chris'on wrote:Hi can any one help me. I'm from the North east and we used to make a corn beef dish which was called (and I don't know if this is the right spelling cause I've never seen it written down!) panacklety. this was basically a corn beef stew cooked either in the oven or on top. potatoes, corn beef onions and often carrots were layer to go in the oven or it was all thrown into a sausepan and cooked on top. Does anyone elase know about this or if the spelling is right.
Thanks
Could you mean Pan Haggerty ? Definitely a North Eastern thing. My recipes for it are for a potato and cheese dish cooked on the stove top. Your dish could be a variation on it.0 -
Mine must be the only family on this planet that doesn't use potatoes!!!!
Our CBH is just a tin of CB fried off in a bit of lea and perrins and a crushed garlic clove (variation on the original but it is nice!), throw in a tin of tomatoes til hot and add cooked rice. Mix round and serve.
I feel a bit abnormal now!!!0 -

I use cubed cooked new potatoes, cubes of corned beef, salt and pepper and dash of worcester sauce.
I fry all of this in butter until crispy, and check for seasoning as it can sometimes be quite bland.
I serve mine with a fried egg on top. YumHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Good Food mag had one for "Red Flannel Hash" which was corned beef, onion and boiled beetroot (as in not the pickled in vinegar version
). Was very nice.
My usual is fried onion, tin of new potatoes chopped, chopped corned beef, sometimes chuck in some peas/sweet corn and then tin of baked beans over the top.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Hi angela,
There's an older thread with lots of recipes on it so I've merged your thread with it to keep all the suggestions together.

I used to do something similar to this and it was called ´cowboy pie´
Baked beans and corned beef mixed, pastry rolled out into oblong, put mixture down the middle and fold pastry over, seam along the top. For a more ´posh´version the side pastry can be cut diagonally and then plaited over the top of bean mixture. Alternatively you can make this mixture into individual pasties0 -
Just bumping this up as trying to show my OH that I can use less money lol

Every month I try out a new recipe to see if the family like it or not. February's one is going to be corned beef hash. Whilst I've found various recipes for it on the net, I was just checking that corned beef is the stuff that you find in the tins (like Spam)? I've looked on Tesco website and they have tins of Princes Corned Beef. Is this what I am looking for?Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010
