  • So it's been a hectic few weeks. The abdominal pain I have been having may actually be scar tissue from an appendectomy! But they are sending me for a bladder ultrasound just incase.

I was also having a really long cycle I had tested negative but 36 days in to my cycle (Friday) I bought another test and got a BFP!!!!

I can't quite believe it yet!

I have only posted on hear a little bit but have been reading for ages and i found it so supportive to know that I wasn't alone.

I could say all the patronising things now but instead I'll just say good luck and thank you for all the silly stories and comments that kept me smiling x

    Congratulations nightaky.:j

Speaking of the patronising things people say, 2 of my middle aged colleagues and I were having a chat. One of them is a granny and was saying that she hopes her next grandchild is a girl and that she'll tell that to her daughter. Then followed a conversation about her other daughter who desperately wants another baby but its not happening (from earlier conversations, they struggled to conceive their first). Anyway fhe next part of the conversation went like this:

Granny: I've told her to relax. She needs to relax. I tell her this all the time.
Me: Oh my god! Don't ever say that to her again!
Other woman: Why? I don't understand how this feels. All I had to do was be in the same room as a guy and I got pregnant.
Me (thinking, you guys know that we can't have kids): For goodness sake. The most annoying thing you can say to someone is 'Just relax'. Its not all that easy. Followed by 'oooh I'm so very fertile'.
Granny: But she already has one.
    Me: Arrrgh.

  • Congratulations nightsky! Thats wonderful news xx

Code some people are just truly unbelievable, they just can't seem to comprehend how difficult it is for people who can't conceive. I've met so many people who said just relax, it'll happen, NO IT FLIPPING WELL WON'T!!!!

    Congrats Nightsky!

If relaxing actually worked, and I had done so every time I had relaxed, our house would be like the flippin' Waltons by now!

Had a rubbish day yesterday. Diet went out the window thanks to scrummy birthday cake from a work colleague, then I started watching that multiple births programme on ITV last night. Ruddy smug people going 'we were so surprised as we had only just started trying, and then we found out we were having twins' Poor them, had to go and stuff some jaffa cakes as I felt so sorry for them...

Congratulations nightsky! I'm happy to pop you into the graduates bit of the list whenever you feel ready :) xx

chocoholic - I'll add TMI into the list, hadn't thought of that one - thanks! How's the stimming going? xx

Elephant - thankfully the clinic are pretty good at keeping the baby pics, etc hidden (they do have photo albums but they're in a place you wouldn't go and look at). Tuesday will be here before you know it! xx

code - some people truly have no idea! Definitely sounds like a :wall: moment xx

Tam - Ahh I recorded that programme but haven't watched it yet. I did wonder whether to or not tbh, think I might just delete from the hard drive anyway. I don't really watch OBEM any more (not enough IVF stories) but did anyone else notice next week's episode claims to feature a couple who've been trying for 6 years?

tea - Say what? you mean people can actually make babies on their own? Surely not!? :rotfl:

Just thought of a few more acronyms as well - FWIW, TBH, AFM and IYSWIM - I'll add them to the list :)

Hope everyone's well (and possibly looking forward to a little bit of this :easter_ba next week) xxxx

  • TamVilla - Sorry you had such a rubbish day, don't worry about the diet, it was just one day and you're allowed the odd day like that, it's not realistic to think we're going to go through the rest of our lives with no birthday cake or jaffa cakes! So don't dwell on it or beat yourself up over it

Frozenpenguin - It's going OK I think, don't feel any different or anything! But only had two injections so far.

Realised it's been 4 weeks since I had any alcohol, I think that might be the longest I've been without alcohol in my adult life!

Also found out that the hospital I'm at at for my treatment is the first in the region to use Embryoscope incubators which can apparently increase the success rate of IVF so that's something positive :) They did mention it a few weeks ago that they were trialling it and they might use that method with me, but it seems that all patients will be using this now so I'm guessing they were happy with the results.

Thanks Choc - what if I had also just eaten half an Easter egg that has been sitting on my desk all week...?! (because I may have just eaten half an Easter egg...)

Good news on your incubator trial, that just sounds like it will help lots of little embies to get big and ready to go :)
