I thought so when I did the maths. It works out at 80p a MB. Others with lower bills that have posted here tend to get the advice to ring up the network and ask them to bill as if they had taken a bundle (normally NFH is the first) as it massively lowers the bill. It is the best advice that can be given a lot of the time. I also don't work for a network and kinda prefer the fact they don't lurk in these forums.

Thanks for everything and good to know you're not one of them. Thanks for telling us all. But they are lurking..... grim.

    I think you've overdone it a little :D
....Orange have offered me a credit of £27k. This leaves me with just under £3,000 to pay.
    £27K is 90%

500MB bundle - 90% saving on standard rates
In fact Orange did even better than just applying the bundle retrospectively. Even with this bundle the charge would have been £8/Mb for everything over 500Mb.

Out of interest, how many of you work for the mobile networks? If I were a mobile network I would want to follow all forums to see what people are saying.

I think I have identified two anyway, and this is due to their somewhat aggressive nature. What a way to earn a living.

    Any thoughts by anyone?
You mention 'we' in the last paragraph. So which branch of EE do you work for exactly?

I do not work for a telecoms provider.

I used "we" as in the sense of "civilisation" and "the laws of the land". A generic "us".

Well, you wanted it the same way as in UK.
For UK PAYG they quote it as 65p/Mb. I think even schoolchildren can easily compare 65p/Mb with £8/Mb and see the difference - and it's not that striking.

Careful ... you'll soon have people complaining that it's too difficult to understand the difference between pence per MB and pounds per MB.
