Music magpie box has been collected. A few things moved out of the dining room. Next batch of cds and dvds back in the cupboard for now (some on my bed - sneaked in DS3's room when he was in the bath but there are more in there somewhere, will also check DS2's shelves when I go on Friday and reclaim any that are mine - have sold some of his but he moved into the little house 2 and 1/2 years ago and hasn't taken them yet).
Some empty (flattened) plastic boxes and gift tags put in with the Christmas wrap (well, have to ask DS3 as it's above my head). Screws and tools all in one place (some in other rooms), plastic shelves moved into yard (will put them in the shed later, walked across the paving slabs in socks but need the wellies for the gravel). Need to measure attic boards when I am out there -half the junk in the shed was left by the previous owner and I want rid. Was going to do it yesterday but downpour started as I got to the back door. Measured the spare cupboard doors and found 2 that will cover the meter cupboard in the hall (previous owner had made a slide/ slot in thing that didn't. Two doors have been painted to go under the existing cupboard doors when the builder comes back to make a new plinth (old one yet again rotten with damp pre-dpc).
Made more space on the floor but had to put curtain material on table as couldn't manoeuver it into the cupboard (pounce on DS3 when he comes out for food).
Cut about half the lavender yesterday (will cut and tie into bunches for drying) and got DS3 to carry a paint can downstairs (a little bit needs touching up but I can't carry the paint).
Will go and shuffle the shed next time I get a surge of energy - think I will cull the small plant pots and offer at least half on freegle. Also told DS2 if he gets the job that means moving, my brother needs the good couch (other 2 are a simple basic shape but too low for us oldies). Advanced de-cluttering folks. DS3 and I will move back into little house if DS2 moves - it's easier to manage and keep clean and in the town centre so on good days I can hobble nearly anywhere (car park at back has town hall on opposite side and library on the left, shops on the right, library is followed by church then little Arseda - formerly Netto). Very good for the mobility challenged. then when this is sold I can take my time finding something to suit me and mum.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Hi, thanks, I have been following your interesting posts.
mavvymoo - thanks also for the encouragement. Yes, still "plodding"; this week through sorting out miscellaneous paperwork. Nothing to "tick off" as such due to the collective multitude of it. Nevertheless, it used to be the last thing to get around to doing. Glad you feel you are making some progress.0 -
Managed shed shuffling yesterday (not complete) and measured lots of things to be sold or given away (many left by previous owner).
Didn't sleep well and have developed lurgy so taking it easy today. Lavender was chopped, bunched and hung up at 5am (no point lying awake doing nothing - slept mid-morning). Put together some soup and other simple dishes but did all the chopping (onions, carrots, potatoes) sitting down.
May try to list some things on the local freecycle website but not attempting anything complicated due to sleep deprivation.
Keep plodding. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Might help to give yourself credit for the paperwork as you go along - I count it when I have a wastebasket of discarded stuff and I know others have ticked each drawer/ box as it is completed. Just to recognise what you have achieved rather than what is still to do.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0

I purchased a kit called Condensation2Clear from eBay that repaired my misted up windows. Was easy to do and worked a treat!0

mothernerd - thanks for your idea. I did think that one source (e.g. one file at a time) would make it clearer.
I've been jotting down what areas of paperwork have been sorted and also have bags with this now spare paper in. This will be used/discarded in several ways. Just to know bits are being tackled daily is good too.0 -
Evening everyone.
I have been MIA since April. I went back to work in May after a years maternity and it has been hectic. I have been staying on top of general housework, just about, but lots of other things being missed or left behind, partly as there are not enough hours in the day, partly because occasionally I want a lazy evening and also because little man is now 15 months old and forgoes his afternoon sleep so less time to get 'things' done.
I know when I was part of this challenge/ group before I worked really hard at getting things done, however I was at home most of the time.
So what I'm really trying to say is please can I come back.....
For this week w/c 18th aug
1) paint lounge, stairs and landing (with hubby)
2) food shop
3) sort out more of little mans clothes
4) Re seal the shower cubicle in en suite
5) Set weekly budget
6) Set monthly budget (and stick to it)
7) spend a couple of hours on work stuff one evening (I'm on leave but it needs doing before I return)
Am also looking to set up a weekly housework planner for when I return to work. So the same jobs are done on the same days each week and I can keep track.
Hope everyone's well
Sorry for the waffle.

Welcome EvertheOptimist.
Just lost a post. Lots of hot water yesterday so tackled washing up mountain, mopped bathroom and lower part of fitting twice and cleaned the bath and sink (holding on with one hand and scrubbing with the other).
Today has been managing the pain and sleeping (arthritis + lurgy + a couple of poor nights sleep). Making progress on most things on my list - a couple of people are looking for their old mobiles for me.
DS1 and mr and mrs builder are calling this week, so will have a clearer idea of what everyone can do. May write a formal list in next day or two, otherwise will keep plodding with current one.
Have a good week everyone. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -

I'd like to join please. I like making lists. I'm just not so good at sticking to them. Putting it out there may be just what I need to shame me into doing things!
I do get some things done but I am very selective when choosing hence the stuff I like doing gets done, and what I don't doesn't.0
