Phones 4U collapses into administration

I can't see that the job centre has anything to do with what the company owed. I don't know who "they" are, but I would suggest:-
Employees
Employees can contact their line manager or HR in the first instance if they have any questions or require advice. The central HR team contact number is 01782 676 969
(even though they are an "ex" employee) and the administrators.0 -
I was the same, I pre-ordered with Phones4U, did a webchat and they confirmed that it would be delivered on launch day.
THEN I heard that they'd gone into administration, they had already pre-authorised the £699 from my account, crazily enough I had to do the order twice because the bank blocked it the first time!
Anyway, I called them on Monday 15th Sept and spoke to customer services, I waited until around 9.30 until they'd been briefed on what was going to happen to them and got through pretty easily, the girl took my order number and manually cancelled the order herself, I got this email from them immediately.
Thank you for visiting phones 4u. Unfortunately, we were unable to complete your order. Please take this email as confirmation that your order : 1004493941 has been cancelled and your account has not been charged.
Please find below the cancelled items:

Yours sincerely, Phones 4u
Since then the £699 has dropped off my pending authorisations, but the worrying thing is that they have 45 days to charge the full amount, so I'm just hoping and praying that they don't go ahead and try to charge me for the phone. I wish I'd paid the money onto my credit card and used that, can't believe I risked all that money on a debit card, I'm usually so careful with these things too but you don't expect a company like p4u to go into administration so quickly!
Please let me know how you get on with the bank chargeback and if they can help you, who are you with, just out of interest? I'm with Halifax, it's them who advised me that the pending authorisation had dropped off but they had 45 days to claim it, he did try to re-assure me that they wouldn't take it if they weren't trading, but they were never the most ethical of companies!
Hi Charleem,
Apologies for not replying sooner but I've not been on for a few days.
Funnily enough, I'm with Halifax too. I called P4U and cancelled my order on the Monday too and then went into my bank as a back up. Halifax didn't do a thing. They said the orders were being honoured or refunded and there was nothing they could do. My order never actually dropped off my pending authorisations. It just went through as normal and I've not seen a penny of it come back yet. I've followed the charge back advice but heard nothing back from Halifax yet so I'll be chasing them up tomorrow.0 -
I can't help feeling P4U have done this on purpose. Preorders for the iPhone started on Friday the 12th and p4u announced administration on Sunday the 14th. There are rumours that p4u knew on the Friday that they were going into administration, that’s 2 days of orders they took knowing full well they were never going to honour them. At a starting price of pretty much £500 and with nearly 140 people buying a phone from p4u in advance that’s £70 000 they could have potentially defrauded people out of. And that’s at £500. The top priced phone is nearly £800, meaning that total could actually be more than £100 000 knowing full well they had no intention of providing the goods. Someone HAS to be held responsible/ accountable for this and there has to be an investigation into the company and why it was continuing to take orders when they couldn’t fulfil them.
Another thing that's been pointed out, P4U were the only company taking money when the order was placed. Every other company took the money as the phone was being dispatched. That's extremely fishy. Backs up the theory they knew exactly what they were doing and were just cashing in on the biggest weekend of the year, tech wise, to make as much money as possible before going bankrupt.0 -
What nonsense. I'm going bust so I'll dishonestly grab a drop in the ocean for my creditors before it's official?
People always attack companies going bust no matter what. I'm just surprised there aren't more of you.0 -
Is it nonsense? Or are you just incredibly naïve? Look at the evidence a little closer without shouting your mouth off and you may learn something.0

And others just like to spend all their days providing their unwanted opinions/ attacking people with sarcasm like some 3rd rate Jeremy Kyle whilst hiding safely behind their computer screens.0

You're obviously looking in the mirror.0

Well, I've better things to do than sit here and respond to your stupidity. Looking at the number of silly posts you make this is obviously all you've got. Enjoy yourself. And to quote the great Billy Connolly, "You should get yourself an agent, pal. Why sit in the dark handling yourself?!"0

Like presenting bogus conspiracy theories because you just can't face the facts. You obviously had SO much time to read my 5,641 posts though.0

Wonder how much longer before the Adminstrators contact me to get my phone back to me so I can take it for repair. Each time I phone phones4u it's in the shop and I will be phoned. If they would just open the door I'll get it myself! Has anyone received their phone back yet?:(
I'm in the same position as you. Today I managed to check our local shop to find it in midst EE refurb. I was told by the shopfitters that all phones in the shop were sent back to head office with a view to them then being returned to customers . Head office confirmed that this is the plan for these phones so I'll post again if and when the phone arrives back ...0
