OP why are you so reluctant to reveal how much data you have used, instead of repeatedly asking 'is it theoretically possible....?'No free lunch, and no free laptop

It certainly seems strange that they won't do this, but even stranger to me is that they seem more concerned with the itemisation of 99,999,940 bytes rather than disputing the possible £30k+ bill that could result from it!0 -

I would die if I got a mobile bill for £30k!!!!!!
The bytes would be the least of my worries if I were in the OPs position.........
Could get very nasty if the provider decides to take him to court for it.0 -
Wow the OP seems to be caught in some sort of temporal rift.
Yes as was stated in post number 3, it is conceivable that data could be used even if you weren't using facebook, itunes, youtube, uploading photos and such like. Your phone could have been trying to carry out updates or such like.
Please feel free to ask the question again however.
Smells like a troll to me, asking the same question over and over whereas normally people are livid/fuming/at wits end etc when faced with a massive bill like this.

Possibly, but she seems to be concentrating on the biggest anomaly in the bill, not the smaller amounts, even if she's gone over her roaming package. Seems a reasonable approach to me. As for the phone trying to do updates: at a 100mb a time I'd very much hope they were successful (!) and it seems like a rather glib answer or excuse to me.
As for knowing what data I've used, I wouldn't have a clue how to find it myself on this phone, although I don't do data roaming so can check up-to-date figures online . Either way, I've never been near my limit on my Giff Gaff £7.50 monthly packet..0 -
It has been explained to the OP several times how to check the data usage on the phone from the logs.No free lunch, and no free laptop

OP your questions keep getting answered. YES it is possible to use over 500MB in a day. You probably didn't use it in 1 minute as detailed by Mije1983 in post 22. If you cant or wont prove it otherwise by following the additional advice given people on this forum cant help you anymore.0

What type of phone were you using?0

This doesn't add up. If you're connected via wifi, then the wifi network and the mobile connection behind it wouldn't be able to access any details of the SIM card in your phone. Without your mobile number or SIM card data, how could they bill your home network for your usage? The reason why I got caught out, was because I went to a location where a WiFi repeater of a cellphone provider seamlessly provided connectivity. Suddenly, all the Apps pending updates seeing WiFi called 'home' and I got a bill of £490 when I realised what was happening (this was in Israel).0 -

Is it possible to use 572.20MB a day, let alone in a minute, if NOT watching a video, nor downloading songs, nor casually browsing the web, nor downloading 100's of photos to facebook or sending 100's of emails?
On one day at 14.21; 99,999,940 bytes of usage was detailed (= 95.3673MB) NOT just once but FIVE times. Totalling 476.84MB and costing £3814.69.
Has anyone any knowledge of how to investigate this?
Yes it is, if the apps are doing stuff int eh background ( which the facebook app does) as do other apps like tastecard, twitter and push email to name a few.0
