, there have always been far cheaper deals available from networks directly or online.0 -
Anyone trying to get out of jump contract due to breach of contract are out of luck. As I said in an earlier post, my partner rang them the other day and they offered him a jump of handsets if he wanted it. So no loss of 'premium' service. Although I don't see what's premium about a service that you ultimately end up paying extortionate amounts of money for! This site rocks and has saved me loads -
thanks to all those that post on the forums and have saved me money0 -
I have a life mobile contract my phone was cut off I rang them they tried to say I hadn't paid. I pointed out I had could they tell me what was wrong they came back to me and said that they had inadvertently cancelled the contract. they said that they would get back to me in 5 days I said this was not good enough does this have anything to do with phones for you they told me that they are in administration and someone will contact me in 5 days. Not happy0

Sent my phone to be repaired last week. Called today and they don't know what they are doing about them - I should call back again next week!
Surely they have to send it back as it doesn't belong to them? Even if they don't repair it!0 -
It's probably gone out to a third party for repair, or to the manufacturer's service centre. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

My phone too is away via P4U for repair. Have spoken to repair centre - called Manufacturers Accredited Repair Centre (MRC) who say they are independent of P4U and will complete repair and return phone directly to me. Took a bit of getting through on 0844 87122690

Hi, my partner has an iPhone at the minute from phones 4u but under 02 contract. If there's a fault with the phone itself not the network who repairs it?0

In the first 12 month, just go to an Apple store. After that you'll need to buy Apples extended service plan or just wing it.
Your network won't touch it, as they didn't supply it.0 -
Interesting aside on the BBC website it says that P4U had the most shops:
- Phones 4U - 550
- EE - 520
- 02 - 450
- Vodafone - 360 rising to 500
