My list from yesterday (Sunday) until Saturday: -
1) Tidy up day, end of month jobs and plan for the week ahead.
2) Miscellaneous food-related tasks (meal planning, using up food, foraging, edible greens from the garden, checking BBE. dates on food, checking prices of regularly purchased food, online order(s) or not).
3) Health-related (collect prescription and what to do regarding losing weight challenge).
4) Whatever needs improving/repairing around the home.
By the way, thanks mothernerd for your comment regarding my tasks. I've also thought that other folk, yourself included, tend to achieve a lot despite what is occurring in their personal "worlds".0 -

hi all,
So with DD back at school this week, the one thing I have done is got uniform washed and ironed. My list for this coming week is:
1. cut grass in front garden (back garden is too far gone and needs professional input)
2. hoover stairs and lounge
3. try and fix curtain rail that has fallen down (my bedroom)
4. Get kitchen surfaces cleared and all washing up done
5. do some batch cooking and freeze
6.Washing and ironing
7. half an hour tidying DDs room
8. Clean bathroom
9. sort through 100 items of paperwork and deal with or shred
wishing you all a good week
So much for good intentions. None of the above done. Please feel free to give me a virtual boot up the backside. So I'm going to leave the list the same and really try to tick things off through this week.
Hope you've all done better!0 -
Quite happy with last week's progress - all 3 boxes of sold dvds, cds and books have now left the house and spent Thursday ferrying accumulated cs stuff out of the house by bus + did 2 small shopping trips, sat under the trees and got my 'new to me' mobile working (sitting on a stool in Tessimos whilst a nice young man put a free sim card in, unblocked it, linked it with my clubcard and topped it up - triple credit and clubcard points).
Cooking day happened, learned to multi-quote and taught 3 other people how to do it (learn 1, do 1, teach 1?). Fridge is clean and full of sub 20p bargains which have made most meals for the past few days.
Re-painted the skirting boards in the front room and something else (forget what but remember mentally ticking it off - single bed is mended).
Making up mum's cushions had to be put on hold as the builders are starting tomorrow at 9am, to do most of the jobs I can no longer do - laminate floors in 3 rooms, new socket plates and light switches + pull cords, new light fitting up in the front room, finishing the stairs, 2 plinths and chimney breast in dining room (last bit of dpc now we know soot has stopped coming down the chimney), finishing off the attic stairs, bathroom fittings (only towel rails etc) and fixing a leak. There are other bits but until that lot has been tackled we can't assess them.
So a considerable effort has gone into clearing space and putting things where they need to be (not easy when 3 floors need to be clearand the attic is still inaccessible)
DS1 also phoned to say he couldn't come (last week) but will do one day this week and one next week (will let me know when his day off is) so I am hoping he can do some of the deep cleaning I can't manage and probably some small painting tasks.
I don't want to drop out this week but so far my week goes:-
Monday, set alarm for 7.30am to be ready to let mr laminate floor in at 9am. Set him to work in the tiny bedroom while I see if I can move anything else out of the front room. When he moves onto the front room, my bed needs to be dismantled (have warned DS3) and put in the tiny room so that my floor an be done. mr and mrs builder will turn up between 10am and 11am and everything from the dining room moves into the newly laid front room. Don't know what happens next. Mainly clearing the next bit or finding tools for mr builder (usually easier to find mine than to find his in his car).
So should be lots of progress but atm I don't know if I will have a bed to sleep in tomorrow night. Do what I can, help/ keep out of the way as needed/ feed myself (luckily only the plinths need doing in the kitchen), stay sane (last time I had this many people working on the house I mostly stayed in the attic). Will post a list if I can work out what can be done (and I have a space to do it in).
So have a good week everyone. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -

Not too bad a week, however most on the list were jobs that I should be doing weekly, I need to be adding things to the list that are over and above normal weekly tasks.
However i also saved photos to my external hard drive. (Lots of photos)
Will have a think about this weeks tasks and pop back tomorrow.
Hope all are well.SPC 18 Target £200 /0 -

1) and 2) completed.
3) Collected the prescription which I dislike doing. Tried to make the task more worthwhile by having a walk first to collect more blackberries. My idea for the the losing weight challenge was to do more gardening exercise as satisfying to complete these tasks.
4) Home improving/repairing such as repaired a sleeping bag, front garden tidy up, lots of cutting back of weeds overlapping pavement areas and sorted out wild birds feeding area.0 -
From yesterday until the end of Saturday -
1) Tidy up day, update menu ideas based on existing food in the house and planning for the weeks tasks.
2) Front of the house tidy up as the wall base has clumps of weeds growing out. Keep doing gardening tasks for the losing weight challenge.
3) Think of and do any (moneysaving) tasks that feel most satisfying. Hopefully to improve wellbeing and assist the above challenge.
That's it folks and thanks for your recent posts!0 -
Just a quick list this week as we're half way through already.
Dust all rooms
Make a chicken broth/soup from leftovers from Sundays roast
Small shop
Hoover
Few hours of work in the week
Keep on top of washing up
Ironing
Will have a proper think about my jobs list at the weekend as there are plenty of things that need doing over and above the weekly cleaning, I can just never think of them when I post.SPC 18 Target £200 /0 -
Well much has been done over the past week. Mr and mrs builder and mr laminate flooring (who had to be hunted down and dragged here) have done many jobs large (3 newly laid laminate floors and the vestibule, new plates on the light switches and plugs + a real socket in my room, not a stupid extension thing going through the wall and a fireplace in the dining room instead of a large brick hole) to small ( 3 new bricks under the dining room window, no leak at the side of the house and my bath tap has a letter H attached again).
DS1 came on Thursday and scrubbed the bathroom tiles from top to bottom (said it felt like 8 hours work when he was an hour in - this is the boy who spends up to 3 hours a day in the gym) and painted the fascia board above the vestibule and bay window). Also did a bit of shopping and took some things to DS2 when he went to get his sandwich.
I have painted skirtings and paneling, 1/2 the backboard to the attic stairs (I have been re-united with my possessions) and found things/ moved things/ wiped things.Job List for Week to Sunday September 21st.
1 CLEAN FRIDGE It was turned off for most of one day and parts of two others and now smells as though something has died in there (have never seen hard boiled eggs with blue fuzzy mould on the outside before). Bought more bi-carb. DONE:j
2 GLOSS PAINTING ON THE STAIRS AND SIDE PANELING IN THE HALL Carpet is being fitted in hall. stairs and landing on Thursday so need any essential bits (I am not re-doing all the spindles) need to be done by early Wednesday (to allow for drying). DONE:T
3 CLEAR AND CLEAN Hallway and landing - mostly just bits of spare laminate (hoping to use these inside fitted wardrobes and under attic stairs - don't need to be cut precisely). DONE:j
4 MAKE NOTES FROM ARTHRITIS BOOKS (Follows on from below but needs to be done first). DONE:T
5 TUESDAY OLD HOUSE WHILE MR AND MRS BUILDER ASSESS THE BOILER DONE unfortunately it has gone to boiler heaven and a replacement is required.
Take library books to return (pick new ones) DONE:j
Buy any fresh veg but keep an eye on plain yoghurt - see 1DONE:j
Buy neutral paint for any remaining areas (have some bits to use up) Not done - will see how I feel tomorrow (lot of pain today).:T
Tackle yard shrubs/ weeds (sitting where possible) DONE AN HOUR+:T
6 GREEN WASTE BACK TO THIS HOUSE FOR GREEN BIN (If possible - bus hop or see if mr builder can drop it off on his way home). DONE Not done but rummaged through his bins, sorted all the bottles and can into brown bin and left for binmen (tomorrow). This made space for 1 bin bag and three smaller rubbish bags which were in the house and yes it was every bit as disgusting as it sounds (especially 3 bottles with 'gone off' milk).:A
7 THURSDAY - CARPET MAN DONEAND DS1 (DS1 jobs)
Paint gutters above vestibule and bay window
Clean (frames and glass) vestibule and bay window, inside and out DONE
If time permits:-
Stones DONEand Broken slabs (need some moved to the front of the house)
Door handle on bathroom door) Can probably do these myself
Grout in corner of kitchen )
8 FRIDAY - MUM'S
Ask for special grouting pen (she mentioned it on the phone)
Flowers/ card for R (took us out last Friday - mum's birthday treat)
9 RUBBISH mr and mrs builder will collect larger rubbish items from front of house after carpet man has been
10 PAPER PURGE Coming to the end of several notebooks + my things are once again in boxes (some still in DS3's room). Did not have any sitting down, sorting time last week.
11 TOOL SORT Tools have been borrowed/ used in various parts of the house - time to sort back into appropriate containers (rusty screws to recycle bin). Started
12 PHONE Learn a few new bits on my phone (list numbers/ get in and out of messages etc - again not much sit in a corner quietly time). Getting there
13 WIPE/DO/RE-LIST remaining jobs room by room (wipe as I go - use and wash rags, washing machine currently 1/2 full).
14 JOBS I CAN DO (This Week?)
Stain stop in my room (mostly where bits have fallen/ been trapped behind the bed) DONE:j
Paint blue wall in my room (have leftover paint - try DS3 for bits above picture rail where attic hand rail fell, making an arc on the wall)
Paint radiators in tiny bedroom (single bed can go back, storage drawers so more places to hide things + bed can be made up so space in wardrobe) and bathroom (before the carpet man puts the new vinyl down?) DONE:j
Gosh I feel tired already. A cooking day would be nice - a sort of re-claiming my space ritual. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0
