From last Sunday until the end of Saturday:-

    1) Sunday - tidy up day and planning (done as much as possible).
    2) Rest of the week :-
    a) try not to create such a "mess" in the house particularly the kitchen. So will try and keep meals simple and use up ready made meals/ingredients needing little preparation. Also, consider this if new purchases are made.
    b) Autumn theme - forage local edible foods available this time of year and consider potential for frost in relation to the garden edibles.
    c) Paperwork sorting as usual!

Hi, today is the last day before new tasks will be decided.

2a) At times not as messy but the kitchen seems more inconsistent in this area probably largely due to money saving (everyday meal preparing and clearing up afterwards, creative projects in progress and outdoor hobbies whereby things have to be then brought into the kitchen). Keeping meals simple and using up existing food "stocks" has helped and only a few purchases made with just flour causing most work.
2b) Local edible food collected (mainly fruit, herbal greens and a few nuts). Frost not here yet but all the potatoes and seeds are planted/sowed and also have collected leafy salad greens almost daily from the garden.
2c) Less miscellaneous paperwork sorting done this week but daily routine makes this difficult.

Anyway, will see what's still possible today for the above.
(With thanks for the recent posts!)

Just found an extra tree apple and some more paperwork done. Using up existing food "stocks" was approx. nine (excluding milk), of which some consisted of several items of the same. New list being worked upon.

Morning, with september approaching fast and the start of a new school year, I feel this would be a great time to join this thread and try and get organised before christmas!!! So if you will have me, I'd love to join in :)

With three kids on school holidays the house has become a completely disorganised mess, as I a) have less time to do jobs, b) more people creating mess ALL the time! and c) would rather have fun with the kids whilst they are still young enough to want to spend time with mummy! :j

School doesnt start til 8th september so the list will be small until they go back, but I really need to start getting some stuff done as the lack of organisation is driving me nuts now

    My list for the week...

new school shoes for DD and DS1
get straight with the washing (not been back from holiday long and there is still a backlog)
this of course means the ironing pile for 5 of us is HUGE!
make tomato and basil soup (lots of ripe tomatoes in the greenhouse)
make 'something' with 2 carrier bags full of plums I have been given! (Any ideas welcome ;) )

Think this will do for a first week
    mortgage £800 overpayment 2022. £600/£2400 2023 🙂 savings £1853/£1800 😊

well, tomatoes have been made into soup (which is rather tasty I have to say!!), house has had a very quick clean from top to bottom, (something I havent managed since before we went on holiday) and the conservatory aka the playroom has had a bit of a sort out. Feeling much better now! Its amazing what a difference a bit of hard work can make, especially as the kids managed to amuse themselves watching tv for a bit, something I havent let them do too much of while they have been off over the summer. They are playing in the garden now so the house might even stay tidy for a little longer. Time to tackle the washing and ironing...

Welcome lynneee. For plums I would suggest stewing a large pan full, then separating into 'crumble sized' portions - little plastic bags would take less freezer space but if you have room you could do some ready made in either your own dishes or bought/ reused foil containers. Also plum jam and plum chutney - OS board will have recipes.

List from now until Sunday 31st

1 Complete birdcage cover - not urgent but would like it out of the way - can be done in bed if I can't move tomorrow. DONE
2 Clear the bed - had done it but stuff has been creeping back. Still a work in progress
3 Mum's birthday card - needs embroidering (by 28th). DONE
4 Next batch of books/ cds/ dvds for sale. Done + extra small order 10 items)
5 Clean fridge (inside) and fronts of appliances and units. DONE
6 Sim card for mobile phone -mum now has 2 free phones for me. ORDERED
7 Possible other sales (+ freecycle) once I have a phone.
8 DS2's boiler - no hot water. On hold - builder was due but DS2 has a new job and may be moving out and he was extremely rude (and owes about 12 weeks rent).
    9 Varnishing Done
10 Continue internet research Continuing Learning all the time - running a thread challenge for September
11 Plant quick growing plants and flowers Sunflowers in
12 Cooking day - bean recipes, curry. Adding curried butter bean salad, leek and potato soup, chilli and tandoori lumps Chilli and soup in the freezer. Deleted some items as the ingredients have been used up.

Sorry -started this post a couple of hours ago but have spent more than an hour walking round the house with mr and mrs builder deciding which of the house jobs they will do and now my leg is absolute screaming agony (had already done a few bits in the garden etc and was just starting to rest.

Did intend to add another couple of jobs but will leave it for now (waiting for the painkillers to kick in). :j:j:j to the builders (only in my head).

Anyway this weeks list [I will edit if I think of more]

Sort paperwork, huge task - reorganise filing system then file or throw.[on-going]
Tidy dining room ready for bigger clean later in the week.[tidy done]
Family day out on Thursday - taking daughters friend [done]
Shop for kitchen tiles. [not done yet - very proud of myself!]

This is where I can come unstuck. I'm not a big spender - am very thrifty, however I do like to window shop so naturally am drawn to tile shopping and would do this first avoiding everything else 'til I've found some I like at the right price.
So I must not tile shop 'til most if not all other jobs done.[/QUOTE]

well paperwork is done. Im really pleased as it was a mammoth task and you name it, I can find it - now!
dining room didn't really get a proper clean so Im carrying that over to this week.
Didn't get to shop for tiles -but no urgency there as tiling can't be done for at least a couple of weeks.

    this weeks tasks
    meal plan
    take dad to see nurse
    Dining room deep clean
    emulsion paint 'cupboard room'
check all school uniform sorted - buy anything that's been forgotten
    catch up with ironing.
get DDs hair trimmed ready for back to school[poss mine too]
do prep ready for return to work next week.

That sounds like plenty - not feeling very energetic either so wish me luck! :)

Evening - may I join in? I love list making but need to be beholden to them.

    This weeks list:-

meal plan for next week - done
store cupboard check - use to meal plan for week beginning Monday 1st September - completed
    make 4 coasters - done
finish sorting out Christmas hampers - make list of necessary items.
Finish sewing end of nieces table runner
make up "Joy, peace, love " wall hanging.
clear lounge corner hot spot - completed - 24/8/14
source items for car boot sale next weekend.

Tidy front garden - 15 minutes each day

think that's enough for now - now I need to check back in and complete the tasks!

BTW - if you look on iplayer they did a lovely looking fruit roll toffee with plums - may be worth trying something different - especially if you have children - looked easy enough (famous last words!!)
