Had a good tidy up yesterday and felt better for it. Considered tasks for week ending on Saturday but have opted for just one which is :-

    1) Sort out lots of paperwork; hopefully making more organised the house with minimilism and "prepping" goals too.

P.S. Hello MinnieMousesMummy. Good luck with your plan.

    1) Paperwork sorted out intermittently last week e.g.updating of a household notebook/"menu cards"/recycled cardboard and the C.V. (long version) continued. In turn, an idea of what is stored and where, what is required, is needed to be done, not what to buy and scrap paper acquired.

From last Sunday until the end of Saturday:-

    1) Sunday - tidy up day and planning (done as much as possible).
    2) Rest of the week :-
    a) try not to create such a "mess" in the house particularly the kitchen. So will try and keep meals simple and use up ready made meals/ingredients needing little preparation. Also, consider this if new purchases are made.
    b) Autumn theme - forage local edible foods available this time of year and consider potential for frost in relation to the garden edibles.
    c) Paperwork sorting as usual!

Welcome gele. There have been a lot of posters over the life of the thread but we were getting low on numbers a few weeks ago, sometimes you posted and it was like speaking into a big hollow cave and skivers like me were not pulling their weight - after 3 weeks bed rest and 15 weeks physiotherapy (exercises at home every day) 2 weeks ago, after lots of x-rays they told me I have severe arthritis in my right hip and have to see a surgeon (clear space all round the bone where there should be cartilage and synovial fluid).

Forgot to ask lots of questions and the 3 books I borrowed from the library say keep going but don't do too much. Just can't put weight on my leg when I stand up, walk much, go up a ladder. AS I have been attempting to get my house up for sale and am so broke I was doing as much as possible myself, this wasn't helpful. So at the moment I am adjusting and re-focusing to making sure as little as possible moves with me next time I move. Mum is going to pay for remaining work to be done - new house is for the two of us.

So welcome and have you heard about eating a frog. The idea is that if the first thing you did each day was to eat a frog (you don't actually have to try it, just imagine) then the rest of your day would be a breeze. So any of those niggley jobs that are hanging around but you keep putting them off are frogs. So if you do that one first, everything else is simple in comparison, the frog is usually not as bad in reality as the thought of it was and getting it out of the way gives you a boost - may have explained this elsewhere in the thread so apologies if you read it twice. You may also see my earlier posts and see why the present state of affairs is so frustrating.

Life is going to be different, let's make it good (if I say it often enough I will start believing it).

Ok. I didn't do to bad for my 1st day.
    Got most things done.
I am new to meal planning but will probably do mine in reverse in that I tend to buy food [offers and whoopsies mostly] and then decide what to do with them. With that in mind I have gone through the fridge to see what needs using up urgently and checked out freezer for later in the week so I have a plan of sorts!
House insurance was due tomorrow [thought it was later on this week] an its gone up £90. My fault for trying to set the kitchen on fire just before xmas.:eek:
Only thing I didn't do was my 'get it done' plan for the rest for the week [the whole purpose of this thread !]
    Ha ha that's number 1

    1. do my get it done plan [asap tomorrow]

Thanks for the welcome Mothernerd. My frog will always be tidying [not cleaning]. This is because we are 3 messy people living here and as soon as its done its messy within minutes. DH and especially DD don't see mess at all which is so annoying. Im not sure it would work doing it first [at least not when theyre around] I have tried to housetrain them but to no avail !

Anyway this weeks list [I will edit if I think of more]

Sort paperwork, huge task - reorganise filing system then file or throw.[on-going]
Tidy dining room ready for bigger clean later in the week.[tidy done]
Family day out on Thursday - taking daughters friend [done]
Shop for kitchen tiles. [not done yet - very proud of myself!]

This is where I can come unstuck. I'm not a big spender - am very thrifty, however I do like to window shop so naturally am drawn to tile shopping and would do this first avoiding everything else 'til I've found some I like at the right price.
So I must not tile shop 'til most if not all other jobs done.

I' m (mostly) the other way round - leave the cleaning but my organisation is good. I haven't been able to go in the attic since February (attic stairs are one of many jobs in progress - bottom six currently replaced by a ladder. As I was the last person to use it as a bedroom, most of my stuff plus some tools, baking equipment is still up there. When we really need stuff DS1 and DS3 have been up there and I stand at the bottom 'guiding' them round the room until they have found the things on my list (I know where the things are).

DS1 has been today so has painted inside the large dining room cupboard (was going to paper it but I thought he might lose patience matching poppies and tucking behind fixed shelves), sanded the windowsill (I can manage the varnishing) and taken down the old bathroom bits I couldn't budge and put up 2 new toothmugs and holders. The towel rail that has been hanging around forever turned out to have a bit missing so more bits to purchase. He has also taken down the shower rail, so I can have one last go at getting it rust free (cheapest replacement is £150 so not giving up yet)

In between finding pots of paint and sticks to stir, I have cleaned the long side of the kitchen + sink (including 15 minutes de-grunging the plughole with a large nail - metal one not my own), done another washing up mountain and mopped and cleaned the understairs toilet and hallway panelling. Exhausted but happy.

List from now until Sunday 31st:- (week and a bit)

1 Complete birdcage cover - not urgent but would like it out of the way - can be done in bed if I can't move tomorrow. DONE
2 Clear the bed - had done it but stuff has been creeping back.
3 Mum's birthday card - needs embroidering (by 28th). DONE
4 Next batch of books/ cds/ dvds for sale. Together but not yet listed
5 Clean fridge (inside) and fronts of appliances and units.
6 Sim card for mobile phone -mum now has 2 free phones for me. Phones collected -3
7 Possible other sales (+ freecycle) once I have a phone.
8 DS2's boiler - no hot water. On hold - builder was due but DS2 has a new job and may be moving out and he was extremely rude (and owes about 12 weeks rent).
    9 Varnishing Done
    10 Continue internet research Continuing
11 Plant quick growing plants and flowers Sunflowers in
12 Cooking day - carrot cake, bean recipes and quiches, curry.

Have a good week everyone. DS1 is hoping to come next week so hopefully a few more house bits ticked off as well (and little stair mender on 30th but may be more social than work based - DS3's friend, will work for pizza).
