I notice that the OP has suddenly gone very quiet. Maybe she is thinking up another reason why she won't provide the information from her iPhone's data counter. I don't think the OP is giving us the whole story.

    Here's a possibility...
iPhone won't turn on because the battery is dead, even though the battery is regularly charged up.
Rather than plugging it in and leaving it charging for a while, declare the phone "faulty".
If the phone was charged up, the reason why the battery drain is so high would be quite obvious by looking at the apps currently in use, how many apps are using location services, what is set to syncronise with iCloud and how updates (app & OS) are downloaded.
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?
  • I think the OP is trolling as it seems like she does not want to answer the question about her data usage having been asked a dozen or so times by other posters!

Can I suggest to the OP if you are really unhappy with this bill, go to Watchdog on the BBC!

This doesn't add up. If you're connected via wifi, then the wifi network and the mobile connection behind it wouldn't be able to access any details of the SIM card in your phone. Without your mobile number or SIM card data, how could they bill your home network for your usage?

It certainly adds up. The resort I stayed in had my payment details. I used their WiFi network which was connected not via ADSL but by mobile - a tariff was displayed but was in shekels even if I could have understood the characters shown. My mobile network didn't charge me, the resort did.

I understand the same situation exists on cruise ships where connectivity is provided at sea in 2 ways. Using your SIM and paying for calls and texts at vastly inflated rates on your mobile bill. Or opting for WiFi in the belief it will be cheaper when it ultimately uses an Inmarsat connection and is billed to your on board account.

No mystery - except that most phones wait for wifi before doing heavy data transfers.

What has using hotel wifi got to do with mobile phone bills? It's totally different, and something for the travel forum. Lots of hotels surcharge for wifi and don't include it in the price of the room. In any case, you must have consented to paying the wifi surcharges because otherwise the hotel would have had no way of attributing your MAC address to you. This is really off-topic, so I won't continue.
  • Orange network initially refused roaming on mobile as it was a new contract - 2 years later whilst abroad - surprisingly it is now on.

A pre paid phone card was purchased and rang from the mobile - and have been charged for a connection

Code of Practice states NO excessive roaming fees - what can i do

    thanks

Of course you would have been charged. Most of these prepaid phone cards have an 0800 number (or similar) to phone initially. On a normal landline phone that would have been free but on your mobile it isn't just the same as it wouldn't be free on most UK networks.

Not a lot other than plead with them to show some goodwill. You made the connection and you owe the money.
  • Hello again,

Had many long days at work. Between times, Orange have offered me a credit of £27k. This leaves me with just under £3,000 to pay. I have contacted them about a repayment plan.

However, they said that if I should dispute the bill then the bill remains at the £30,777. Bribery or what?

Having talked to EE, which includes Orange, they say that they were billed by the Canadian network involved which was At & T. I emailed AT & T three times and after their three replies, they eventually said it is Orange's responsibility. A no win situation here.

    I am stuck here.

Still have not got the data counter since the phone is not here but am pursuing it.
  • I am known as an OP. I am also known as a troll.

Could someone explain both to me please.

Where is the phone then? Why aren't you telling us the full story?
