  • Evening everyone

Well I have been AWOL for a few months now.

I was starting to work on a new list and working out a better way to get things done, when my beautiful daddy passed away suddenly, aged 62, so the last 7 weeks have just been about doing the bare minimum really. Thankfully I have hubby and my 18 month old baby boy to keep me going, which also means I haven't given up completely on everything.

However I need to sit down and re look at what I want to get done and work on new lists

So I am hoping to be back either before xmas, or just after.

    Hope everyones well

    EvertheOptimist,

So sorry to hear about your lovely dad passing. It is always difficult when a loved one passes away. You have to hold on to all the beautiful memories you had together. He will always be with you and your family. xx

Hugs for EvertheOptimist. Glad you have your little family to focus upon.

    Wow Mavvymoo go you.

I have nearly completed the Christmas stocking (biggest job) so just lots of making up to do over the weekend. Thankfully have located my sewing thread box in the sideboard downstairs. Thought it might be in the pile of bags and boxes still in the vestibule at the old house (DS3 was supposed to ferry them over here whilst I was in hospital - I even bought him a weekly bus ticket and hardly any distance to walk at either end).

Unfortunately the cough medicine must still be there - the bug DS3 gave me has moved from my chest to my throat, so obvious when I try to speak. Still trying to rest and let the symptoms work their way out as don't really want to go to the doctor's. Even phoned mum's to ask if one of the Friday visitors could take me to collect stuff in their car (DS3 hasn't been to bring the bins back in) but one twin was taking her children to a party and the other had the mortgage man visiting so will just plod on.

Have gargled (well tried - I am world's worst gargler) with bicarb, had a slimmer's soup in a cup (don't drink tea or coffee and cordial etc is now off limits due to my diabetes) and have taken one of the bars of white chocolate I bought for DS3.

Managed to put lights, baubles and tinsel on one of the garden obelisks (they are tall thin triangular willow pyramids) today - I usually use one in the dining room at Christmas but am having one downstairs and one upstairs in here this year as tackling a tree is totally beyond me given the limitations on movement. Alternated sitting and standing and filled the bottom (not allowed to bend down or lean forward) by draping tinsel over any gaps and tucking the ends where I could reach.

It normally sits on a small round coffee table but DS3 and a friend were using it to play card games - at least it meant I could sweep the rubbish out of that corner as I couldn't move the table myself and his friend plugged all the lights in for me - I can reach the switch to turn them on and off. Also spent some time tackling the ivy. DS2 has let it get overgrown, the edges have green leaves but there is lots of dead wood in the middle - I have done lots of 5 - 15 minutes of snipping over the past two weeks so that bin will be full when it goes out on Tuesday. Normally I would use the ivy to decorate the house but am keeping it simple this year - as long as I have lights and candles, that's enough. I have made an effort (and candlelight hides all the bits I can't do anything about).

Resting and sewing for the weekend and possibly a little cooking - DS3 has filled several 2l bottles with water and put them by the stove so I can make onion soup and maybe turkey stew at the weekend.

My new list from Sunday to Saturday -
    1) Calculate last months expenditure and January - end November 2014 expenditure. Consider course of action for December in view of this.
    2) Another ebay bid to check/bid for?
    3) Challenges for December 2014 and next year?
    4) Food related that involves using up or freezing perishables and better dietary management. Try to reduce sweeteners or have more unsweetened beverages etc.
    5) Back garden jobs - repair compost bin, continue with sorting out the forget-me-nots and start to fill the council compost bin with anything unwanted.
    6) Keep decluttering miscellaneous items.

    Hi everybody,

    1) Did my monthly and yearly food grocery calculations. Decembers food grocery expenditure will be affected by Christmas and weather conditions. However, it will be mainly ordering UHT milk and anything to enable me to use up what I have, or to improve health.
    2) The ebay bid was not done. Item went similar to newly purchased price.
    3) Will continue with this weekly list challenge to the end of the year and maybe 2015. Also, this month, to keep with the losing weight challenge focussing on eating "healthily" and exercise. 2015 challenges generally to be considered later this month/early January 2105.
    4) Food related tasks were done with about the same progress. Sweetener consumption was about the same each day and in my opinion still too high. Unsweetened beverages tried at times.
    5) The compost bin was repaired. Also, woody prunings now make up 75% of the council compost bin. Continued sorting out the forget me nots but after checking (greenfingered forum), decided to leave them until next spring.
    6) The decluttering kept me busy but better described as housework or gardening perhaps? Daily tasks were separating rubbish from recyclables and composting.

Anyway, will tidy up today and will complete my new list.
