Crazy JSA Sanction

No evidence, all hearsay, and were going round in circles, back to "it's my job" again. Until an advisor grows a pair and stands up for his/her morales and beliefs nothing will change.
At the very least, advisors are working to support themselves and their families, unlike many of the people posting on here.0 -
Firstly there is NO LONGER a target for sanction, yes there was but hasn't been for a number of years.
There is an expectation and many will say this is the same but that is the word now used.
As for the poster who was sanctioned for being 8 mins late, if this story is true I suggest yu appeal quickly because to be sanctioned for being late an adviser has to issue you with a formal notofication first. If you attend late you will be issued with an ES9 which states the day and time you were required to attend and the time and date you are now required to attend and the consequences of not doing so. I suggest you ask JCP to show you the copy or proof one was issued and the appeal if they cannot produce it.
Sanctions are effective if used correctly. Adviser and staff do have to refer all doubts there is no grace or let off their own job is at risk if they do so. No different to any other job in the public or private sector. you know what you have to do and you get on with it.0 -
In my area, I would never have an appointment at 9am as the traffic is a nightmare!! A 5 min journey can take you 30 mins. But I still do not believe that you should be sanctioned for being 8 mins late. If you are late for work, do you get sanctioned for a few weeks? No.0

A work collegue was threated by a claimant this week at my office, he leant across the desk and very quiet and said he could quite easily put the pen in her eye and she wouldn't be able to do a thing about it. People think this is reasonable to expect from someone who has got the age of 37 born 6 kids yet never worked?
People need to remember not everyone on JSA wants a job, many do but those who do not mean the system has to be tough and yes unfortunately some people get caught up and mixed in with the long term professional scroungers.0 -

Surely if you had a job you would be able to make it for 9am? If you know a journey may take thirty mins, then you set off at 8.20am, leaving plenty of leeway to get there in time.0 -

But this is wrong, if you worked in the same town as the JCP and needed to start at 9am every morning what would you do?
We all have to get to work on time and yes things happen, unless he was late the first time JCP should not have taken the action and I really think he needs to follow this up or he isn't telling the truth.
Starting out earlier would be the obvious suggestion.
If someone is repeatedly late for work then it can cost them their job.0 -

Do not agree with you. There are many things that can cause a delay. In my area, one thing happening on the roads can cause absolute chaos! I still say, if you are late for work, you are NOT sanctioned. You may be given a warning or a couple but you do not lose your money do you.0 -
This happens in many areas, how many comuters rely on the M6 M5 M25 or any other busy route to get to work, many people have to drop of siblings, catch a train etc..
This is not a good reason to not have a 9am appointment and as I have pointed out you have to be late and issued with a notification before a sanction. Sorry but if if a claimant used this reason with me I would still book a 9am slot.0 -
Well, I do not agree. And you still have not said if you would lose pay for 4 weeks, because the answer is NO you would not!!!
We will agree to disagree!! Why are so people so anti those on benefits!!0 -

What is there to disagree with? You know what the traffic is like in your area and you plan accordingly. You are sanctioned for being late for work, through a poor performance review (and no pay rise/ promotion), and ultimately through dismissal.
Surely if you worked (I'll assume you do not) you would make sure you were there on time?0
