Lounge de-grotted. Cupboard tops all cleaned and all nooks and crannies have been dusted. Need to hoover next but having a coffee break. So list of what else I would like to get done today is:

Bring 1 load washing off line
Peg next load out (hoping the grey clouds blow off in the other direction)
Hoover lounge (round skirting boards etc)
    HHI
    Trip to library

Think that will just about do it for today so I can collapse in a heap after cooking dinner with a drinkie

I'm really not sure if I'm on my @r$e or my elbow right now.
Got a call from the franchisee at 19:30 last night - he had a HUGE problem. OK says I, how can I help? Long story short, he'd placed Ted the Terrier (who usually comes to me but I'd already got Jessie booked in) with another host, and it was a disaster. Now, Ted is "special needs" in that he canNOT, under any circumstances, come into contact with another dog. I think he has some form of canine PTSD which makes him completely flip out if he sees another canine. He also has special nighttime requirements - a nightlight and a radio playing Classic fm!
So... franchisee rescues Ted from other hosts's place, but has no-one else available who doesn't have their own dog. He can't take him, as he has a dog of his own also. Cue ringing Wolfy - would I be prepared to swap dogs, give him Jessie (who is fine with other dogs) and have Ted with me.
Of course I've said yes. I'm sad to relinquish Jessie early, but that said, I do love Ted, and, most importantly, we know him and his little ways, and he's happy here.
Franchisee now has "Jessie Squared", as his own dog is also a Jessie!:D
Just one minor problem; Ted has a skin condition which means he has to be bathed weekly in special shampoo; he's here for 10 days. Not normally a problem, we just strip down to our skivvies, because we get soaked also! But..... Mr LW can't lift as yet, he's not healed enough. So I'm now working on a way of lumping a reluctant Border Terrier into the bath. Having Mr LW's pal round to help won't work, as Ted doesn't know him, and will get mega-stressed; it's got to be me. Bath day is Tuesday, so I have til then to come up with a solution.
Answers on a postcard please..... :rotfl:

Lamewolf, just a suggestion, but have you tried asking a local pet groomer to do Ted's bath? The stress of thinking about trying to do it without Mr LW may prey on your mind, and in my opinion the professional groomers can be a wonderful alternative. There are some that collect and deliver, or do it outside your home in their mobile grooming van.

Just thinking of (now deceased) Dog and (current) Mrs Dog's terror at interventions that they didn't have in their former lives - even being brushed by me gave/gives them the vapours, so I just zoom them up to someone I trust completely and they come back smelling, as OH says, like a Tart's Boudoir. And they still think I'm fab, as opposed to thinking I am an evil person with The Bathtub of Terror.

And you can pass on the cost to the owners if you discuss it with the Franchiser first - after all, he owes you one, doesn't he?

As a dog owner, I'd be fine with that arrangement, and grateful that it had been thought through carefully.
    Better is good enough.

Hi DUSTY - DD1 starts secondary school in September and DD2 will be going into year 6 - has all gone in a blur tbh.

Done the hovering, got washing in, pegged next load out but keeping one eye on window as its gone very grey. Have done HHI too so feeling much better than I have all week and feel I have caught up.

Just checked the forecast for next week and its not looking good. Looks like it will be a week stuck in the caravan as woof is coming with us. Was hoping to get some geocaching in and trip to the beach - keeping fingers crossed it blows over and we get a couple of dry days. I knew when the newspapers starting talking about the hottest August ever that the exact opposite would happen.

Maybe the franchise fellow could come round and bath Ted at yours, with or without your help? You did help him out of a sticky one :D

Elsie; fetches mop to clear up pool of saliva, that is mean, so near dinner time! :D

Elsie - the food looks great - where did you get the Foccaccia recipe?

I had friends to dinner last night - we were supposed to have salmon in orange sauce, but for some reason the sauce boiled away so it was all a bit dry, but never mind, it was nice to be sociable!

Not got anything done at home today, as DD, DS and I had a nice day out in Greenwich - did bits of the maritime museum and the planetarium, then put DS on a bus as he had a meeting and had a nice wander around the market with DD.

I need to go and at least tidy and clear the kitchen before making dinner and then hopefully get some ironing done as the pile is about to topple over.
    May spend - £291.40/£320.00
    June spend - £106.40/£320.00

HB Ted's fine once he's in the tub; it's just getting him there, he's a stocky little chap, and wriggles when he's picked up! Once there, the promise of choc drops during the bathing process is enough to keep him happy.:o Thinking about it, I think it's the picking up he doesn't like, as opposed to the actual bathing process.

If I'm desperate, I'll have to get the franchisee in to help, though I'm reluctant to ask, as I know he's up to his ears with collecting/delivering dogs to various hosts. But that'd be better than a local groomer (not that I know of any) because at least Ted knows him.
