I have now decided that SP are nutts!!! as you know I spoke to them the other day andI had a fairly decent credit on my account, they said when the final gas figures came in they would pay the gas and also take the £28.95 owing on the elec bit and send me a cheque for any overpayment! They also told me to cancel my DD.

Have today received a final electric bill from them for £28.95 as I have cancelled my DD!!! Decided they are not getting a £ from me until I receive the credit owing to me ...

Sorry to go on but they way some firms are run is absolutely nutts!! do they not employ anyone that can read a computer screen and make notes of conversations had with customers!! rant over!

2010 have you heard anything yet?

I was reading an article today saying EDF will be giving the £12 government green tax rebate to their customers but NOT the other £40 to those on a fixed rate tariff, only those on a variable rate one.

I can see when everything settles down we`ll be on the move again!
Anyone thinking of switching to whoever should make sure there are NO EXIT penalties, so you can get out for free.

And what is wrong with that exactly? You signed a FIXED tariff! Sometimes, albeit rarely, prices go down.

It would seem that the email i gave does indeed work as i've checked my online banking this morning and the refund is sat in the bank, no cheques required even after i cancelled my DD. Well done SP for once.

Well done for getting your refund, I spoke to SP on one of the 0800 numbers posted earlier in this topic last night....despite getting a bill from them saying I owe them money there is a refund cheque in the post (sent the 10th so wonder how many days it will take to arrive) and the £28.95 has already been deducted from that! so I owe them `nothing`...I think some of their staff need to be trained to read a computer screen and speak to each other... so glad I`m now hopefully finished with them... fingers crossed the cheque turns up soon.

tunnel, I have just used the email as well, as despite SP telling me my account is paid completely up to date!! £28.95 is still showing as a debit on my electricity!!
I give in!! no wonder they make so much money..everyone is so confused they pay anything they ask!!!!!!

A massive thank you to tunnel for posting the social@scottishpower email address earlier in this topic.

I contacted them earlier this afternoon and have received a reply and my account at long last has been sorted. I had been given incorrect information on the two phonecalls I had made to SP, luckily I was able to give the name of the person I spoke to and the time of the last call, so they listened to this and they confirmed that the information was incorrect and they have written the £28.95 off.

A result at long last... thanks again. I hope EDF are easier to deal with.

2010 are you sorted yet?

Hi Katies mum,

Having been away from home all week, I`m just catching up now.
I can now view my gas bill when I log in to SP and it is correct along with my electric bill.
They owe me about £72 from my in credit balance so I will use that email tomorrow to try to get the refund paid direct into my bank account, although I cancelled my DD a week ago.
I`ll post what happens.

What`s wrong with that is, it`s a government cut of £50 approx. and nothing to do with EDF.
ALL customers are entitled to it but yet again the greedy energy suppliers are "at it" and people like you spouting nonsense are not helping but just encouraging them.
Everyone had the chance to fix so why should they be penalised.

A spokesperson for the Department of Energy and Climate Change said there was no ‘practical bar’ to savings being passed on to everyone.

‘We have announced a package that should lead to the households seeing an average saving of around £50 a year,’ he said.

‘There is no practical bar to these savings being passed on to consumers on fixed tariffs and our expectation is that all consumers will benefit from the £50 discount.'

Hi Katies mum, glad it worked/helped. I actually rang them yesterday but got fobbed off that they'd not had my final reading for electric from EDF yet suddenly they manage to pay me.

Just in case you'd like to give thanks to the original poster this is where I got the email ad from

2010, good luck with it, as stated, I cancelled my DD but they still paid straight in to my bank account
