Thought I would update what has been completed so far this week

get rid of ironing pile and put clothes and underwear in drawers - done one big pile at the weekend, still have more to do
clean out bedroom which will include changing bed sheets and curtains - work in progress
keep living room tidy ( hoover, mop and dust) - work in progress
meal plan for next week - haven't done
lose 2 pounds at Slimming world (first weigh in Tuesday) - put on 0.5 :(
Back at Guides ( make a plan for what to do) - got guides to plan rest of year
exercise twice (Tuesday and Thursday) none done

This has been a bit of a hard week as the MIL been taken to hospital with a fractured hip and might be operating on her tomorrow. Car went on the blink Tuesday so pick up today.
I am working on Sunday so that day is out for doing anything on my list.
    getting frustrated with myself
  • Productive afternoon. Got up from my night shift and caught up with the cleaning. Bathroom kitchen and hovering all done. :j

As for my list, washing finally caught up with :T
    Also cleaned the oven :A

Think I've just got to change the bed sheets now but I'll do that tomorrow.

Also going off the meal plan and having a takeaway for dinner. Just me in tonight and I never left anything out to defrost - no microwave either!

But if u can't treat yourself now and then when can u! :)

  • ok i did post last week that i would be back with my list and i got sidetracked (story of my life lol )

anyhow i am going to do a couple of lists a week, a weekend list and a weekday list in the hope that neither of them will be too big and put me off doing anything so onwards and upwards and here we go :)

    weekend list 18th/19th January

Clear out youngest DD's cupboard and either sell/recycle/donate old clothes.
Compile list of things needed for holiday next month and pack at least one of my suitcases.
Clear out and declutter space underneath stairs.
    Update financial diary

enough to be going on with i think as quite frankly dd's clothes could last her about 6 months before i had to wash anything and she would still have clean clothes every day lol. i am anticipating that taking a while to complete.

    Hello!

Love the concept of this thread- Thank you for starting it up treasure013 :T

I've been meaning to sign up, so will make sure I hit subscribe this time!

I realise there are only 2 more days left of this challenge so I will follow in the footsteps of chocolatebum (hehe, love your username!) and create a weekend To do List to ease me into next weeks, weekly one. (Hope this is ok!)

I used to obsessively keep lists in a little note book, but find myself constantly adding to them so they become never ending and eventually quite demotivating and somewhat stressful!! Having a limited time scale and breaking tasks down into something more achievable each week definitely would prevent my terrible habit of procrastination! I think this challenge will work well with me. I have found the MSE forums to be brilliant for getting things done financially, as partaking in certain challenges you have to propose what you will achieve and then check in to mark your progress. I have found this very motivating, although anonymous as such, being public definitely gives me the motivation to reach goals and celebrate even the smallest achievement! :j

So here goes, just a lil list for the weekend:
    • Pick up Passport Documents From Post Office (Need to Renew My Passport!)
    • Fill in Passport Forms - Post office was closed when I visited it (Their opening times were not the same as the one's listed online) :( so I will carry the Passport 'To Do's' over to the next challenge! :)
    • [STRIKE]Try to get Out on One Country Walk.[/STRIKE] - Done- 2 Hour Hike and some Geocaching! :)
    • [STRIKE]Read 2 Chapters of My Current Book[/STRIKE] - Done
    • [STRIKE]Change Bed Linen and Polish and hoover upstairs.[/STRIKE] - Done
    • [STRIKE]Register Pets @t H0me points Card[/STRIKE]- Done

    Happy Friday All! :)

    • De-clutter craft room!!!

Can I join too. I am a newcomer to the site (I have been a follower for many years, have the books, do things like comparing gas and electric bills but haven't joined in till now). Have been reading stuff all week but this is the first post.
I have a to do list as long as my arm - Only me and the baby (23 year old) still at home now so DOWNSIZING IS A PRIORITY but this means getting the house fit to sell. Spent all my money on a damp proof course in October (all plaster under 3 feet chipped off , kitchen base units skipped as they were rotten. We discovered an indoor swimming pool under the floorboards, masses of old bricks and damp soot in one of the fireplaces and a leak under the bath brought down half the kitchen ceiling -dealing with these took any emergency money/ money towards the kitchen had. My oven has been propped up on bricks (keeps it level and useable) and the shelving I am using was in the back yard at my mothers. Roof repairs had to be put off till January and I spent the intervening weeks (until about week before Christmas) priming, undercoating and glossing all the new skirting boards and painting the living room, dining room , kitchen hallway and downstairs loo with the special new plaster paint. Also did the ceilings covering any hairline cracks (needed anti- damp and stain paint and mould remover from when the walls were damp before - spread through the cavity wall to upstairs bedroom ) and used leftover cans to touch up any downstairs bits not directly affected (above dado/picture rail depending on room).
I jotted down lots of jobs that need doing (crawling round on your hands and knees you really notice things) and having them written down was better than having them in my head).
Before Christmas I tried writing a THIS WEEK list -
DON'T put so many things on that you get discouraged and
MORE flexible than a daily list
I read somewhere once that IF IT'S ONLY A FIVE MINUTE JOB, DO IT NOW (takes you longer to find the list and write it down and if you need encouraging you can always write it down on the list and cross it off straight away.
THREE THINGS RULE (been using this a lot recently) Before I leave my bedroom in the morning (if it's not freezing) I look round and try to find three things I can put away or that need to be taken out of the room, then when I get down to the bathroom I repeat the process (lots of stuff still on landing/ rubbish from son's room on bin day). Any little thing you can do to improve that room.
    THIS WEEK
I compared gas and electric prices
    Started a food diary
Wrote a State of Affairs (might be able to get it up on the board now)
Phoned Council and got my Council Tax rebate (£136)
    Started a spending diary
Put two hinges on the shed door (been off for two/three years now - painted it and the hinges in summer )
Third hinge broken - put in recycle bin (bought a replacement -2 for a pound- before Christmas but couldn't find it - must have been that mad throwing everything in a box and hiding it on Boxing Day when unexpected visitors phoned to say they were on their way)
Found new hinge , put it on and re-attached missing strip
Transferred £4000 of debt from 22.481% card to 4.9 % for a year (Couldn't get 0 % card but two existing cards -away in drawer, not using, paying off - had recently increased my credit limit)
Made a trip to B&Q to look at sheds to work out where the remaining strip of shed door should go - by next week I might have it back on the shed.
Made an appointment to see a health trainer (lost three stone in last year, started 12 week free weigh in and group plus exercise class in October but now have to pay £4-95 a week ) Decide to miss group, still go to exercise class pay £4.95 every Monday off my debts as part of the make a payment every day.
SORRY this is a lot longer than I expected it to be and I have gone a bit off topic in places.
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.
