Dogs, cats and other animals frequently sleep on the floor, ground, grass etc without the benefit of foam or other form of padding all the time. They seem to be perfectly happy with it.

My dog regularly pulls the stuffing out of his bed, so often has no padding. I've had to replace his bed at least twice a year. I've even taking to scrounging old pillows off of family to put in his bed when his has destroyed his current bed. Perhaps your friend has the same problem with her dog and is getting a bit fed up of replacing the bedding?

I'm going to be giving my dog fleece blankets once he has completely destroyed his current bed. Hopefully they last longer than the stuffing filled beds ;)

No idea, owner never said how many if any dog bed pillows, cushions, foam inserts had been replaced.

I thought that was a weird thing to say too, especially as it was mentioned more than once. You're not angling to get the dog are you OP?

No, not really a comment more than the poor dog was uncomfortable shame the owner or ourselves can't buy the dog a new comfy bed, if she was ours we would buy her a new bed, type of comment, no more than that, never mentioned to owner, never thought seriously about wanting the dog for life... 1 week is a complete different scenario than having the dog here for life... We both work... Have busy lives... So no angling there

Of course what Victory could do is to rehome a dog - and then she can buy it all the beds she wants

    Uhm not understanding that?

Having read a number of your posts, I suspect you can be somewhat tactless and I think it was probably the way you mentioned the bed rather than the bed itself. And the whole wanting to keep the dog is downright odd. I think you are looking for faults with the owner, so you can keep the dog and kid yourself on that you have 'rescued it'.

Oh and another thing - bathing the dog? Would have really p1ssed me off. My dogs smell like dogs, not elderflower and bergamot. They also have very sensitive skin and if some random person plonked them in the bath and covered them in whatever soap they chose, they could set off a really nasty reaction.

It is not your dog - time you got used to that idea.

You suspect but don't know, you have no proof whatsoever your above extra drama scenario actually took place, that adds to your own salicious hearsay not actual facts;) keeping the dog odd why?

You would be peeved if some random person plonked dog in bath? Owner was perfectly happy :D never commented on that whatsoever as for the dog bed as we factually know was

Just to recap as we are going over same ground?.... I realise now it has been pointed out to me dogs are very attached to their beds, it would have been a whole lot worse if I had replaced and never bothered to mention the missing foam..... I have asked on here if the dog could have had a new bed and slowly be introduced to the new one?

Yes of course a dog could be introduced to a new bed, but that's up to the owner if and when they want to buy him a new one, not you.

The owners reaction was unexpected to say the least, Wording and reaction not ever exaggerated for drama effect as has been said, we washed dog, we tried to wash bedding, we never said once ever to owner we wanted dog,she was lovely but 1 week is massively different from a dog for life, that's about it, all questions answered, going to enjoy the sunshine:D

Basically, you've washed the dog, you've tried to wash the bedding, you're basically saying to the owner 'your dog and the dogs accessories stink!', maybe she's took that to insinuate you mean that she's a skank and her house stinks too? People can be very touchy about things like that.

I still think that it wasn't the fact that the dog was turning round and round etc trying to get comfortable, more the fact that he in general was uncomfortable in strange surroundings, he was restless. Dogs and cats can sleep in the most uncomfortable positions. Like someone else mentioned above, my cat has been found sleeping in a bath many times....and a baths got no padding!

What exactly did your friend say? I'm curious what 'incandescent' with rage sounds like!

Trying to wash the bed might have been what made the dog restless. Everything already smelled very different, that could have added to it.

Yes there was, you said it several times in your replies (see the quote above for an example) and also that you were upset you 'thought' the dog was still uncomfortable now it's back at home.

Not that busy if you have time to post about something like this (again);)

Meaning....Worry about your own things rather than other peoples, get your own dog.

Odd because because something as small as a worn dog bed, & the fact that a dog was unsettled in a strange environment... Had you even thinking the dog wasn't being looked after!

You've had several replies along similar lines on your other threads. You do like drama, you only have to look at any of your threads, but then when people take the time to reply to you, you then reply along the lines of no, you're not in the wrong, you're not overthinking it, you're not overreacting- then state you're off to do something far more worthy of your time. If all these events are so insignificant, and you're not even thinking about them really....Why post? Why not just keep chatting amongst your family?

Over time, you can try to introduce new things, but not when you're only dog sitting for 1 week. Purely for the owner to make that decision though.

If it's not really drama, & you weren't after keeping the dog..... Then why post about it in the first place ?? Especially if enjoying the sunshine was more interesting than replying to posts? You obviously feel that you are in the right & the owner is wrong.

You shouldn't have washed the dog, nor the bedding without speaking to the owner first, you have no idea if the dog had any skin conditions, could only use one type of shampoo, perhaps it might be sensitive to washing detergent (if you had washed the bed). The reality is.... You could have ended up dealing with a lot worse scenario than the dog having an upset tummy..

Victory: i know you probably thought your intentions were good, but the road to hell is paved with good intentions. You've a good heart, but maybe think about things a little more before acting on anything in the future.... I sometimes act before thinking, & it doesn't end well.
For example, if someone did something to your kids before checking with you....say fed them something you didn't want them to have, or made something with an ingredient that didn't agree with them, or helped them dye their hair a crazy colour, what would your reaction be? Your friend feels this way over their dog. Hopefully in time you'll mend this with them. .

Im clearly being trolled by someone who has made two posts on the forum, both about the fact I have pet cats.

Before I block you, if you continue to make new usernames and do the same, I'll block them as well, so you can carry on talking to yourself as much as you like

    Have a nice day:rotfl:
