I'm usually very careful, and good at reading small print -- they are a load of cheats, I've learnt my lesson.0 -
I have just spent an hour on the phone to these people. Advised them that as this is a scam i will be wanting a full refund. Spoken to my bank who are raiding a dispute and possible fraud. When i told the woman on the phone this she slammed the phone down.0

i also fell for this when of course as we all know if it seems too good etc.
ad popped up on some site or other can't remember but the companies/products involved are the following -
agerenewskin.com
lumagenexuk.co.uk
lumagenex.co.uk
there was no mention of further payments nor that i was signing up for monthly supplies nor that if i didn't cancel within 14 days i would be charged £84 & £79 for the 'free trial samples' i had received in the post.
as for those who asked why give bank card details if it was free? they billed you a £1 for each cream + postage. approx £3 for each one.
i can not vouch for or against the creams themselves whether they be wonder creams or rubbish as i have not used them yet but i was extremely annoyed when i found out how much i had been charged through my bank £163 for 2 sample size pots. so even if they do turn out to be super (at this point very doubtful) i wouldn't purchase more anyway as far too pricey for my budget.
silver lining....there is a free phone number which i used lots to let them know just how annoyed i was about their selling/marketing scam. it took a lot of persistence on my part but i refused to agree to anything less than a full refund....which in the end i got.
phone numbers on the above sites. i couldn't put full site addresses as i'm a newbie.
i also contacted my bank so that no future payments could be taken from my a/c.0 -
I have just also been scammed by Age Renew, and Lumagenex. I was offered a free trial of both products, and all I had to pay was £1.95 each for p+p (they actually charged me an extra £1 each). I checked t's & c's extremely carefully, as I have been scammed in the past, and because of that I am always wary when things seem too good to be true.
I checked my bank yesterday to find just over £80 had been taken out and after calling the Card Services Line was told about the two companies having taken the money. After finally getting hold of them today on the phone, I was told exactly the same thing from both- it was in the t&c's, etc. At one point I was told I was lucky because I was only charged half price! I was also told there was no such trial on their website (so how could I have been charged for a trial that doesn't seem to exist?!) I have read the previous posts and will be taking this further, and getting my money back. Good luck to everyone else that is doing the same.0 -
I too was just scammed but ive beaten them. I fell for their low life advert but when the package arrived I just happened to google it for a bit more info. Lucky for me I found this thread. I immediately contacted my bank and put a block on any further requests for payment. The halifax assured me that it was a very common scam and that if any payments were taken from my account after that date they would refund them. low and behold 7 days later £79 was taken but immediately repaid to me. I rang age renew and lumagenex and got an arrogant little #@#@ who was almost sniggering at my request not to send anymore packages or requests for cash. In a nutshell I told them the account was blocked and not to contact me anymore. If they threaten you with supplying documents to prove you agreed to it tell them to swivvel and start court proceedings if they want. The bank will def be on your side and just to be sure they even cancelled my card and got me a new one within 3 days.....the bank details are useless to them now. Id rather have my day in court with them than go out to work all day just to hand it over. The nature of these products targets a lot of over 50s like me and they know that not everyone will have the strength to challenge it.
Sorry about the full essay but I just hope it helps some of you and also sticks 2 fingers up to the dirty shysters..incidentally, I have had email confirmation from both companies that everything is now cancelled.
Ive never been caught out like this before so thank you everyone who highlighted this, I, ll not be so trusting ever again on the web...
REMEMBER TO GIVE THE BANK ALL THE DIFFERENT NAMES OF THE COMPANY AS THEY APPEAR ON ANY DELIVERY NOTES AS THESE COMPANIES USE SISTER COMPANY NAMES - THIS IS WHY THE PRODUCTS ARE LISTED AS SEPARATE ITEMS ON YOUR STATEMENT.0 -
About a year ago I came across an ad for a teeth whitening pack. Think it was £1.99, I started signing up for it, and then thought hang on, I use MSE, I know if it sounds too good to be true it probably is, and clicked on the button on the webpage saying terms and conditions. Started reading. Pages of them. Yep, there it was..,a little eeny weeny clause saying I'd be charged some extortionate amount if .., blah blah).
Needless to say I didn't order. But I'm afraid this type of company appeals to our greed. You can't be conned if you're not greedy (want something for nothing).
I want a PS4 as cheap as possible for my sons. Found a really cheap one. Looked brilliant til I found out it had a tiny tiny hard drive so I'd have to spend what I was saving buying a hard drive to enable games to be played lol. I had to do some searching to find this out.
If you ask yourself why this is so cheap.., and do some research, its the only way to prevent such cons. There are some bargains out there, but be sceptical not a mug.0 -
Yes I agree...but everybody gets caught off guard at least once in their lives, plus I never expected to receive such a decent sized package. For a trial I merely expected small sachets but hey ho I came out of this much better than some. I think this thread is designed to raise awareness anyway, not insult those poor folks who are sadly out of pocket by calling them mugs.0

Hello everyone.
At the top of my Yahoo email, an advert appeared today for this Age Renew offer. Thought I would do a quick scam search for this product and found that, via the info on this site, it is indeed a naughty post to obtain money in an underhand way.
Their terms are mentioned in the advert in the small print underneath the postage terms:
We will send you a 30 day supply of AgeRenew's Advanced Serum for £2.95 and we will ship your package the following business day after placing your order. Thus, in order for you to try the product please consider that end of the trial period is 14 days after you placed your order. If you are unhappy with the product at any time during those 14 days, call Customer Care at +44 800 249 4323 to cancel your order and avoid being billed for the cost of the product. If you are satisfied with your product, then do nothing and we will bill you for your initial order, and every 30 day thereafter we will send you a new 30-day supply of AgeRenew and automatically bill you the low price of £84.71. To cancel automatic delivery and billing, call Customer Care at +44 800 249 4323. The Transaction will show on your Credit Card statement as TRYAGERENEW.COM.
You have all the information now to, hopefully, avoid getting scammed.0 -
Yes, Mr Sycorax saw this ad on Yahoo and thought I'd like to try it and why not just for £2.95 postage for a free trial. As it happened he'd given my email address and a few days ago an email arrived telling me my 14 day trial was about to expire and I will be charged and sent a supply every month (the cost wasn't in the email but is buried deep in their website)l....sorry, what the chuff I thought this was a 'free trial'???
Anyway, I emailed, rang and contacted them via their website to cancel the subscription. Got all the hooey about return numbers and posting back the product within the 14 day trial (which I did). Got hold of the bank to try and stop any payments, they said they couldn't stop them but if any come through they would refund.
I have had an email from AgeRenew confirming the subscription has been cancelled and no payments will be claimed.....the payment would have been due on 16th Nov, we'll see what happens on that one, I'll keep you posted. Obviously I've kept all the emails I've sent, received, proof of posting etc etc
Contact numbers and addresses for this bunch of shysters via this link.

You know what's so ironic, I tried the stuff and it did really work. It's the first gob cream I've ever used that showed a noticable and significant difference and all within a few days. I actually do rate the product (not enough to pay £89 a month though, especially when I've been scammed) . What's the matter with this organisation, if they used some ethical selling practices they'd be able to reduce the cost and the cream would sell itself!'I think that God, in creating Man, somewhat overestimated his ability'..Oscar Wilde0 -
You can win your case against this lot. I was only ripped off for £35 but I got the same story about terms & conditions which were not displayed. The only way to beat them is to use their bullying tactics.
Several emails were sent backwards and forwards but when they received the following I received confirmation that they had refunded my money within 10 minutes! The obviously don’t want to defend their case in court as they would be unlikely to win and they are obviously worried about a group of their victims getting together to publicly denounce them. Be firm, keep fighting, they will back down!
This is the email I sent them:
Please send me your service address for legal documents in the UK so I can issue County Court Claim Documents.
If the sum claimed is NOT paid within 24 hours I intend to start a campaign with other victims of you scam to take this matter further. I have enclosed a few pages of complaint from various victims of your scam; this is just a small section of the dossier I am building up. So far I've got details of in excess of 300 dissatisfied UK Age Renew customers all of which consider they have been ripped off.
I intend to post an invitation on all of the review sites of customers that feel they have been scammed by your company asking them to join me in building up a strong case against your company to present to various BBC consumer programs and to the national press. I fully accept that I have been ripped off but in truth £33.88 is in real terms of little significance, it is the principal that you continue to rip off unsuspecting customers for what I can see are substantial sums for a poor quality product using totally underhand and perhaps illegal marketing techniques. When I phoned my bank to query the payment they instantly knew what it was about when I mentioned your name, they knew about your scam and said it was a regular occurrence so I guess this happens to huge number of people.
The offer I received said, ‘CHOOSE ONE OF THE FOUR FOLLOWING GIFTS WORTH OVER £30'. How could your offer on the terms you supply be worth OVER £30? As you can see from the small sample of complaints attached none of the other victims saw any terms and conditions.
In a way I hope you don't accept my claim, I'm looking forward to a fight and if it adds damage to rip-off organizations such as your company then it'll be worth the effort!
See you in Court, TV and the National Press!
Don't forget to send your service address that could rub even more salt in the wound if you're not willing to fight your case in Court!
YOU CAN WIN, Just use their tactics, Take them to court and use data on sites such as this to back up your case, they will give way but even if it gets to court you will win, they are in the wrong.0
