It appears the OP is not alone.

Also on Orange and also paying for a roaming data package.
Not quiteMichael Westwood was sent the bill from Orange after Daniel, 20, and Olivia, 18, returned from the holiday where they had made heavy use of their phones. The Travel Data Saver Daily 30MB bundles gave each number 30MB of data per day for £6 per day, the charge only being applied on the days when the customer connects to the internet.
'Both numbers were using significantly more data than 30MB per day, and were therefore charged at the standard £8 per MB for usage after this amount.'Customers receive warnings on landing about the cost of using data abroad and are encouraged to purchase bundles to manage their data costs
So the 2 'kids' at 18 & 20. Simply used their phones without thought0 -
No, you gave us only the apps that were visible within the same screen as the App Store. I explained this above and you need to scroll down and see the data used by all the other apps. You need to give us the data used by all apps. There will be another large one, because the figures don't currently add up.
I now have the details of the Apps. It says 'use mobile data for' and lists 32 apps installed on her phone. The only new app installed whilst in Canada was Orange's Roaming Angel (13.9KB). In total they add up to 4.576GB. Lets then add in the system services of 267 MB and, using a 'bit' calculator, it adds up to 4.729GB, which is what the current period of mobile data usage says (to one decimal point, re-post 185).
So all correct & a very nice & tidy round sum - if of course she had all the apps running together just the once, which does not equate with the itemised bill.
I have also discovered that the date of last Reset of Statistics was 8 October 2013.
Does this information make any more sense? Thanks.0 -
Have you discovered which app is the particular culprit for using such an excessive amount of data?lulubelle41 wrote: »I now have the details of the Apps. How do I find that information out?0

You've already added up the amount that each app has used. Which apps used the most data?lulubelle41 wrote: »How do I find that information out?0 -
Ah, I see. App Store = 556. Skype = 336. Twitter = 927. What's App = 514. Twitter would seem the most.0

For Twitter and WhatsApp to have used that much, she must have been sending or receiving a lot of photos. As I said previously, I'm puzzled as to why it was so urgent for her to update apps via mobile data instead of waiting until she had wifi. Even Skype is high, which suggests video calls rather than voice calls.0

I agree with you. When you suggest that she 'updated' the apps, is that the same as 'using' the apps?
Also, presumably these apps have been running up data usage since the reset on 8 October whilst she was in the UK. How on earth do I know what was used between 19 and 30 of November whilst in Canada?0 -
The data usage by the "App Store" app will be primarily updating other apps to new versions (not the data used by those apps while running), with just a small amount of installing new apps (given that she only has 32 apps in total).lulubelle41 wrote: »I agree with you. You could make a reasonable assumption that the usage is proportionate to the dates. Given that she took no steps to keep within the 30MB/day, you could also assume that her non-UK usage was similar to her UK usage. In other words, just divide the total usage by the number of days to see how much she used per day.lulubelle41 wrote: »Also, presumably these apps have been running up data usage since the reset on 8 October whilst she was in the UK. The previous months data usage was 0.4GB (between billing dates of 10 Oct to 10 Nov). This equals 13.65MB a day in the UK.
Given that she was in the UK until 19 November this would equal 39 days = 532.35MB.
Therefore, between 19 November and 30 November she used approx 4.2GB = 4300MB. This would mean that over the 11 days she used an average of 390.9MB a day.
So the UK and non-UK usage couldn't be more different. A daily increase of 2863%?0
