nearlyrich - I dont mean to be rude, but you don't know what myself and my daughter have been through, a damm lot and were still going through it, so whether its Christmas or a normal day its still a day where we have to try and cope.
Trust me, my daughter knows things dont run smoothly, so when the money has been spent, shall I go to the money tree at the bottom of the garden to get some more to get replacement presents??????
You're right, mum2one, nobody knows what you have been through (and I personally don't want or need to know).
You can't expect posters to react to what seems to them a trivial incident with the same outrage that you obviously have reacted.
I doubt many MSE members have received a crystal ball in their Christmas stocking so don't expect them to agree that something that is clearly very important and a big deal to you isn't you over-reacting.
Your Christmas Eve plans were spoiled but everything worked out in the end.0 -
This is why I always try to order things no later than Dec 14th as that is about 7 working days to Christmas Eve.
If you order too close to the cut off date, prepared to take risks. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

You live in the UK, there will always be someone worse off than you. Doesn't mean you can't get upset from time to time!
I do feel for those caught up in the storm though, it's nothing like the Christmas they thought they'd have. I think that's what makes it the hardest - the difference between expectations and reality.0 -
Think yourself lucky! You had an M&S order which was screwed up. Thousands this Christmas had no power, no family visiting them, due to planes/trains cancelled and their homes flooded out.
Next time you want to rant, spare a thought of those in a worse situation like you!!!This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
But M & S didn't oblige you to purchase a Christmas gift from their sale that started a week before Christmas Day.
IMO the better option would be to teach your daughter that sometimes things don't go according to plan, and she could hand over the gift later on, thus extending the pleasure of Christmas for her grandparents. The sale started on the Wed, the day I ordered, as I said I wanted to collect instore, as I could have collected from the day after in theory, therefore I ddn't leave it late - M+S left it late. If they cant deliver before Xmas don't offer the services.0 -
It is a real shame that some people are so ill prepared for real life that they make mountains out of such tiny little molehills.35, semi retired, sun, sand, sea, life is good

Thanks Marks and Spencers for upsetting the family on Christmas Eve - really nice one there.
My daughter had saved her pocket money to buy her grandparents a Christmas present from her own money, ( I have brought gifts for her, but shes at an age where she wants independance, 11yrs old).
M+S sale - she gave me the money for 4 items, I ordered a couple, (last Wed) wanted to collect from store on Mon 23rd, - couldn't do that as some items weren't available, and I was offered free home delievery for the same date.
Parcel 1 arrives on Saturday - luckly there was someone here to sign
Parcel 2 - says original delievery date of 23rd. Checked the online delievery says all due for delievery and can be between 7am and 9pm.
9pm - No delievery - rang M+S - no answer.
----
Fast forward Christmas Eve - which is always a family day, where we go out, take flowers to the cemetary for relatives passed, - no we couldn't go out as there was no one here to collect the parcel and we couldn't ask neighbours as there out or working.
No parcel........ mid afternoon another person in the street come round with a M+S parcel - they didn't recognise the name, but asked around, - in their lovely wisdom M+S had missed one number off my house
eg instead of 36, they put 6 - now in this day and age I don't know half the people who live in the street.
I have had a really upset girl as she feels its her fault that she asked me to get her some presents, we needed to wait for parcel, there was no customer service, and it really upset us having to try to do trips in rounds so that there was someone here, really has spolit what was a family day,
Sorry to hear about your upset mum2one.
You came on here to vent your feelings as this is the forum I would have written on too if I wanted to moan...quite rightly too if in your opinion you were upset by the service you got.
I'm wondering now if you wish you hadn't bothered.
Hope you have a better New Year.
