has anyone took up one of these offers? there are loads around with free Xbox's, PSP's iPod's etc and i was just wondering how you would rate them?

There's no such thing as a free gift.

You'll pay for it one way or another, or your retailer will swallow even more commission from the operators.

I would never get those kinds of contracts. Say you pay £30 a month for that phone for 18 months, that would = £450. A 'free gift' would be around £200-250, leaving you paying £200 for the phone itself. There are many offers elsewhere w/out free gift and costing you less than £200 after cashback. If you really want the free gift, buy it online separately! Don't forget quidco/TCB for extra cash :)

Btw, what phone are you looking to buy?

thats what i figured - and i dont have my eye on any phone n particular, but i currently pay about £30 a month anyways, and have no plans to end my current contract unless i can be tempted away - ie in the case of getting an ipod or PSP.

There was a website that offers *free gifts* when you buy a mobile phone on contract, in particular after one of them car navigation things.

    Thanks

    Hello.

I'm signing up for a new mobile contract now, but am having some trouble figuring which one of the free gift options is likely to yield the most value.

The contract will cost me £420 for the year.

I'll receive around £35 through independent cashback.

I'll be getting a Nokia 2600 free with the contract, which I intend to sell right away, and for which I can probably get around £40 off Amazon or eBay.

I have the option of £365 cashback, but the first cheque would only be due after month 6.

The other options I have are either a Microsoft xBox 360, Apple iPod Video 30GB White, Sony PSP Base Pack or Apple iPod Nano 2GB.

I've been looking around both Amazon and eBay, but I'm not really into games consoles that much so am not sure how much value the different makes and models hold.

If someone could lend some suggestions I'd be grateful.

    Cheers and take care.

    Hussein.

12 months free deals are undoubtedly the best ones. You do have to claim them back in stages but then you can do whatever you want with the money so your not stuck with a console you don't really want.
