    Hello girls,

Some of you may know what has happened (via the cross stitch cafe) and some might not - I recently lost my mum, and have been a bit of a lurker in the forum.

Yesterday, I managed to do some stitching and finished the latest part in the learning sampler - where I learned variation of smyrna crosses (top 2 rows and bottom 2 rows) and double leviathan stitches (middle row).

So here it is with the first 5 parts done

I have tried to zoom in here with the specialty stitches

Will try and pop by again soon,

    sweetcarer ;)

  • Hello Sweetcarer. It is always hard losing someone close but I hope you have many happy memories to hold on too. I too think that among the Forumites you will find many others who will understand how you feel.
Meanwhile carry on with your beautiful needlework. You most certainly have an amazing talent.

Hope you don't mind me joining the party late :o I think this is a lovely way to remember a much missed member btw. I will try and do 14 things although everything else always seems more important than taking time out for me - so that's kind of why I'd like to try this and force myself to stop with the miserable things once in a while ;)

There are many things I'd like to make but will have to learn first!

    1. Male 40th card
    2. Valentine's Card
    3. Slate sign
    4. Glitterise jars for table centres
    5. Paint inside of bottles
    6. Wire wrap seaglass and make thong necklet
    7. Seaglass mobile
    8. Seaglass anklet
    9. Text Art dog shape for dog den
    10. Polish seaglass, if I can acquire a stone tumbler :(
    11. Driftwood art
    12. Seaglass chandelier for garden
    13. Transfer photo to canvas or fabric
    14. Make party bunting for garden

Oh heck, better get my fingers out!! :o

Wow, what a wonderful list. Can't wait to see your progress.
But i am trying to stick to my pledge of not buying anymore kits untill ive used up at least most of my stash. im letting myself buy things to complete items

Having done this last year mrs m I know how satisfying it is to stash bust! The reward of course is once you've used everything up you can go and buy some more :j:j:j

Hm I need to stash bust too, bought loads before my accident with a view to churning lots out to sell, then lost all my creativity (which wasn't much to start with!) with the injury, then came all the chaos and fighting to keep my head above water, so it never got used :o Now I'm unemployed you'd think I'd have more time, but now I have a giant huskamute to entertain and take for walkies!! :rotfl: But I will try harder to find some time and learn what I need to to complete at least 50% of that list!!! _pale_

Sweetcarer I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. You're in my thoughts x

I've uploaded pics of the headbands being modelled (very loose use of the term model! First time I've done a selfie :rotfl:) into the Flickr group - didn't fancy plastering my mug all over the forum though! I've sewed the button onto the thinner band and am quite pleased, though may crochet a flower for the next one. Will see how much wear this one gets before I decide!

Only got 6 more squares to do for the granny square cushion, then got to decide how to finish & sew it together - busy weekend planned with little time to crochet but I'm so near yet so far with this - been working on it (sporadically) since November!

  • Good Morning!!

Lovely progress with the tiger cub Mrs MP!

Another quick update from me - I will pop some more pics on flickr later (I can't do it from work)

    3. Activity Books for the kids -
    done! 16.01.2013
    4. Table Plan - going to use a mirror for this and have bought that already so as soon as we confirm our guest list more I can crack on with this
    5. Winnie the Pooh cross stitch - started out as a gift but the baby in question is now 5 (and won't appreciate it anymore) so aiming to have it ready for any of my own potential children..
    6. VW Campervan cross - started as a gift for DF in 2012 and never completed
    7. Christmas stockings for 2014 -
    done 18.01.2014
    8. Christmas gift sacks for 2014

I diverted my attention to a quick Valentines cross stitch as a gift for OH so have made no progress with my other stitchs - its done now though so back onto them this weekend. Got a lot of time to kill for a change this weekend so hopefully good progress will be made!
