Orange-horror itemised phone bill from Canada

One would assume that in the case of a disputed bill for £30K, someone at Orange would be capable of writing a letter with the correct legal safeguards...No free lunch, and no free laptop

The offer has already been made, albeit orally. An oral offer can also be made "without prejudice", but my guess is that it was most probably not.One would assume that in the case of a disputed bill for £30K, someone at Orange would be capable of writing a letter with the correct legal safeguards...0 -
The 'alleged troll' here. None of you forum experts are my victims - I am totally convinced that I am a victim of Orange.
Have a screen shot of the data counter but don't know how to post it but it says:
Call time:
Current period - 19 hours 20 minutes
Lifetime - 19 hours 20 minutes
Mobile data usage:
Current period 4.7GB
Current period roaming - 3.9GB
Apparently there no dates only hours and minutes as noted above. This phone was cut off 30 December 2013. Iphone 4s.
Regarding the offer from Orange, there was no 'offer'. It was take it or leave it. I asked them to put it in writing and the answer was 'no'. They told me that when I received a bill, with the credit/refund shown, then this was as good as.
I received the bill two days ago and £27,791.62 has been credited to my account. And that's without a fight. For them to put it all in writing adding 'without prejudice' would have been a whole new ball game.
My daughter text Orange six times in those 11 days, remembering of course that she was cut off for at least a day and half during this time. I asked Orange if they could throw some light as the context of these texts and the replies she received from Orange. The answer was 'no'.
Having contacted AT&T, they said that Orange had all the required details of usage and how. When I asked Orange about this they said it was AT&T who billed Orange so should supply all the details. On further contact with AT&T they said they could do nothing since I didn't have an account with them.
I am now on a repayment plan with Orange which I believe will take me longer to pay off than they realise. There is no end date. Meantime they have put me on a mobile plan which suspends all my monthly contract fees. i.e. no monthly fees to pay.
The whole thing stinks.
Hope my grammar is up to par.....0 -

Well the phone says you sued 3.9Gb of data whilst roaming - ie in Canada.
3.9gb is 3993.6mb and at £8 per mb that would be a bill of £31,948.80. Your phone's data counter therefore confirms that Orange have billed your correctly for the data use in Canada.Regarding the offer from Orange, there was no 'offer'. It was take it or leave it. Pretty good of them really as you did run up this bill. The whole thing stinks.
Far from it really.
The problem is that the data was used and you (or your daughter) were not careful to turn off data roaming in Canada.
The fault is all yours.0 -

Your grammar is correct.

Your interpretation of grammar is not correct.
I guess you mean "you are" or "you're"0 -

So how does the 19 hours 20 minutes feature in all of this do you think?0 -
The 4.7GB and the 3.9GB could have been accumulated since inception of the phone surely?0
-
Well, the first obvious questions are:
When was the phone bought?
How many times was it taken abroad?
Have you ever done hard reset? If not, does 19h 20m figure match the accumulated figure from all previous bills?0 -

That's the total number of hours of call time.lulubelle41 wrote: »The 4.7GB and the 3.9GB could have been accumulated since inception of the phone surely?
Unless you have reset it, then it would be since you had the phone which is not the same as inception of the phone.
So since you have had this phone, you have used up 3.9gb of data when roaming.
What other countries have you been roaming in and how often?0 -
I will have to check all that you suggest .
i.e. when was the phone purchased?
But I do know that the phone has not been deliberately/accidentally re-set.
Having seen previous bills, the data usage information does not correspond with these.
My personal knowledge of iphones is sub adequate.0
