Phones 4U collapses into administration

If there's a fault with the phone ie something stops working properly does the rule still apply that if it's within 6 years of purchase the manufacturer has to repair it regardless of where it was bought even if it's a mobile phone? I know it applies to electrical goods but no harm in asking0

My husband got a phones 4 u contract on Friday on ee , reception in house and surrounding area very poor, contacted phones 4 u and was told to contact ee on which we did got a lovely girl called Ciara who done a number of test and told my husband that they were unable to offer a full service in our area and to end the new contract.
Contacted phones 4 u today and they said as they were in administration ee has to cancel the contract.
After an hour and a half on the phone to ee to cancel contract (less than helpfull) we are still left in a situation of not getting contract ended!!!
What road do we go down now, we are willing to return mobile but where to ???
Exactly the same situation here but with Vodafone, a lot of going back and forth and not actually getting anywhere.
My 14 day cooling off period for poor network coverage ends on Thursday and I'm no closer to getting it sorted0 -

6 years? Let me dig out of my broken 1 year old phones!!!!
You might be referring to sales of goods act which I think is 6 months from purchase date.
Rest is whatever period the warranty is - 1 year / 2 year.
And since 6 months fall normally in standard minimum warranty of 1 year, you are always covered for phones by manufacturer for at least 1 year.0 -
There are EU 'guidelines' that state 6 years. But they have never been ratified into UK law so they have no bearing. You have the 1 year warranty from the retailer and some manufacturers offer 2 years with them. That's it.
In this case where the retailer has gone you have to go the manufacturer, but their terms might not be as good as you would have had under the SoG act with the retailer...0 -

There's no such thing phones are basically a disposable item they aren't built to last 6 years.
The manufacturers offer a 2 year warrantee on all phones, many people have tried to claim after that for a repair / new phone, from what I'm aware very few have been successful0 -
In mid August I purchased an EE contract through Phones4U and I had to pay for the first month upfront there and then in the Phones4U store. I've recently checked my EE account online and it transpires that Phones4U have not passed the payment onto EE and because of that EE are now charging me for the first month and second month.
I've rung Phones4U and they have basically fobbed me off, where do I stand because at this rate I'll be paying for the first month twice.0 -

It's been reported that P4U don't have enough funds to fully pay their staff, so I'd think that if the payment hasn't been sent to EE yet it's unlikely it ever will now.
Whatever funds are left will go to pay the tax man, anything left will go to their creditors. I suppose EE might get a few p in the pound from them. You could apply to the administrator, but again, you'd get back a few p in the pound (if anything).
You could call EE billing dept and see if they'll make a goodwill gesture, especially if you have paperwork that proved you've payed the first month...0 -

I have the paperwork (contract and receipt) but EE pointed me in the direction of Phones4U, I'll give EE another call today as I've been with them for a few years so like you said I'll see if they'll make a gesture of goodwill.0 -
If you happen to be on a redemption plan i.e. once every few months you receive one month free then please see the below link.
This is the official site to the administrators of P4U, fill out the document and return to the relevant place...
might get the rest of your money back
edit: cannot add link but go to pwc/phones4u0 -
