From yesterday until the end of Saturday -

    1) Tidy up day, update menu ideas based on existing food in the house and planning for the weeks tasks.
    2) Front of the house tidy up as the wall base has clumps of weeds growing out. Keep doing gardening tasks for the losing weight challenge.
    3) Think of and do any (moneysaving) tasks that feel most satisfying. Hopefully to improve wellbeing and assist the above challenge.

That's it folks and thanks for your recent posts!

    Thanks for the recent posts.

    1) Done.
    2) Front of house (i.e. stonewall) looking much better now as weed free. Lots of gardening tasks were done; the idea being to focus on achieving things to assist better all round health.
    3) Things such as :-
    a) creating homemade compost for next year.
    b) regrowing bits of veg on a window sill.
    c) making the garden more spacious (pavements cleared, lawn borders straightened and hedges pruned).
    d) those money saving sedentary and time consuming jobs that can be done if tired/unwell whilst watching something interesting.
    e) Simple "mock" food recipes.
    f) Completing little elusive jobs that have been left for ages.

    New list to follow soon.

You did okay yourself. Similarly, my lists often have a certain theme (food and health).

    1) Done.
    2) Didn't do the grocery order as managed to stock up in store for the milk. Fruit perishables mainly used up; some apples now as puree in the ice tray for an apple bread recipe and juice from "old" oranges refrigerated.
    3) Eating raw was difficult but good to try as it drew attention to my daily eating - healthy or not? Also, in terms of money saving it raised several issues. Really is more of a long term nutritional/money saving approach to research/plan towards.
Lastly, contacted a health forum about the health appointment and one reply so far.
    4) Garden tasks completed.
    5) Cleaned the bathroom.
    6) Odd jobs - mainly involving things left on the floor/garden (e.g. filing, rubbish and recycling to bins, plantlets transplanted and previously made up garden fertiliser applied).

Will plan and tidy up today and figure out a new list. Hope everybody is doing okay!

Job List for Week to Sunday September 21st.

1 CLEAN FRIDGE It was turned off for most of one day and parts of two others and now smells as though something has died in there (have never seen hard boiled eggs with blue fuzzy mould on the outside before). Bought more bi-carb. DONE:j

2 GLOSS PAINTING ON THE STAIRS AND SIDE PANELING IN THE HALL Carpet is being fitted in hall. stairs and landing on Thursday so need any essential bits (I am not re-doing all the spindles) need to be done by early Wednesday (to allow for drying). DONE:T

3 CLEAR AND CLEAN Hallway and landing - mostly just bits of spare laminate (hoping to use these inside fitted wardrobes and under attic stairs - don't need to be cut precisely). DONE:j

4 MAKE NOTES FROM ARTHRITIS BOOKS (Follows on from below but needs to be done first). DONE:T

5 TUESDAY OLD HOUSE WHILE MR AND MRS BUILDER ASSESS THE BOILER DONE unfortunately it has gone to boiler heaven and a replacement is required.:(
Take library books to return (pick new ones) DONE:j
Buy any fresh veg but keep an eye on plain yoghurt - see 1DONE:j
Buy neutral paint for any remaining areas (have some bits to use up) Done.:T
Tackle yard shrubs/ weeds (sitting where possible) DONE AN HOUR+:T

6 GREEN WASTE BACK TO THIS HOUSE FOR GREEN BIN (If possible - bus hop or see if mr builder can drop it off on his way home). DONE PLUS rummaged through his bins, sorted all the bottles and can into brown bin and left for binmen (tomorrow). This made space for 1 bin bag and three smaller rubbish bags which were in the house and yes it was every bit as disgusting as it sounds (especially 3 bottles with 'gone off' milk).:A

    7 THURSDAY - CARPET MAN DONE :) AND DS1 (DS1 jobs)
Paint gutters above vestibule and bay window
Clean (frames and glass) vestibule and bay window, inside and out DONE :)
    If time permits:-
Stones DONE :)and Broken slabs (need some moved to the front of the house)
Door handle on bathroom door) Can probably do these myself
Grout in corner of kitchen )

    8 FRIDAY - MUM'S
Ask for special grouting pen (she mentioned it on the phone) See below
Flowers/ card for R (took us out last Friday - mum's birthday treat)

9 RUBBISH mr and mrs builder will collect larger rubbish items from front of house after carpet man has been

10 PAPER PURGE Coming to the end of several notebooks + my things are once again in boxes (some still in DS3's room). Did not have any sitting down, sorting time last week.ONGOING but everything out of DS3's room

11 TOOL SORT Tools have been borrowed/ used in various parts of the house - time to sort back into appropriate containers (rusty screws to recycle bin). Started, several scrapers, scissors and others cleaned.

12 PHONE Learn a few new bits on my phone (list numbers/ get in and out of messages etc - again not much sit in a corner quietly time). Getting there

13 WIPE/DO/RE-LIST remaining jobs room by room (wipe as I go - use and wash rags, washing machine currently 1/2 full).LIST DONE

14 JOBS I CAN DO (This Week?)
Stain stop in my room (mostly where bits have fallen/ been trapped behind the bed) DONE:j
Paint blue wall in my room (have leftover paint - try DS3 for bits above picture rail where attic hand rail fell, making an arc on the wall)
Paint radiators in tiny bedroom (single bed can go back, storage drawers so more places to hide things + bed can be made up so space in wardrobe) and bathroom (before the carpet man puts the new vinyl down?) DONE:j

Gosh I feel tired already. A cooking day would be nice - a sort of re-claiming my space ritual.

    Well most things got done.

Additionally met the boiler man at the old house to get a quote and DS3 went out for the day on Saturday so spent several hours in his room, all pillows and quilts (including spares for visiting friends) have appropriate coverings, clothes moved and books/ games/ cds/ models are neatly on shelves inside the wardrobes (accessible but can be hidden when people come to view the house).

Had a stressful week. Mum had an out-patient appointment on Tuesday and the doctor wanted to admit her for treatment on Wednesday or Thursday. Spent the week dealing with boiler man, carpet fitters etc and then spending time at mum's waiting for the phone call. She was finally admitted yesterday.

However the treatment is already working and several problems she has had for a while (swallowing, eating, speaking, holding her neck up) which were getting worse will be sorted. her nerves were not transmitting enough messages to make the bits of her body work. She will have to take medication (once the correct dosage is established) but should recover fully (our GP thought it was min- strokes and there was no cure).

Slightly Random List for the Week to Sunday September 28th

1 Basic self-care (feeling frazzled). Rest, eat, breathe.

2 Phone Day, can make and receive calls (not had a mobile for over 4 years, so lots to re-learn), have read through the instructions, need to go through a couple more times to understand properly and find things

3 Cooking Day Nothing complicated but carrot cake, carrot salad, beetroot salad, coleslaw, rice salad and potato salad would use up the fresh veg and supplement/ spice up the week. Also have bacon (soup/ quiches).

4 Craft Day. Need to get back in touch with my creative side and do more restful soothing activities

5 DIY Lots of little jobs still to do, using materials we have. Do at least three

6 Tool sort - mostly gathered. Sort it (sitting down job again).

7 Reclaim my space - tidy and clean, one bit at a time.

Tasks will not necessarily take a day and may be spread over several days. The aim is to get things done but at a slower pace and giving my body some 'down time'
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.
