This scam is still going on!
I have also been caught out.
Paid £1.95 plus £1 postage for trial and was debited two weeks later for £89.71
I rang the company and an American lady said it was in the terms and conditions that if I didn't cancel I would be charged a further amount.
I have no knowledge of these terms and conditions.
My bank is looking into it for me and have raised a visa dispute.
any one else had any luck with a refund??0 -
Having read all of these comments I have replied to the AgeRenew confirmation email and stated that I do not authorise any payments from my credit card beyond the £2.95 (that's already a pending transaction on my card!). I've also written to my card provider to advise them of the same. Let's see what happens next! Well, that was quick. As I write I've had a reply from AgeRenew saying that my account has been cancelled. Account? Hmmm, I don't remember creating any kind of account. Very dodgy.0

In responce to the request
(a) Agerenewtrial.com, item calledAgerenew/Anti-aging cream Lumagenex
(b) Skincarestopten.com, item called AKTIVEAM/PM
(c) Howlingnews.blogspot.com, item called AYUR Renewal/BEAUTEmd
Also a name used is BEAUTYLABS, most of these items use the same Dr OZ,and Oprah`s backstage skincare secrets as a front, and the free offer0 -
My wife ordered trial packages of skin cream Age Renew and teeth whitening from Total White (Smile). Both were not suggesting any future purchases, EXCEPT if you read the vvv small print when the packages arrived, 14 day free trial then £89/79 pounds taken from your account on a monthly basis... Age Renew, we called to send back but they had already taken two payments rather than one and although polite on the phone, I doubt if we will get the refund... scammers
The other Total White Smile, are a Dutch based outfit and they dispatch the free, just pay postage, trial and on the small print, says look at a detailed T+C's web page, nothing on the original web page or order pages about after 14 days, they will scam you and take money and send more garbage... They were rude on the phone and will not refund anything.
I have raised disputes with my Mastercard company but don't hold my breath... Disgraceful behaviour, scammers, avoid like the plague... I would not be surprised that they have written the reviews found elsewhere about how good the treatments are... W0 -
Yes just been caught myself. It was a free trial for £1 + £1.95pp, so I sent off for it.
And today got my credit card bill for 89.71, and phoned them and they said there was a check box next to where you enter your credit details, well I didn't see it, The product is not worth £90, and I would not have spent that sort of money on a beauty product being a OAP. I can't find the website to check their details as they said, I think I got the link when I was looking at Facebook.
Definitely a con, and have posted this on Facebook. So others don't get caught.0 -
Hi, I too have just been conned by agerenew! I too feel stupid. I have rang and sent several emails to both age renew and lumagenix. Lumagenix have emailed me to say that my second lot of cream was now void and I would get my full refund. Have not checked with my partner's bank (as it was his account I used!). He's not very pleased with me! We will have to wait and see. As for age renew, I spoke to an american lady who just kept on saying "it s in the terms and conditions" which happen to be the very first page right at the very bottom in small writing! Not on the page where you request the sample. We were also billed over £160 and today I received yet another sample of age renew serum! I have emailed again but are waiting a reply. We are pensioners and cannot afford to get conned this way. it is making me feel ill worrying about this and the amount of money being taken out of our account. I can only wait and hope!!0

Hi All,
I thouoht I would just write to tell you that I too was conned by this Agerenew product!! It was offered as a 'free' gift after completing an online survey, all I had to do was pay the handling and shipping costs which I did.
I only found out yesterday that my credit card had been billed for the £89.71 so immediately got on the phone to their customer services and spoke to a vey rude American lady who kept telling me I had ticked the box to say I was over 18 and had agreed to the terms and conditions (I didn't tick this box it was already ticked!!) I told the woman that this had been advertised as a free gift so why was I being billed for a monthly membership of this useless cream, told her that I wanted an RMA so I could return the serum but she refused and then put the phone down on me!!
I decided to send an email to customer services laying all this out and telling them that this was a total scam and that not only had I reportd it to my credit card company who were treating it as fraud I had also informed Trading Standards, lo and behold this morning I have had a confirmation email telling me that the whole £89.71 had been refunded and would show on my account within 3-5 business, I shall wait and see if they do.
An unexpected victory I feel given what I have read on here from other people. My advice is to do as I did and write an email stating fraud and Trading Standards, it seems to have got them sitting up an paying notice.
On a similar theme, another cream/serum offered under the same guise is being marketed thje same, Equinox will bill you for $104 if you do not cancel your agreement within 14days, just thought I should warn you all, I shall be much more vigilant in future that is for sure!!0 -
I have been scammed. like many others by the USA company called Lumagenex and Tryagerenew.com I have just read on another website that you can ask your bank to apply something called Chargeback? to get this company to refund your money. Is this possibly true? I applied for the free trial offer and as it was via their website I was not aware of any smallprint. They took my debit card details for two small samples, just to cover the postage costs. Now, one month later I have had two amounts taken from my account by them, respectively, £87.95 and £89.71. I phoned the New York company on the given 0800 number and tried to get a refund, which was denied me. They accepted my cancellation of my so called "order" though and this will remain to be seen. I am a typical hard up pensioner and can't afford this kind of money vanishing from my account. I hope this all gets sorted out for everyone concerned.0

However, you bank is likely to refuse a chargeback on the basis that you agreed to the terms, including the need to cancel the ongoing subscription, at the time of placing the order. Even if the bank accept the chargeback request, the seller will probably robustly state that they have done nothing that you have not agreed to.
Please don't let that put you off asking for a chargeback. Must be worth a phone call.0
