Nope they explained that phones 4u were in breach of the contract as they could no longer honour the contract ie I'm not able to upgrade of the jump contract
My thought is without cancelation it will just get passed on to debt collectors and take a hit on your credit rating.
You need to speak to the Jump people if they are still running or the network partners and see if you can give notice.
If there are outstanding charges for the phone purchase side they may be willing to bill you for the outstanding amount ?
It's not just about the money

Hi just phoned phones4u head office to be told that administrators say will get phones back to customers within 6 weeks of last Wednesday/Thursday. So yet another "promise".
Well ,myself I think the administrators are quite capable of extending that deadline to suit them in which case I too will have a phone out of warranty. I was told I could make a claim via the administrators website for any losses( eg contract fees) but what are the chances of receiving anything.... ? It's exasperating.

Thank you for that information. One of the posters on this board told me that Apple Care is available from EBay for about £30 so I will get that before early November when warranty runs out. My main worry is that they find my phone in the shop. I had to disable the find my phone app when they took it for repair.

Thank you for that suggestion Tibs15 & yes I was concerned as we'd had to disable the find my phone app. But amazingly the phone has been sent back to me, turned up today in special delivery envelope. No advance phone call as they said I would need to have.Never have I been so excited at receiving something useless in the post - well useless in so far as it still needs repair but at least I can now go to apple in Cardiff and see what they say.
I'd just add that there was a letter of 14th October from phones4u in the envelope. It stated that the phone had been at the repair centre, who'd tried to contact me repeatedly and couldn't keep it any longer so had to return it but if I had any problems then I could take it to my local phones4u shop ..I guess there's no money at the administrators for sending out accurate letters. Still just glad someone got my phone back to me.
Now I really hope you get your phone back ASAP ! Then you might not need to extend your warranty just yet.

OH, I am so pleased to hear your good news. At least on the Forum we are able to get updates as you know Phones4U are not getting any updates from the Administrators. At least I don't have to worry about a missing a phone call now and hopefully they will be processing the Swansea shop so I'll be off to Apple in Cardiff too! I'll update when I have any news which will hopefully help others like you have reassured me. Many thanks and I hope yours is an easy repair.:T
  • Just a note for you guys, if you're going to the apple store, don't just turn up, book an appointment first, if they're busy (which they usually are) they could turn you away, they did this to me once after an agent told me to take it to the store, so I did and they tried to turn me away, it was a very straightforward phone swap so I !!!!!ed loud enough and they just did it, but just a warning for a smooth ride, it's already been stressful enough!

Thanks for that advice. I have written myself a note because if/when I get my phone back I will be so thrilled I would probably get straight on the train to the store without thinking!

Thank you Tibs15, thinking on if your phone doesn't turn up as soon as you need it then wonder if worth you contacting the repair centre? The rather strange letter with my phone came from them, tho a few weeks ago they'd said the phone was still at the shop. Their no. is 0844 8712269.
Thank you too Charleem for that tip , this forum and everyone's advice has been a godsend over the last month!

Phoned repair centre and was transferred to customer services 08448712253.Very helpful Lady who told me that all the phones were being sent to the repair centre and then would be posted to me. As there are a lot of shops for the Administrators to go to I should allow 5 weeks. I was reassured that my phone is secure. So it's just a case of waiting and I think I had better buy an extended warranty.Thank you again for the advice. I will update this board. Very grateful for the forum.
  • I went in to see Apple about my Iphone 5 that is playing up. I was two days out of warranty, so they could not do anything. They told me to either buy a new iphone or I should put a claim through my home insurance!!. I was told to contact phones 4 u or Vodafone. I contacted phones 4 u (before they went into administration) and was told, they would send my mobile off to be repaired (this would take a couple of weeks). I did tell them, that Apple told me, it was un repairable. Luckily, I did not get them to send it away, as a week later they went into administration. Last ditch attempt, this afternoon, I started an online chat with Vodafone, I explained all the above and I was told I could get an early upgrade. I was called and told I couldn't upgrade until August 2015. I signed a 24 month agreement August 2013, but they are saying I cannot get out of it until October 2015. If I want to get out of it, I have to pay £377. Can anyone help with any advice?. Has anyone been in the same situation as me?

If they are quoting Oct was that because you took early upgrade last time ?
The £377 will be payable if you cancel the contract as you are breaking the contract you agreed to.
Did Apple give you a quote for repair ?
It's not just about the money
