The only room in any order is that of my 19yr old son. He has a bit OCD. All his DVDs games etc are in alphabetical order.
My OH is a bit like me...and that annoys me! One of his foibles is that he cannot put anything away. He takes everything to 'almost' where it should go then leaves it. The mop and bucket will sit at the garage door! The hoover will sit at the door to the cupboard under the stair! I have a laundry bin at the top of the stair, he appears to be unable to lift the top. His things either get put on top or beside the bin! He does not put empty shampoo, deoerant, toilet rolls, shower gel bottles in the bin! They are just left!
you married to my OH? he also walks PAST the recycling bin to put empty lager cans next to the sink!0 -
I have a few...and many that have already been mentioned!
Curtains must not have a gap or I can't sleep.
Cupboards, drawers and wardrobe doors need to be properly closed or I can't sleep.
Can't abide ticking clocks especially in a bedroom have been known to (temporarily) remove the batteries when staying in someone's house!
No lights at nights on any chargers, extension leads or clocks. I will cover them if necessary. The first time I slept with my partner I had to cover up his clock radio!
I have to wash my hands after handling coins.
The cutlery thing...must be lined up.
The loo roll thing...must be over not under.
I can't walk on drains or manhole covers.
I can't stand balloons, sight of them, the way they move or the smell(!) of them. I can't even touch them. Helium ones are ok though.
My mugs on the mug tree must all face the same way.
Washing up has to be rinsed with clean water after washing to get rid of all the suds etc. (Haven't got a dishwasher)
My car windscreen wipers must be down when I take the key out of the ignition.
I always set the 'trip' to zero when I fill up the tank. To qualify, I once had an old car with a non-working petrol gauge so this was my method ... and the habit stuck.
CDs are in alphabetical order of artist.
The TV volume must be on an even number.
I might add to this list! Have edited

How many of us have acquired these foibles from someone else? I'm thinking here of the under/ over loo roll thing: my OH insists on it hanging under while I had no system, twelve years later I too insist on it hanging under

Books and CDs are colour blocked, which is pleasing to the eye and, so long as you remember the colour of the spine, simple to use.
Clean, dry laundry is folded and stacked like with like (i.e. all home t shirts together, all work tops together, school trousers together etc) before being delivered to the appropriate room for each person to put away. On the rare occasion the OH does it he will take a huge pile upstairs which has all the big things on the bottom, working up to the smallest things at the top  rather than each person's things together. It's just wrong!
Ketchup on a meal must be in a neat dollop at the edge of the plate, rather than trailed all over the food _pale_
The tap MUST be turned off during tooth brushing. Failure to do so may result in bodily harm or relationship breakdown.
There are probably more.....They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.

Haha this is a quality thread!
I need to have the volume on an even number, but multiples of 5 are allowed! Pillow has to be cold, I must flip it 5-10 times a night. The rug (with tassles) has to be perfectly straight and all tassles pointing in the same direction0 -
Volume for the TV or in the car has to be set to an even number or it just feels weird!
I rub the hems, corners or fabric, soft fabric etc. think it is a comfort thing when I am nervous.
Hate the toilet seat being left up - still failing to train OH to put it down after use and especially before flushing!
I hate foods of a certain texture, like banana, baked beans/kidney beans etc. but like the flavour of those foods!
Hate light coming through the curtains, in the summer I have a black out blind with a curtain hooked over it to stop any light coming in!Expecting Baby No 1 - 20/06/14 - Team Yellow!0 -
I'm very 'wary' of vegetables. I won't eat them. I do eat the odd bit of mushroom if it's not huge (or a mushroom risotto which I love), and the tiniest bits of pepper (although the skin scares me a bit cos I think I read somewhere it doesn't digest - I love the flavour of peppers, I just don't like crunching on a chunk of them). Occasionally, I'll say put a small slice of courgette or something on the plate just to try it, and I'll look at it, and umm and ahh, and eventually go 'no, I just can't do it'. Occasionally they'll get chopped up in something and I'll eat them. Same with carrots. Have to be tiny. I did manage to eat some in a shepherd's pie the other day. Obviously I pulled out the bits that were 'too large'.
I will eat some salad now (on the side, not a whole order of salad). I like rocket and most 'leaves', but other things freak me out (wouldn't choose a bag of salad with beetroot in or tomatoes in. Raw onions are evil. Ate half a brussels sprout at Christmas by mistake and nearly threw up - was on my work's do so managed to guzzle enough wine to forget about it. Yuck. I eat potatoes, no probs there, and now eat sweet potatoes too. Can't imagine eating a pea, or a raw tomato (don't mind tomato based sauces, but won't eat a huge chunk - don't mind sundried tomatoes so much).
Freak.

If I turn round, I have to turn back the same way to kind of 'unwind' myself or I feel weird. I always have to walk with my left arm linked in whoever I'm with, doesn't feel right if I'm on the other side.
Omg, I do those two things too! I sometimes wonder if the last one is something to do with me being left handed? Because my husband (who is right handed) prefers it when we walk that way (me on his right) and if I'm round the other side, tells me that I'm on he wrong side!
It's weird, reading all the quirks back, it's clear that a lot of us have the same or very similar ones. People say 'Don't sweat the small stuff', but I'm actually the other way round, for example, when big things/a crisis happens, I'm actually really calm and laid back.
My colleagues were always amazed how calm I could be with irate customers on a daily basis, when they felt like they wanted to rip their heads off, and also when my husband put petrol in my diesel car  he was flapping around like a little girl, whilst I stayed calm and got it sorted, I just always think, well it's happened, what's the point in getting wound up about it, you can't change it....so it's really weird how particular I can be about certain things.

Yo Sis! :rotfl: I actually really love vegetables, I don't think there is one that I don't like? I could easily just eat a plate of vegetables....and I love sprouts!
It's actually become a running joke 'oh Georgie loves sprouts', my MIL who hates them saved hers for me at Christmas.
I'll eat most thing tbh, apart from mince and certain shaped pasta....the less said about that though the better I think! :rotfl:0 -
Reading this I now know I am quite laid back. Toilet rolls have to hang from the front. I like things quite tidy but not immaculate.
I think living with DH who is quite retentive about cupboards being ordered, curtains just right, drawers and wardrobes shut, pillowcases a specific way (in case his albeit big head gets stuck :rotfl:), the list is endless and it has made me far more unworried than I used to be. I hate the way he puts the tins and jars all clumped together as I can never find anything!
I don't like plug sockets that are empty but are still switched on, have to turn those off.
I hate cooking smells and have to have the kitchen door shut and the windows open.0 -
