In the case where there was only one person manning it's highly unlikely the law is going to find them guilty of discrimination. They couldn't make adjustments easily.

Nothing in your link says the adjustments need to be easy. I think we aren't going to agree on this one. As for the law, we know what that is at times ;)
    It's someone else's fault.

Don't know if tesco are the same as asda but at asda they are not actually supposed to carry it in, they are not insured to enter the property.

    Did you read the thread?

The same suggestion was made in post#15 and responded to in post#20.

It appears that Tesco are not the same as Asda in this respect.

Equality is NOT treating everyone the same. Equality is recognising that some groups of people need additional help to be on equal footing. Take for example close parking spaces - treating everyone the same would be saying everyone can park in the car park. Equality instead says they recognise some people can't walk far, and if they get stuck at the back of the car park, they can't access the shop. Therefore they are provided with parking at the front.

Apply this to everything. Companies have a duty to provide a service - in law - to people with disabilities. That means changing the way they do things if they have to.

This doesn't always happen, but that's what is supposed to happen.

My hearing is seriously impaired what duty does Tesco, Asda, Sky, O2 have to me legally in terms of service? What should I expect when I go through a checkout in any supermarket when I can't hear?

I can see areas where this wouldn't work. Eg, what about if people milk their own disability to get advantages or fake one to have the same effect?

But in this case the equality question doesn't apply; Tesco's T&Cs (see post #39) state that they will bring the items in and make no mention of disability.

Whilst post 39 is interesting I went to the T & Cs for info - see below in full with no editing.

    Delivery

Delivery will be made to the address specified by you on the completed order form.
We will deliver your order to the main entrance of the delivery address. At your request, our driver may carry your order into the delivery address, for example, to a particular floor in an apartment block or into your kitchen but only if: a. the driver has your permission and b. our driver believes that it is safe and practical to do as you request. We always reserve the right to deliver only to the main entrance of the delivery address.
Please note that we deliver goods only to specified regions within the United Kingdom. To check that the online Grocery service delivers to your area, please enter your postcode at http://www.tesco.com/register/signup.asp.
Our grocery delivery service covers most UK residential addresses with individual postcodes. Selected caravan parks, camp sites and holiday homes may be excluded, please check your postcode on the website.
Delivery times will be agreed with you at the time of placing your order.
All goods must be signed for on delivery by an adult aged 18 years or over. Tesco follows a "Think 25" policy, so if the person receiving the goods looks under 25, proof of age will be requested. If proof is not available and there is no-one of that age at the address when delivery is being made, the goods may be retained by the driver. If we attempt to deliver your order to the delivery address as arranged with you but there is nobody at the delivery address to accept your order, the driver will leave notification of attempted delivery and you will need to contact our Customer Service Centre to re-arrange delivery (see below for contact details).
In these circumstances, if we have to return to deliver the goods, a further charge may become payable provided that delivery is attempted at the agreed time.
Whilst we make every effort to deliver all your goods in the agreed time, we will not be liable if we fail to do so in part or in full due to circumstances beyond our control.

Here it only says - to your 'Front Door', with special arrangements available possible in a block of flats, or to your kitchen - providing the driver has prior permission, and thinks it safe to do so.
Though that wouldn't give the driver license to 'abuse' the customer.
If there wasn't a 'note' about it perhaps he should have queried it with the store.
There again we don't know the driver's side - what traffic delays he may have had, or kept waiting at the last call!

I am not sure that the level of service delivered to a particular customer should depend on what happened at previous customer's premises.

Traffic delays can obviously cause problems for the driver, but he should not be offering a lesser service because of that.

One thing I wondered if it's like where I live. Where I live the streets are narrow as there are cars parked on both sides of the road meaning each road can only fit one vehicle down at a time & you have to wait at the end of the street to let a car currently driving down out before you can drive down.

I'm wondering whether the op lives somewhere like this where the driver will be completely blocking the road. Where I live these vans are a pain as no one can go anywhere until they've gone. It might be something like this where the driver simply can't stay for that long.
