    That's correct. You don't. I do though.

No offence intended Jim but I think that's a case of tough titty. I would advise OP not to reply because I can't see anything you say at this point is going to be of any help. You just want to add further critique of the OP himself and I think that's unfair.

Not at all Glyn, I put a great deal of difference in 5 minutes and 5 hours late for a delivery. I understand 5 minutes can be caused by reasons beyond a driver's control, such as an accident or sudden road closure for example. I certainly wouldn't jump to furious about 5 minutes.

Asking how late the delivery driver was is a legitimate question that I didn't expect so much trouble to get an answer for.

It could also be a bargaining chip to reclaim his delivery costs if the OP incurred any, or maybe a voucher of good will.

At no point have I defended Tesco's other failings that the OP has reported. It's a simple, easy to answer question that could help others make an informed choice on their wine delivery's this Christmas.

So i'll try once more, how late were they?

I've already said to you twice that when you tell me what helpful advice you intend to give me when I give you those details I'll do so.

You've repeatedly ignored this, because, as is patently obvious to everyone who's read this thread, you don't intend to give any.

If you think I'm going to answer questions for no better reason than you demand it, you are sadly misguided.

I continue to await what helpful advice you're going to impart, since you consider it so relevant.

That's a not a problem, I'm not forcing you to answer. Seems odd you don't but that's your decision. I explained in two posts why I feel it's a legitimate question and it's a shame you feel there's some ulterior motive behind it.

Normally when someone posts a vent and someone asks for more details they're usually given - not as a motive for advice (after all you've said you don't want advice but then insist on me giving you some before simple questions are answered) but to flesh out the rant, add more validity and ultimately help people decide their own thoughts on the company or whatever the person is venting about.

Also like I said you may get delivery costs back or a voucher if they were ridiculously late. They may not agree if it's only 5 minutes.

I hope you get through to Tesco and it's resolved to your satisfaction.

Strikes me if you ordered it two weeks ago, you've had plenty of time to take yourself to a Tesco store and buy it in person, and saving yourself 25% in the process

Seems to me that you're being a bit cantankerous and antagonistic. Just sayin'

I suppose I simply think the Ops title is over the top.
Up to now we have had good service from the Tesco Wine Club, and would intend to carry on using them.
  • Blimey, that escalated a bit quickly!

If Sainsburys are at all late they've always given me a refund on their delivery charge, even if this is down to a situation out of the drivers control.

Seriously though OP, you're not showering yourself in glory here by withholding reasonable details that have been asked of you. If they were 2 minutes late then your reaction is probably over the top, have you never arrived 2 minutes late after driving somewhere?

Not calling you is poor courtesy, agreed, but your reaction seems a tad extreme.

If I remember Glynn right he is ex army and suffers from PTSD which makes him get angry quite quickly so I think people should try and go easy on him.

I apologise for winding him up myself as I didn't realise at first who he was.

So reading this some posters expect a delivery to be exactly within a time slot of an hour?

Personally I would rather a driver was late than possibly kill themselves trying to stick to a schedule because they have been held up somewhere.

I think we are lucky these days to be able to actually select a time slot, rather than having to wait in all day.

Surely it is reasonable to allow time either side, I know I always do.

As for Tesco wine deliveries I have had loads and they have never been out of stock or substituted.
