How gratifying to get off the phone just now with JCP's Work Programme liaison officer who informs me that although the unlawful sanction imposed on me was successfully overturned on Friday, it's looking unlikely that full benefit payment will be reinstated until the new year. She did wish me a merry Christmas though.

Just as well then that I had some savings in hand to pay this months council tax shortfall, internet/landline, and my fortnightly utility bill agreement, what's not such good news is those savings were intended to purchase Christmas gifts for my grandchildren today.

Things could be much much worse though, I could be facing Christmas with a leaky tap inflicted on me by a reckless plumber.

I notice that only some of my points are being commented on, is this typical of jobcentre advocates only picking out what they want rather than looking at the whole picture? Working within jobcentre it is revealing just how many people can not see how the organisation is perceived and either have the inability to grasp why or just don't care.

And I really do not need words to be emphasized in bold, it is so patronizing when someone feels they have to reinforce their message when it says more about them than me.

I think the only answering some points can be said from both camps and it can be very frustrating when the point you are trying to make keeps being ignored.

In my experience of the job centre it was the "customers" who were causing the problems and the job centre staff who were doing their best to help them as best they could. But I am also not naïve enough to believe that this is always the case and as with every job you will find some people who relish the thought of getting others into trouble and making themselves look good. Personally I would never like to work in environment where security guards as a necessity and as I said previously morals and beliefs are all well and good but don't put food on the table.
Play nice  Just because I am paranoid doesn't mean they are not out to get me.:j

Calm down dear, I'm not one of your subservient claimants. It's that kind of attitude that reinforces the stereotype.

Nobody thinks that claimants should be subservient but a bit of gratitude wouldn't go amiss occasionally.

New member, first post, joins contentious discussion with extreme example.....mmmmmm.

Being sanctioned for arriving ten minutes late to an appointment is not an extreme example, it is the norm.

I am trying to help here by explianing the late process, no one gets sanctioned for being late on a one off.
    The process,
Customer arrives late is issed with ES19 for NEXT appointment, cust arrives on time for appointment end of process, arrives late then reason sent to LMDMA
Advisers do not impose sanction and you can only be sanctioned if ES19 details the particular day and time you are late. If any one has been sanctioned for being late without the ES19 being issued appeal!

Customer arrives late for an appointment - JC adviser refers customer for sanctioning:

"Failure to attend/participate in an adviser interview/training scheme "

Customer is sanctioned for four weeks.
  • I hate early appointments at the JC I had one the other week at 9.30:eek: I only just made it and was lucky there were no hold ups. I could not set off earlier as I had to drop my son off at school, the school does not open to 9 so could not leave any earlier than that. When trying to explain this to the advisor all she would say was if I had a job I would be would be expected to be there at 9.30, this is very true BUT to do so I would be putting my son in childcare so I could make sure I wouldn't be late. I can't afford childcare to attend the JC and if I could no one would accept him on a one off placement for half an hour.

who? i dont know anyone who could babysit at that time in the morning. I do have a friend who I could ask at other times but their children go to different schools so they couldn't be in two places at once.

yes I said that above I only have one friend who doesn't work and her children go to a different school so she wouldn't be able to take my son in for me. My Dad works, as does my ex MIL (she gets one day off a week so if it was on that day she could possibly take him but she lives a mile away from his school with no transport and I suspect she would say no) there is no one else unfortunately.
