    Xmas Saver!
Apologies in advance, - but figured this be the best place to ask...

I brought some of the scarf wool that when knitted has the ruffle effect, (cheapie on ebay) - there was no pattern or suggestion ......

I was expecting it to be like the finished product, - but wasn't sure if I knit it normally then pull the rufflle out or pull the ruffle and knit of that - (if that makes sense)

Sorry for a silly question xxx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

Pleased I could help with the scarf tutorial. :D
I made 16 of those scarves one Christmas. I was making one an evening - I sold 10 and gave the rest as pressies. The ones I sold paid for the pressies. :money:

    1) Granny Square cushion - Squares now all completed, just need to stitch them together, and then work out what to do for the back of the cushion
    2) Cowl scarf - did this but it didn't turn out right so want to have another go and actually check the gauge this time :wall:
    3) [STRIKE]Beanie hat for my friend [/STRIKE]- DONE! Forgot to take any pictures before I gave it to her though. I'm not entirely happy with how it turned out as it didn't seem to gather properly at the top but she pretended to like it... :rotfl:
    4) Turtle for my nephew (hopefully for his 2nd birthday in July)
    5) Cabbage Patch Doll hair hat (joke present for my bald friend... his birthday is November so probably better start now if I'm to finish in time :rotfl:)
    6) Repair the patchwork quilt my mum made for me almost 30 years ago
    7) Finish the green UFO that is in the bottom of my wool basket. It's pretty much a lace frill - no idea what it could eventually be, maybe a hot water bottle cover...
    8) [STRIKE]Do something with the cowl scarf that went wrong [/STRIKE] - Complete - turned it into a braided headband. Pictures on Flickr
    9) Wild Roses crochet blanket
    10) Crochet hook holder
    11) Boot cuffs
    12) Learn to use a sewing machine
    13 & 14) Still TBC

Just need to stitch the granny squares together for the cushion cover and then work out how to finish it... You can see the cushion pad through the holes in the squares so I'm tempted to buy a cheap plain cover and sew the grannies to the front of that.

I placed a big order with Deramores on Friday morning for all the materials I need for the turtle, roses blanket, boot cuffs and hook holder - very exciting seeing such a large squidgy package arrive on Saturday morning :j

I feel I should repair the patchwork quilt as my next project though before starting anything new - shouldn't take too long I don't think... Famous last words eh?!

Loving all the cross stitching that is being posted - I really don't have the patience for it!! Would love to learn to use a sewing machine too, those shabby chic hearts are gorgeous - EDIT have added it to my list for 2014, the lady who runs my Woolly Wednesday social does sewing machine lessons so I'll sign up to one of her courses this year. Oooh my 14 is nearly filled now!
  • good luck with the sewing machine course Roz, youll love it im sure and think of all the other stuff youll be able to mak once you are confident on the machine.

Florenceem those hearts look lovely and really set off the doors youve hung them on well.

finished the cross stitching on the actual tiger cub and have started on the greenery around him now
