i fry onion pepper carrot beans (whatevers lurking) and potatoes for about 5 mins,
add a bit of flour, stock, seasoning etc,
add water and simmer for 15 mins stirring occasionally,
then add corned beef cubes, cook for another 5 mins or so

its possibly my favourite meal :D

    Hi gerturdeanna :)

I've added your question onto the end of a thread that is loaded with corned beef hash recipes. Posts are listed in date order so you'll need to read from the beginning to catch up :)

    Good luck :)

Does anyone know where to get cheap corned beef these days? Over the past year or so it seems to have rocketed

wow thanks for resurrecting this thread :D we have not had corned beef hash for ages and now I have a slow cooker (currently collecting dust) I can try making it in there :)

I think I will change my Nanas recipie ( posted earlier on in the thread ) and add some swede and carrots. Now need to go find the thread on cooking dumplings in a slow cooker :p

I made one today, ended up with

    2 tins corned beef
    1 1/2 pints of stock
5 small potatoes chopped (boiled partly first)
    4 carrots chopped
    2 very large mushrooms
    Peas ( good handful)
3 slices of bread blended to crumbs to thicken

And it's fanbloomingtastic :D all guess work, just kept trying it to see if it was nice, made a BIG pan full so freezing 2 tubs of it. No frying needed just boiled the lot and stuck it in a pan for about an hour, I really need a slow cooker. I wanted to put pearl barley in but I had ran out. Dad usually puts pasta in his aswell.

I think I paid about 89p from LIDLS but had it in ages and using up my stock cupboard and veg that was about to go off :)

wow i never knew there were so many ways of cooking it!!

i've always cooked the spuds and mashed with butter an milk, fry up some onion then add the corned beef and baked beans. add corned beef mixture to a pyrex basin an top with mash then bake in the oven

i will definately try some of the other versions.. i feel like i've missed out! lol
It only seems kinky the first time.. :A

Mine isn't the traditional way of course, literally just using up what I had in, might do some with beans next week, I think I overstocked on the corned beef so have a lot to use.
