  • I was bought out of my contract about two weeks ago, they said the money (£160) would go into my account in 14 days, I haven't received the money yet will I not be getting it now to pay my old contract off with?

I've got a phone on contract through P4U, still has 12 months on the contract and also has a quarterly redemption whereby they give me back £30 each quarter.
I assume this latest news now means I will be unable to get any future redemption payments fro P4U?

I'm wondering the same about cashback, however I only have one month left of my contract but still a £50 cashback due to me

There is NO chance of getting any future cashback. I suppose it's one of the dangers of cashback schemes...

  • I am expecting cash back on a new contract. Will I ever receive this?

    Just as I feared, thanks.
  • Hi, I just wanted to know what happens to people who took out insurance through Phones 4u. One of the reasons I took this out was of course for the cover but also for the guaranteed £125 trade in price you would get for the phone when upgrade was due or new contract taken. Does anyone know what happens to this now?
  • I recently spoke to P4U about phone insurance that I had apparently taken out in 2003(!), that I discovered I was still paying for. It got sorted and I was told I'd get £1270 refunded into my bank account. This was on the 8th sept. Am I likely to see any of this money?

    Cheers
  • Firstly, I feel really sorry for all the staff who now have the threat of redundancy hanging over their heads, so it makes my 'problem' rather insignificant.

I upgraded my phone from Orange to EE with Phones 4 U on 08/08/2014 and the only reason I went with the phone that I did was that it came with a free Samsung Galaxy Tab 3. (which would have been perfect for my daughter with special needs as she loves watching cartoons etc on youtube) They said I would receive delivery of the tab within 28 days and I have been waiting since then!
I rang Phones 4 U Customer support a few weeks back to check (as I was advised as per the paperwork, I would receive confirmation within 5 days and tab would be dispatched within 28 days) and they confirmed a ref no and said if it was not with me by 08/09/2014 to ring back. I was away for the last few days so didn't rush to ring them, to then wake up this morning and see the news! I have no idea now if the contract I have will be honoured and the website and phone lines are down.

I really feel duped as I only took the phone deal because the tab came with it! As it wasn't EE's offer and I have had the phone now for over 30 days, there would be no way I could cancel. Not sure if I can make a claim through the administrator or not?
  • My partner managed to speak to someone about his jump contract. They said the contract still stands, that it would cease after the contract runs out and that if he wanted too he could jump again. Er, no thanks!
This site rocks and has saved me loads -
thanks to all those that post on the forums and have saved me money

I understand the comments about the chances of getting cashback now being slim, but unlike many businesses going into administration where they have effectively run out of money, P4U were profitable, had cash in the bank but cannot continue trading as they have nothing left to sell (or rather, have nothing apart from EE contracts until next September, then nothing if what we are reading is correct). That being the case, there remains hope, though as claims may take 24 months from the contract start to be claimed, then it is a long time to wait to find out and worry!

The cashback model has generally relied on people not claiming etc - it is possible with the levels of cashback they have been offering that it is funded through commissions received (though I doubt they keep that in a separate ring fences kitty :().

The other issue for some people will be cashback outstanding through TCB, Quidco or other cashback sites (though hopefully not as many affected as P4U were generally good at paying up reasonably promptly).

  • So, I took out a contract on a Galaxy S5 with Phones4u on Thursday, meant to be receiving £50 cashback & a Galaxy Tab 3 as a free gift (as of yet I have neither).

My problem is I'm receiving pretty much no network reception at my home, I was planning on going in and cancelling the contract in the next couple of days and now this happens. Where do I stand? Am I right in thinking they have a 7-day cooling off period for reception issues? :(
