They'd probably start asking about donors and turkey basters! :rotfl:Early retired - 18th December 2014

What do childfree people think about christmas. Do you ever feel your missing out on the santa stuff and magic of christmas for kids etc. The exciting xmas eve waiting for santa.
Not really, I am involved with my 3 nieces, I am 'santa's confidante'I'm not CFBC but have come to accept it as well as I can at 42, and also involve myself in my local village church activities we run for children & their families so I get the best of both worlds - all the nice Xmassy things but no dealing with tantrums or dealing with pukes after too many sweets!

I don't need to know you changed their smelly bum! I didnt tell you I emptied my kittens litter tray.
It does annoy me when people assume that if a child free person has pets then its because they must be a baby substitute. Its not an either/or!
I have animals because I love animals, I would have them whether I had children or not. Lots of people have both!0 -

I agree, we had cats and a couple of dogs when our son was young, but I have noticed whist doing my pet-sitting that some animals (especially dogs) do appear to be child subsitutes for some people.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

I still have the magic of christmas thanks!
Santa still 'visits' - it's just nowadays he's wearing a thong with the words 'Xmas Stuffing' on the front and looks suspiciously like my husband :rotfl:
On a more serious note, Christmas is about love, in all its forms, for everyone. It's not just about children. Christmas is what you make it, with children or without.0 -

What makes you think that though? The fact that they love them?
If they have their own room and a wardrobe full of outfits, fair enough, but I don't really get this 'pets as babies' thing, everybody I know has pet as pets!0 -

Some DO have their own rooms and a collection of outfits(or as many toys as any toddler and various beds, leads, bowls etc).
It's the way they talk about them as though they are people mainly.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

When my nieces and nephews were young I loved buying them presents and seeing their excitement on Christmas Day. Now the youngest is 19 but I still love Christmas and get excited.
I even track Santa on Christmas Eve online! The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0 -

agreed I've had pets since i was small and my first full responsibility for a pet at 12, no one would call that a "child substitute".
I think maybe they confuse caring for a pet with child substitute?
What makes a pet a substitute?
I love my kitten i feed and care for him, buy treats and play games, but he isnt a substitute.0 -
