hi, followed a link from MSE for free age renew serum then a couple weeks later found that the company involved had taken over £80 from my bank. Cant seem to find the original link on this site to check all the info on it but any advice on what to do next would be welcome. Thanks

Cancel the CPA with your bank (in writing so you have a record of it should your bank fail - some of them will try and tell you they can't cancel a CPA) and also cancel the subscription.
Thats how these things usually work anyway, you get a "free trial" and if you dont cancel within x days, you then sign up to a subscription service.
Would help if you know the company name.
Was it via a newsletter from MSE itself or was it a "freebie" thread on the forums? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
Could it have been a forum spammer whose post was deleted moments later? So many of these 'free' trials (where they take your card details) are balls out scams0

Hi there
I've just fallen for the exact same scam and they're making out that I have agreed to buy a 30 day supply of this product since I didn't cancel after 14 days. This wasn't mentioned on the website or in the confirmation email and I've emailed customer care who have cancelled it going forward but I haven't had a response regarding getting my money back!
Just wondering if you'd had any luck sorting yours out badgeman?0 -
Two posters and neither say what the product was!0

It was an age renew serum that was offered as a "free gift" for completing an online survey. In my case it came up when I was looking on Skyscanner but I now think it's nothing to do with that site and is just a pop up set up to con people!
I’ve checked the confirmation email from when I ordered the free one and NOWHERE does it say that it’s a trial and you have to return it/cancel! They’ve sent me a cancellation email going forward but haven’t replied to my continuous emailing about refunding the money they’ve just taken! And I’ve told my partner to refuse any parcels that come for me but in their “terms and conditions” (that I obviously didn’t see or agree to) it says they don’t process parcels that are refused for refunds and you need a reference number from them, which I’ve asked them for but they haven’t replied. It’s flipping ridiculous. Obviously the product itself isn’t up to much if they have to trick people into buying it! Flipping RUDE!
I'm usually so skeptical and sensible about things like this but I was in a good mood and just thought "where's the harm?"0 -
follow BoP's advice.
If item is free, why do you need my card details.0 -
Well yes, hindsight is a fine thing :P0

hmm, age renew serum eh?
If you pay me £50 I'll come and chant some age renewing chants over you that are permanent and will take 10 years+ off you.

Age renew scam
Hi I've joined this forum to say thank you.
Last week I did a short survey for my bank and was offered a small free gift so I chose the Age renew serum, paid £1.95 for posting. There was nothing to tell me it was going to be a commitment, no terms and conditions showing, let alone to tick. After it arrived I just thought to google 'Age renew scam' and your posts came up. I found Age Renew's website, wrote and asked them if I had been tricked into a commitment for which my card would be involuntarily debited further. They said Yes, and in two weeks they will debit me £80 in I don't send it back quoting a returns number.
Thanks to your forum alerting me of this I am sending it back recorded delivery - my 'free' gift will have cost a fair bit of time and money.
Pass the message on. I thought I was dealing with a bone fide company whilst on my bank's website.0
