Morning,
Yesterday's shop went well, we ended up paying £16 for an £80 shop! Hurrah! So we are fully stocked up and should only need to top up with the usual stapes.
I'm claiming today as a SFD, tomorrow will be spendy as I need to buy hubby's birthday present before my op next week in case I can't get out.
My knee is very painful ATM and constantly aches, I'm getting fed up with it :-( still not long to go and hopefully it will start feeling better after the operation.Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0 -
Interview went well and I am through to the next stage:)
Only spend yesterday was on diesel as I managed to find a pair of tights in the box under my bed.
Today will be a SFD. HV coming to see DS this morning before he goes to MIL and I am planning a dog walk, cleaning the bathroom and prepping for my next interview as I have a presentation to make. Will also finally make the bolognaise I have been planning all week:o
I am going to set myself a target of ironing 20 items today or the heap is never going to go down:(. I hate ironing and DH normally does it
We have decided to clear the cc and small family loan with my redundancy money instead of hang on to it all until we can afford to clear the secured loan so by the end of next week we will have no more unsecured debt and still have a chunk to put in savings:)Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%

3 in a row too I think! Off to mums tomorrow for dinner, so don't think I'll have to spend anything there - maybe I can make it 4...?
Just munched through a pile of leftover new potatoes for lunch that would have REALLY benefitted from a dollop of pickle if I'd had my brain in gear last night. This new 7am work start time has really thrown me out of kilter!Start date 25/05/2014 Total debt = £7896.55/£8173

Hope you are all well. Apologies for missing check in yesterday, working a long day and had lost of other stuff to sort as well, so didn't get a minute online.

Good day to you June Bugs...
Since I left work yesterday at 1500 it has just been mayhem for me so I apologize for not clocking in last night...
I went to Tesco and spent £22.65. This was the food needed for the next 5-6 days and I have cut my weekly food spends now to £25 instead of £32.50.
With baggage from tesco in tow I made it to my local bus stop - I had got a lift in that morning so didn't have to pay the busfare and kinda knew my luck would be running out - lo and behold the bus driver refused to let me on with a £20 saying he doesn't have a float, doesn't have to have one and I had to get the next bus.
I rang his bus company and complained - I was LIVID! I got the next one for free. Still angry.
Started cooking as soon as I got in around 1630 and finished at 2130.:eek::eek:
Hand-made bread, two large portions of brine/stock to go over Vietnamese Pho once I get the additional items, babaghanoush, humus, vegan spanakopita from scratch and two batches of crackers (rosemary&thyme and salt/pepper and dill)....
Then I hoovered, cleaned the cat box, washed three loads of dishes stacked high from cooking (although did a lot along the way as I cooked), had a shower and had a slice of still-warm bread with lashings of jam.........
Forgot to send pictures of the push bike to someone at work who is interested.:(:(.. Will send them tonight...
Left this morning knowing I had to pay the bus, traveled two stops and realized I had left my Oyster card in the coat pocket I wore yesterday. got off the bus and walked home, managing to get the next bus without him checking my ticket although missed my train by a few minutes there was another within 10 minutes..
Wonder if I am a little over tired..
However my sweet, caring, darling Mummy-bear put £15 in my account to get me through this weekend and to buy some "easy" food like micro-waveable rice so I can grab and go.. I love my Mummy so much! I feel a little awful accepting money from her since I know my Dad is self employed - her response...."Well if I lived over there I would buy you dinner and it would cost me at least £15 to cover you so have the cash instead"........:p:p:p:p:p
So that's my 24 hours of dilemma.. I am now eating crackers and babaghanoush...:)“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. I am having a rest day from exercise, today - well having seen the time I probably should amend that to having a lazy day.
Extras done last night - took some paper out to the recycling bin then filled the large basket with weeds from the front garden.(had done some bending down weeding earlier but that last basket was getting tough). Also went to put away the jam tarts (5) and carrot cake (5 boxes, approximately 30 pieces) in the freezer and though tired (and aching by the end) I cleared all the washing up (baking and odd utensils I kept discovering), wiped the sink, cleared and wiped all but one worktop (last job and back was really starting to nag) and planted up another washing up bowl full of toilet rolls with dwarf beans and set off 2 more lots of seedlings.
Well yesterday's tasks have to count as exercise because my knees were warm when I went to bed, still warm this morning and getting hot now. I am not in pain, I can move but my body is disinclined to move quickly or very much or anything involving reaching so am limiting today's activity to physio exercises, mainly the lying down ones but doing storks when I get food and water. Am thinking bursitis in my knees (had both the tennis and housemaid's varieties before) so will go slow today.
NSD 5/24. Was thinking about the 7 day fiscal fast then started trying to work out when I last spent money - of course it was the £1 bus fare to get the food parcel back home, so day 7 has already been acheived. Am now thinking about going through to next Wednesday to use my nect*r points - only because Wednesday is a good day for sainsbobs bargains. Still weighing up what I should buy, can't have everything for £10 points. Will probably buy bread seperately as can still get 10p ys'd bread (usually seeded, always wholemeal, once or twice genius) so not worth 'wasting' points on a less reduced loaf. Monday's walk should mean all but one of the local supermarkets are now available (doable) but may need to balance weight/distance to walk ie £10 of fresh veg will probably overspill the rucksack but need other items so will balance.
Am eating rice salad today - only a little bowl, but several have been consumed. Have checked that the cut up veg in the fridge is okay as am still debating what to make (cake tins are stuck in the attic so used small roasting tin for the carrot cake opportunity cost couldn't make the pasta/ veg dish using the same tin in the oven at the same time). looked up soda bread last night (remembered it as being quick and easy to make), needed buttermilk so then looked up to make that (cheat's version).
Want to make crackers (and research crispbread) now Kat - but I don't need them yet and I only have a small amount of flour left, still thinking porridge oat biscuits are my best option.
Did a mini move round in the freezer - had to make way for the cakes. Only fruit in the house is one tin of sliced peaches and the remaining fruit juice (list says there should be a tin of pineapples somewhere). I am allowed 3 pieces of fruit a day (diabetic rules) so maybe when there is no fruit I can have one or two sweet things every day (jam tart only once a week and will have to be whole day's allowance).
Figures for utility bills are now in (they have moved it forward again to the 10th, was the 18th last year and sometimes went out as late as the 24th) and can probably let the council tax dd go through. Will move the water rates onto the cc today. Seems a shame that the pleasant suppliers (water and council) are always the ones who get messed about. Still it took me 3 years of juggling with precarious finances (lots of extra non-paying mouths to feed and a couple of serious hospital stays) to get to the point where I had everything on direct debits again. The next problem month should be December (second half of water rates) and hopefully mum will give me my Christmas money before then (she pays my brother's tv license so I know how much to expect).
Several variables in September which could be either good or bad. If I get the house up for sale by the end of June and someone decides to buy it the first week, I am laughing. Even someone who's name is a translation of 'the unlucky one' has to get a break now and then and I do have a good track record on house selling. I managed to empty and agree to sell my brother's house in a week. My father's house took over two years to do up but was sold before it even went in the papers to a young couple who had gone into the estate agent's to look for somewhere to rent.
But both those had been emptied first - never had to sell one with a DS3 in residence. must be doing something right - last week he confessed he is now afraid to take anything out of his wardrobe as he does not know how to put it back how I have arranged it. So that why it has been so simple the last few times I have been in there - as well as the little stair mender using a mattress on the floor when he comes to stay which doesn't leave them anywhere to put any rubbish.

First check-in of the month, sorry I have been working and sleeping!
So I have decided on 18 SFD for the month, I will have a £120 food budget already £57.33 in to it, but I intend to make my food shop last as near to two weeks as possible and I may do a week where it is all value/basic food lines, no branded foods on special offers, discounts or BOGOFs. I am really going to try even if I have to starve at the end of the month!
My spends budget is the same as last month £100, with £16.53 going towards my Q*C beauty products.
No DVD exercise routines under my belt as yet, but I have been taking the scenic route to work which is about an hour's worth of walking, does that count? I still have tomorrow, and Saturday for the DVD's though.
I am working again tonight and tomorrow which is an extra shift, then I am on annual leave for the week :j. Although the temptation is to pick up some extra shifts as we are ridiculously short-staffed.
However, I am now at the point where I am thinking about improving my longer-term finances by getting a different and better paid job. I have bought some software so I can refresh my IT skills and the holiday would be the perfect uninterrupted time to get stuck into it, doing any extras is a short term fix. So I must be strong and think long-term and not short-term.
I will try to catch up on everybody's posts tomorrow.Debt-Free day 30th September 20140 -
