Probably because it reads better and adds more drama than "slightly miffed".

No, won't be rewording, it was very factually .... Incandesent with rage, it was completely OTT and as I just posted in the other reply, I never expected it, never had any inkling it would have such a reaction otherwise hindsight being a marvellous thing I would clearly have kept my mouth shut as it's not my dog and had left her to sleep uncomfortably

    Imagine a dog, & a dog's bed... Smelling of dog.... Heavens forbid......

As has been said, not that you're getting it.... Dogs & cats sleep wherever they fancy... Comfy or not - & are very capable of moving themselves

& the 'we should have kept her' comments....  unless you see more signs than a scraggy bed, & a pup that's got a icky tummy when staying at a strange house..... Then you really have no right to say things like that...

But as others have said.... It adds drama...

Dogs, cats and other animals frequently sleep on the floor, ground, grass etc without the benefit of foam or other form of padding all the time. They seem to be perfectly happy with it.

My dog regularly pulls the stuffing out of his bed, so often has no padding. I've had to replace his bed at least twice a year. I've even taking to scrounging old pillows off of family to put in his bed when his has destroyed his current bed. Perhaps your friend has the same problem with her dog and is getting a bit fed up of replacing the bedding?

I'm going to be giving my dog fleece blankets once he has completely destroyed his current bed. Hopefully they last longer than the stuffing filled beds ;)

This is very true! Currently, my cats new favourite place to sleep is in the Ali Baba basket! The lid had fell off and in he climbed. We'd searched high and low for him, and that's where he was! As he is nearly black, all we could see was a pair of green eyes searching back up at us! :rotfl:

I thought that was a weird thing to say too, especially as it was mentioned more than once. You're not angling to get the dog are you OP?

Heaven forbid you should see where my cats sleep. There are currently 8 cat beds of all shapes, sizes and types in this house. They also have the choice of a spare bed, 3 sofas, a bean bag and comfy chair.

The 2 who curl up together choose to sleep in a manky old cat bed that was only retrieved from the bin at 2am when one of them yowled for so long it became plain no-one was getting any sleep. Not even a brand new bed of the same type gets touched!

Animals will find their own sleeping spots (one of our cats won't go near any sort of cat designed thing - beds, climbers, toys) and the shifting uncomfortably is much more likely to be due to strange surroundings than the bed. If the dog didn't like the bed then it would sleep elsewhere, the issue is more likely to be that the bed smelt different being in another house, or was somewhere warmer/colder/noisier/with a different view than normal.

I think the strangest place one of my cats has slept.... Is on top of a door.... How on earth she managed it was beyond me!! She also used to climb on top the of the curtain pelmet in our kitchen..... :rotfl: we were beside ourselves panicking that she'd gone the first few times she did it!:rotfl:

My dog... Had a strange affection for the sideboard cubby hole in our hallway...

All this despite having lovely beds that were so comfy & plush..... Didn't interest them....

But to love pets is to love their quirky ways..... I say this as one of my cats is sat currently licking a plastic folder that's on the bed with my chaff stuff in..... My boyfriends quote..... #shelovesherplasticlol....:rotfl:

The strangest place I've found one of the cats is in the bath. The only use one of the hooded cat beds gets is that occasionally my oldest cat will sleep on the top of it (collapsing the roof onto the nice, soft cushion inside).

Currently one is asleep on my feet, one is inside a cardboard box (we just moved house and he adopted it the second it was unpacked) and the other (white) one is asleep on a black tshirt that was carelessly left within his reach on the back of the sofa (tshirt & cat are now on the floor as his balance wasn't as good as he thought once he was snoozing!). In the morning I fully expect to find two of them in the manky bed - it's not within eyesight of me so they'll stay where they are until I go to bed in case they miss a late night food opportunity :D

Thank you for all the replies, the dog bed was something like this one

all the stuffing/foam/padding had gone from it, owner said it cost £80 but link says £15 in the sale and £5 postage.

yes anxiety can cause loose bowels and we were very aware that she seemed rather edgy and looking towards the door, she needed a lot of cuddles and reassurance, she found it hard.

rottensocks have to agree with you, it was way beyond a necessary reaction but as you say people are very touchy about their furry pet:D normally yes a good friend, must have really hit a nerve...

Having read a number of your posts, I suspect you can be somewhat tactless and I think it was probably the way you mentioned the bed rather than the bed itself. And the whole wanting to keep the dog is downright odd. I think you are looking for faults with the owner, so you can keep the dog and kid yourself on that you have 'rescued it'.

Oh and another thing - bathing the dog? Would have really p1ssed me off. My dogs smell like dogs, not elderflower and bergamot. They also have very sensitive skin and if some random person plonked them in the bath and covered them in whatever soap they chose, they could set off a really nasty reaction.

It is not your dog - time you got used to that idea.
