You asked for a link, I gave it and you didn't bother to read the stuff there. You haven't had time to look, read, consider it and reply.

    Typical.

    Of course they're not.

But how many occupations arouse such dislike? Shop assistants? Shop assistants and factory workers do get abused and assaulted. But do they get abused and assaulted because they are shop assistants and factory workers?

Do they get criticised for operating their employer's pricing policy? Does someone smash up Sainsbury's because of the price of beans?

Plumbers? Well a few might make little jokes about not turning up. But do you hear of assaults on plumbers?

    Accountants?

These are tragic and, fortunately, rare examples of the society we live in and are not limited to jobcentre staff. We all know there are long term benefit claimants, generations in fact. However that does not justify ridiculous sanctions or setting of petty targets. Yes the adviser does have some vulgar people to deal with every day but so do social workers, police, NHS staff etc who also can give examples of rapes and murders of their staff. We could never get through the day if we tarred them all with the same brush.

There are targets in place, there is plenty of evidence, usually they are dressed up as performance appraisals where an adviser may be accused of not being vigilant enough or under performing if they have referred less sanctions than their colleagues or local offices.

Clients are sanctioned for being 5 minutes late in our local jobcentres, if you are not there before signing time then you are not allowed to sign and are sanctioned. I think the culture drips down from the top, the advisers are following instructions and have very little time to perform a multitude of prescriptive tasks and tick boxes.

I am aware that floor staff do not like calling them customers it's usually a lot worse from where I'm standing.

These incidents are hardly rare, more like a daily occurrence. But you never get to hear the advisors stories... just the hard done by customers.

Hardly a fair comparison, plumbers can't inflict destitution on anyone. Plus when dealing with plumbers, accountants and shop assistants the 'customer' has the choice take their custom elsewhere.

I hate early appointments at the JC I had one the other week at 9.30:eek: I only just made it and was lucky there were no hold ups. I could not set off earlier as I had to drop my son off at school, the school does not open to 9 so could not leave any earlier than that. When trying to explain this to the advisor all she would say was if I had a job I would be would be expected to be there at 9.30, this is very true BUT to do so I would be putting my son in childcare so I could make sure I wouldn't be late. I can't afford childcare to attend the JC and if I could no one would accept him on a one off placement for half an hour.

I have to drop my children off and get to work.

I am trying to help here by explianing the late process, no one gets sanctioned for being late on a one off.
    The process,
Customer arrives late is issed with ES19 for NEXT appointment, cust arrives on time for appointment end of process, arrives late then reason sent to LMDMA
Advisers do not impose sanction and you can only be sanctioned if ES19 details the particular day and time you are late. If any one has been sanctioned for being late without the ES19 being issued appeal!

For those who have childcare restrictions and no partner available for those times then you agreement should reflect those times, you then cannot be asked and more importantly sanctioned if your appointment is out of your availability or sufficient notice issued.
Please check the times you have stated you are available if you really have issues attending JCP at that time.

People on this site are happy to help, we are not happy to recieve constant abuse.

No evidence, all hearsay, and were going round in circles, back to "it's my job" again. Until an advisor grows a pair and stands up for his/her morales and beliefs nothing will change.

no matter the size of JCP staffs balls they cannot change legislation, you wrote to your MP lately asking for a chnage in the law?

I have yet to meet an adviser who agrees with the whole of the sanction process. Some aspects yes, but not all.

I just dread when I am told I can work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you actually mean to admit that!
  • But it is ok for JSA to be running over 30 mins late? If it goes to one way it should another. It will never help people on JSA. Let the person who have been sanctioned explain then. I think JSA do give sanctions for petty reasons and the government do not give a s..t. The do not give a damn.

Nothing on here will change my opinion. JSA do not care full stop.

Again let me know if your job has stopped you 4 weeks money for being late. No, why? because you can't!! A lot of crap and no proof!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why not? People are being sanctioned for petty reasons that cannot be justified. Should I say, I will agree to everything, NO. No body can.
