Great results everyone well done :)

My cousin came over from Oz for a surprise visit. We grew up like sisters as there is only 3 weeks age difference between us.I haven't seen her for 22 years  But it was like we had never been apart and had seen each other every week :) Such a lovely time was had by all.I really miss her now she is thousands of miles away again :(
But she is back August next year and the following year I am going out to see her.It gives me time to save :)
So let me update and do my list
Table and chairs situation is as it had been on my list to paint for about 2 months :rotfl:And I hated it anyway miles to big for us has gone :) And a new smaller one has been purchased second hand which I love :D Bad news is it needs painting :rotfl:
But paint has been ordered (will be here Tuesday hopefully) And I will start it this week I promise !

    So here goes
    1, Gym 4/4
2.PAINT TABLE AND 4 CHAIRS AND RECOVER SEATS :)Done and finished
    3, hoover whole house-done
    4,steam clean floors
    5,clean out chooks-done
    6,clean kitchen
    7,clean bathroom-half done
8, start sorting spare room (mainly my clothes etc) 5 solid hours later its done
9, ironing as now cant fit it all in the massive cupboard it is housed in - Done !!!!!
10,keep up with washing as have let it slide due to the ironing situation (see above) - done
I really love this challenge as you really want to plod though the list even if it looks out of reach (as mine does this week)

    Good luck to all

  • mavvymoo will the ironing break down into smaller chunks - commit to 1/2 an hour a day? Or 10 items then stop (needs to be more than your family use in a day, or you will never catch up). Try listening to radio or put on your favourite album to make the time pass (dancing round the kitchen is good aerobic exercise). Or go through and pull out anything that doesn't need doing - may be too late if stuff has been crushed in a pile for a while.

At the risk of you thinking I am a !!!!!!, I hardly do any ironing. When the boys were small I found that most things hung up on the line to dry could be safely hung up in wardrobes or (t-shirts and underwear, rolled or folded and put away in a drawer). When they got to be teenagers and wanted 'going out' shirts, I taught them to to iron their own. Even 'superwoman' Shirley Conran - ex-wife of Terrance and co-founder of Shabitat advocated only ironing the front and cuffs of shirts if person was wearing a suit all day.I have pressed suit trousers and jackets when required.

Ironing towels decreases their effectiveness - the thicker the pile, the better it works, ironing stops this by flattening the pile and it the towel is slightly abrasive, tell yourself you are saving a fortune on all those expensive exfolliant creams (and multi-tasking).

My mother hates ironing but spent years playing the martyr and ironing absolutely everything including underpants (I think women who iron underpants should be taken out and shot - if anyone but you is seeing your husband's underpants he should be taken out and shot). It has taken me years to break her down to doing only what is necessary.

Remember you are saving energy - your own and the planet's resources and improving your mental health - another Superwoman quote "When your children are grown up, they won't remember that they always had ironed pyjamas, they will remember if you had time for them".

Sorry, only meant to give a hint, not a rant.

My list from Sunday until Saturday :-

    1) Sunday tidy up went well but planning for the week not quite decided.
    2) Monday - Had an appointment taking a total of three hours (included the walk there and back plus some groceries acquired needing sorting) so list delayed. Decided upon: -

    3) Check computer bookmarks and delete any if not needed.
    4) Check and update a post on another health forum.
    5) Food related - manage diet best as possible, continue to use up/sort out perishables and consider again the (mainly) UHT milk order.
    6) Garden related - sort out garden nettles, read about container potatoes, rose bush and indoor tomato plant care. Weeding to prevent the local cat hiding opposite the garden bird area.

Thanks for the recent posts; seems like lots of tasks are being tackled/completed.

Mothernerd This post made me :rotfl: I love Shirley Conran and have always loved her quote 'Lifes too short to stuff a mushroom' And have often used it !
I agree about ironing underpants and another one is tea towels ! Who honestly would.
Will break the ironing up into chunks of most likely easy stuff and moving on to harder items as at least it makes me feel better as you can see the pile going down.
So thank you for the laugh and when I am plodding though it (at some point in the future ) I will dance round the kitchen and maybe put cloths on my feet and clean the floor at the same time :D

Take care all and enjoy the rest of your week

Slightly Random List for the Week to Sunday September 28th

1 Basic self-care (feeling frazzled). Rest, eat, breathe.

2 Phone Day, can make and receive calls (not had a mobile for over 4 years, so lots to re-learn), have read through the instructions, need to go through a couple more times to understand properly and find things

3 Cooking Day Nothing complicated but carrot cake, carrot salad, beetroot salad, coleslaw, rice salad and potato salad would use up the fresh veg and supplement/ spice up the week. Also have bacon (soup/ quiches).

4 Craft Day. Need to get back in touch with my creative side and do more restful soothing activities

5 DIY Lots of little jobs still to do, using materials we have. Do at least three

6 Tool sort - mostly gathered. Sort it (sitting down job again).

7 Reclaim my space - tidy and clean, one bit at a time.

Tasks will not necessarily take a day and may be spread over several days. The aim is to get things done but at a slower pace and giving my body some 'down time'

    1 Tried to rest

2 Getting the hang of the phone but not confident yet

3 Veg are peeled and in the fridge

4 Finished off some small embroidered pieces

5 Started several large pieces of decorating .. Hope to have my bedroom, attic stairs and the hallway done by Sunday (still trying to resist re-doing all the paintwork in the hallway. Several small diy tasks DONE

    6 Tool sort -
Just spent 2+ hours sorting tools, drill bits, screws and miscellaneous items (had already done some earlier) and now ache all over. Every time I thought I was done I found yet another small cache. may need a final sort through but DONE DONE DONE - I even have a space to put it in.

    7 Getting there.

    3) Just 11 bookmarks deleted from a very long list.
    4) Did the post on the particular forum.
    5) Always a lot of effort but want to do better. The grocery sorting was very time consuming which always tends to happen but nothing wasted. Online order completed.
    6) All the garden tasks were completed although the cat did easily choose to sit "hiding" elsewhere!

My list from last Sunday until the end of Saturday:-

    1) Tidy up day and planning the weeks list.
    2) I have been thinking how some things never get put away or dealt with so will tackle a "101 odd jobs" in my home environment. Might not quite do that number though...
