Choc, you need to call the Dr again, please. Get OH to get you some Gatorade (much better than water, which can actually make things worse).

It doesn't necessarily mean ET will be postponed. Mine still went ahead, just with a LOT of blood tests for the next week lol.

Please call though. Obviously the last thing I'm trying to do is scare you but OHSS can be serious and you need to be careful xx
  • I took your advice ladies and called the doctor again, I've been admitted to hospital though I think its more just precautionery so they can keep an eye on me. Gutted though as cant see ET going ahead tomorrow now and I've missed a dose of pregesterone as well

Sorry to hear that Choc but it's important your body is in the best possible condition for transfer. As some of the others have said, they will do transfer if it's only mild ohss- one of my friends has just had a baby following ivf with ohss which required an overnight admission but where they still did transfer. Take care of yourself - hope you get the news you want.
  • Sorry to hear that choc but like the ladies have said, you need to be fit and healthy as well as the embies. I'm keeping all bits crossed that you feel better soon and they can still go ahead xxx

Choc sorry to hear you are in hospital but also glad you are being looked after IFSWIM. Hope you start to feel better soon and will be keeping everything crossed for you re. ET.

Picklekin good luck with the adoption route, is there a reason you think you won't be accepted or just general nervousness? Not trying to pry so tell me to mind my own business by all means!

AFM I'm afraid I have come on for a pity party so look away now (I'm also on a diet though so it will have to be a party with celery instead of wine and cake). One of my colleagues has just told me she is pregnant - which I already knew as she has been wildly hinting for the past week. She has various issues which may have made conceiving difficult so I know I should be happy for her rather than being a jealous bitter old cow but I can't help it. She only came off her contraception a few weeks ago and actually told me on Friday that she definitely wasn't ready for a baby and was hoping she didn't get pregnant - but wasn't using any contraception at the same time. She knows all about my issues (she is the only one at work who does) and I can't help feeling she is being a little bit insensitive - she has already phoned me twice this morning to tell me she is having morning sickness and how tired she is etc. We have a meeting shortly and I'm dreading it as it is just the two of us and I don't know how I'm going to pretend to be excited for her when I just want to sit in my office and cry (which is what I have spent most of the morning doing). I hate that this is making me so bitter and vile and self absorbed and I don't know what to do about it. I just want to hide away in a dark room.

I can't remember if I have updated but I met with my consultant a few weeks ago after my failed HSG and he has referred me for surgery. I am having three procedures, the name of which all escape me atm, but basically they are going to check my tubes and remove some scar tissue. He has said that this may allow me to conceive naturally so we have agreed to delay any IVF for another six months after the op - which there is a 12 week waiting list for. This is really positive news but I'm just struggling to see the good in it at the moment. I'm hoping I will feel better once I get a date for the op as at least that will be something concrete.

Sorry for the self pity ladies :o

ETA and sorry for the update just after you posted the list FP - we cross posted!

Floaty - I had the down-regulation Buserelin spray which is dead easy to carry around with you, it doesn't need to be refrigerated or anything and can be stashed in a handbag. xxx

Picklekin - good luck with the adoption route! We've looked into it and got a couple of brochures from some agencies but the thing that always lets us down is the "must have experience with children" bit (which is quite hard to get if you don't have any little ones in the family already and there's no way of volunteering somewhere). I hope it all goes well for you xxx

Fairy - how you getting on dr-ing? xxx

ETA: no worries shrimpy! I'll update the list :) Pity party is fine, I'll pass round the leftover Easter chocolate xxx
  • ET has been cancelled, I'm absolutely gutted, feel like I've gone through all this for nothing. Don't get me wrong I completely understand why, they said I've presented with the symptoms early on and wouikd be extremely concerned for my health if I were to get pregnant, just felt like we were so close. Only 4 embys made it to the blast stage which have been frozen for when we're ready to try again. Waiting on an abdominal scan now so haven't been allowed anything other than water since 4 yesterday so I'm so hungry. Feeling completely depressed and sorry for myself now.

When I get out of hospital will I have to take some time off work? No-ones said to me, just that it will take a few weeks to clear up

Oh sweetie, I can fully see why you're upset. Have a big, gentle hug xx.

The rising hormone levels from a pg can make the symptoms so much worse so it's good that they're erring on the side of caution. Plus, there is some research out there now that says FET with blasts has a better success rate anyway... so this really could be win win... just with a longer time-frame than you were planning.

Hope the scan goes well and that you get to go home soon (and eat something!)

Re. work - I suppose you just have to see how you feel. A day or so to recover wouldn't be a bad idea.

Take care, thinking of you xx.
