This should be signposted with a tick acceptance box before payment is authorised & should be legislated for.Do you agree?
Yes, I do agree.
But I am pretty sure most applicants would still just tick the box without reading or understanding what they are agreeing to.
Read this post I wrote only yesterday for just one example.0 -
Just happened to me too.....completed a survey & asked for card details to pay p&p to receive 'free sample'. Now find that £163.71 taken out of my account!!!! Phoned Age Renew / Lumagenex & spoke to Cindy (in USA) who said I had agreed to a monthly debit!! I did not. Realised I had been scammed and phone my bank. Am very worried that proven scammers have my bank details and have taken a huge amount already. My bank NatWest were helpful & will now stop any further payments to these two companies but I have to watch out for them using another company name to take more money, but if I find they use any other names, the bank will refund me after today. So, I've got to watch my account like a hawk!! NatWest will not refund the £163.71 even though it's a scam because they say they have not seen the t&c's!
If the bank's KNOW that these companies are scammers all that need to happen is for the bank's to refuse payment to them unless the customer authorises it; that would stop them! As it stands, they have fraudulently obtained the bank details of thousands of people and can dip in to our accounts at will, with the bank's help!! An expensive lesson.0 -

On the page where you entered your card details it says:We will send you a 30 day supply of Lumagenex for £2.95 and we will ship your package within 1 business day. In order for you to try the product please consider that end of the trial period is 14 days after you placed your order. If you are unhappy with the product within this trial period, call Customer Care at 0800 949 6912 to cancel and avoid being billed for the cost of the product. If you are satisfied with your product, then do nothing and we will bill you for your initial order, and every 30 day thereafter we will send you a new 30-day supply of Lumagenex and automatically bill you the low price of £79 plus p/p. To cancel automatic delivery and billing, call Customer Care at 0800 949 6912. The Transaction will show on your Credit Card statement as TRYLUMAGENEX.COM.bridgybaby wrote: »NatWest will not refund the £163.71 even though it's a scam because they say they have not seen the t&c's!bridgybaby wrote: »If the bank's KNOW that these companies are scammers all that need to happen is for the bank's to refuse payment to them unless the customer authorises it;
Do you really want your bank deciding just who you can purchase from?0 -
Hi, regards the Agerenew scam noticed last night that two amounts had come out of the joint account, £75 & £89, when I spoke with my wife she explained that she had paid postage on two items after reading a trial offer on ukcouponing.co.uk. An 'agerenew scam' search on Google told me all I needed to know. They get people to sign up for a trial where they pay small postage charge on the items, then if they do not cancel the contract that they have signed up to within 14 days they are charged for a years supply of this 'trial'. Contacted my bank, they stopped my wifes card, I will be sent claims forms and will have to raise a claim, this will take weeks to sort and get the money back. In the meantime I have missed an important payment due to insufficient funds, which was the reason I found out about the scam, a payment could not be taken as Agerenew scammers had taken £164 and I checked my online account to find out why.
After an hour on the phone trying to sort I asked the bank how this company is allowed to get away with it, they said that it was not illegal due to the fact that in the T's&C's it states that they will take money if not cancelled in 14 days. But there were no Terms on the website neither was this mentioned in the email that they sent to my wife.

Agerenew Scam
Please can you tell us which website was used.
This is important because if you can demonstrate that those terms were not available, then it should be quite straight forward getting your money back via a chargeback.
p.s. you won't be able to post a full link, but something like www.agerenew<dot>co<dot>uk would be good.0 -

Hi, I'm sorry to say that I too have been duped by this company. I contacted ageanew today to request the return of my money, to no avail. I stupidly thought I was going to get free samples.
agerenew told me that they never offer free samples and that I had knowingly subscribed. It is such a rip off. I searched the internet for agerenew ad, found it complete with picture offering...yes..free samples. So i have emailed them, attached the picture, asked for refund and threatened to report them to trading standards.

I did however find this page which talks about a free trial... is that perhaps what you meant?
I'm really not trying to be pedantic here, but a trial is generally understood to be an opportunity to see if a product is suitable, with a view towards making a purchase if it does turn out to be suitable.
Anyway, if that was the page you saw, after filling in your details and clicking the RUSH ME MY TRIAL button, you are presented with a screen where you enter your card details.
That screen looks like this: https://www.tryagerenew.com/asuk1c-m/trial.php
Now, on that page, yes it is in small print, it says:We will send you a 30 day supply of AgeRenew's Advanced Serum for £2.95 and we will ship your package the following business day after placing your order. Thus, in order for you to try the product please consider that end of the trial period is 14 days after you placed your order. If you are unhappy with the product at any time during those 14 days, call Customer Care at +44 800 249 4323 to cancel your order and avoid being billed for the cost of the product. If you are satisfied with your product, then do nothing and we will bill you for your initial order, and every 30 day thereafter we will send you a new 30-day supply of AgeRenew and automatically bill you the low price of £84.71. bank will not refund as has been said in these posts, have had the following email from Agerenew, do not expect to get money back, the only thing we can do is to make sure we post about this scam on as many sites such as this as we can, hurt them that way, reduce the number of people like us that get duped!
The more times that 'Agerenew Scam' is posted the better.
''The reason you have received additional charges is because what we offer is a 14 day "try before you buy" trial program, not a free sample. We send you the product for the price of shipping and handling. You have 14 days, starting the date of order, to assess this product and contact us should you decide to extend or cancel your trial. However if we do not hear from you, per the Terms and Conditions agreed to upon ordering, we charge you the full cost of the product and enroll you in our monthly membership.
These terms are located in multiple areas of our website.
If you would like to view our complete Terms and Conditions at this point in time, you may visit: (had to remove the link to post here)
Should you wish to pursue this charge further, please be aware we will provide whomever necessary with a copy of our legally binding Terms and Conditions, and upon review of this, it is unlikely you will prevail in this effort. If you call us back we can certainly attempt to come at an agreement and assist you further with charge.
Our terms and conditions are listed in multiple areas during the process of ordering our trial offer.
First, they are located on the footer of all pages on all of the pages located on our website.
Second, the Terms are located on the Order Checkout page where you originally entered your credit/debit card information. On this page the Terms are immediately adjacent to the 'Submit Order' button. There is a box that you need to check for your order to be processed that states that you agree that you are over 18 years of age and agree to the Terms and Conditions, in which there is a link to the full terms and conditions. This box needs to be clicked for the order to be processed, so the order could not have been processed if you had not agreed to these terms and conditions.
Lastly, your order confirmation email contains a complete explanation of our Trial Program terms, in addition to your order confirmation number.
Regardless of how you would have been redirected to our website, the Terms and Conditions are always present, and we do not allow other companies to make orders for us, therefore making it impossible for you to order anywhere but on our website. We apologize for the misrepresentation of our company on the third party website.''0
