I can't stop thinking of things now...must be weirder than I thought!

I have to finish knitting at the end of a wrong side row. I write down every book I read in a notebook and always try to beat last year's total.

So how do you find the cd you want to play or the dvd you want to watch if they are not in order?

Ooh, ooh, I can answer that one.

My music and books aren't in any order but I just remember where I put them the last time. They don't have to go in the same place but if I want a particular book or CD I know exactly where it is and in which bookcase.

Now that might sound simple but most of my walls in every room bar the kitchen are covered in bookcases and I have hundreds and hundreds of books.
One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.

I used put CDs in a weird order only I got to do with my moods. Now we have a much bigger collection, DH just has a search function on his MPs player :D and we're still debating how to sort CDs and books. Usually I 'just know'. ( though I do like a shelf that makes sense to me)

Edit, I have a fair few foibles, but I try not to pander to them too much, I genuinely believe it will make me unhappier long term and inflexibility in habit is a poor way to live. That doesn't mean I don't have them, oh my good ness I do (though some of these have had me giggling, sorry) just that I try and remember I share my home with those who don't and my life might not be able to accommodate these 'foibles' or aversions in the future, so best to resist them where possible now really. E.g I am misophonic, but I refuse to pander to it and find myself unable to socialise normally so I have developed a series of coping strategies which work for me, pretty darn well.

Ooh I've thought of more things..
I can't eat anything burnt. I have to scrape/pick it off before I eat it or it makes me gag..
If I'm at home and having a drink, I have to sniff the cup/glass to make sure there's no remnants of washing up liquid in it..
I have certain lucky items of clothing. I possess a black vest top that I wore to the rugby for two seasons (although it would be washed after every game and dried ready for the next) and we had two really good seasons. Ditto with a pair of socks I had, but then they got a hole in them so I stopped wearing them as they let the luck out :D

hehe I keep thinking of more.

When eating i put a piece of each food on my fork and am constantly checking and adjusting that i can do this right to the end of the meal. I watched my FIL at the weekend eat all his greens, then all his potatoes and then all his chicken....what the hell?

I always put the left thing on first - left leg into knickers, trousers, left sock on first, left shoe on first.

My everyday knives forks and spoons go into a bucket on the work surface as we only have 1 drawer in our whole kitchen - i'm sure some of you would die if you saw my kitchen :rotfl: So the knives have to go handle side up(for safety) and the rest go handle side down(so you can see what they are). My OH just bungs them in any old how and it gets on my wick.

I hate having dry hands and have to carry hand cream with me at all times.

I envy your memory! If all my stuff was not in some sort of order I would never find anything.

I have about 1,000 cd's and about 500 dvd's and if they were not in alphabetical order I would spend ages trying to find one and then just lose my temper

  • I love this thread - I don't feel quite so odd now!I certainly have my share of 'foibles'.

I'm quite particular about how washing is pegged out/put on airers (tops pegged from the bottom, bottoms pegged at the top or on an airer the front of a garment must always face up) -if it's done differently then I have to re-do it or it really stresses me out.

I also have a set way for things to be put away in the kitchen - some things nest together and must be nested (my partner has a tendency to just put things in a free spot instead of nesting them properly). Even things that don't nest together have a 'proper' place and it grates me if things aren't in their spot, I'll even move things and put them in their right place before taking them out to use (that's going a bit far I know, but I feel better using something if it's come out of it's proper place).

Washing up has to be done in a particular order. Everything must be rinsed so the worst muck is off before it goes in the soapy water, then glasses, mugs, plates, bowls, pots/pans and cutlery is the correct order, and things need to be rinsed after being washed to take the bubbles off). Also, the water should be properly hot. If it's done another way then I have to re-wash things before I'll use/eat off it.

I'm also quite particular about the way a lot of food is prepared - there is a 'right' size/way for things to be cut up for example. And a correct implement for every job (different spoons depending on what you're stirring/serving and a different knife depending on what you are cutting etc).

Also, I like odd numbers of things (particularly 3,5 or 7) and having even numbers of something makes me feel a bit unsettled (particularly 4, I hate having 4 of anything and if there is 4 of something they can't be lined up next to each other but should be a 1 and a 3 or 4x1). I really don't understand how some people like even numbers.

That's just some of mine...reading it back I realise I sound a bit like a crazy person, and there's more I can't quite bring myself to share lol
Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!

This is me...I am too lazy for foibles! I hoard!

The only room in any order is that of my 19yr old son. He has a bit OCD. All his DVDs games etc are in alphabetical order.

My OH is a bit like me...and that annoys me! One of his foibles is that he cannot put anything away. He takes everything to 'almost' where it should go then leaves it. The mop and bucket will sit at the garage door! The hoover will sit at the door to the cupboard under the stair! I have a laundry bin at the top of the stair, he appears to be unable to lift the top. His things either get put on top or beside the bin! He does not put empty shampoo, deoerant, toilet rolls, shower gel bottles in the bin! They are just left!

I like to run the edge of a cold pillow case along my cuticle. If I'm sleeping on my front I rub the tops of my feet on the bed sheet.
Washing must be hung equally. In fact, everything needs to be equal.
I touch the tip of my nose when I'm nervous (absolutely no idea why but I can't stop myself)
I run my tongue along the back of my bottom teeth when I'm daydreaming.

Theres probably plenty more, all of which I get ridiculed for!
