  • Managed to get through to them on their phone number and have been told they'll investigate the revised offer and get back to me before 7pm this evening.

I got through on their normal phoner number: 0845 460 1064, but for info for others struggling to reach them there is a corporate section to their website with a different number listed that you might get more luck with: 020 7856 2445
  • They tell everyone that they will phone back after 6.00. But they close at 6.00 so they never phone back.

When questioned, they will usually say "yes we close at 6.00 but I willl personally go to the wearhouse to inspect the phone.."

Thanks H2OADE, I've now looked and can see i'm not alone. If only I'd looked here first.

Can this be made a sticky, on every board?
  • UPDATE............

Ok so I didn't get the return call last night and the line I got from the original call was almost identical to what Harvey wrote above - a well versed script / fob off from the sounds of it.

I called them again first thing this morning to chase them up, and was told "we'll call you before 1pm"..........to my surprise they have just called back and have now offered the full ammount originally quoted for the phone.

They've said the money will be transferreed in the next 3-5 working days.....to which I'm going to hold them to, and will be straight back on the phone should the money not appear!
  • When I asked why I never got phoned back I got told that the lady had to leave the office early.

I read on another forum (http://www.compareandrecycle.co.uk/forum/forums/73-Cash4phones) all sorts of wierd and wonderful excuses from this bunch of cowboys.

Just to let people know, tesco phone recycle (operated by 20/20 mobile) has just conned me by offering me half their original offer as my phone had a faulty screen and speaker, needless to say , the phone was in vgc with no faults when I sent it.:(
  • I had the same problems with cash4phones, although i rejected the first offer they sent me for 15! they agreed to pay the full £85.00 for the phone, although it says payment was sent on the 18/1/13 i have yet to receive anything by bank transfer! going to call them again in a bid to jog there memory! so unfair what this company are doing!!!

I went online to Cash4Phones, put in the IMEI number, and the online offer for my Blackberry 8520 was £54.

So, I accepted that, they sent me an envelope and I sent them the phone. I then got an email from them to say that the phone had "failed inspection" due to excessive wear and tear - there was nothing wrong with it, and it had never been dropped. Their revised offer was now £24, and if I didn't want to accept that, I'd have to pay £8.99 to get the phone back.

So I called them, and made it clear that if they didn't either pay the agreed sum, or return the phone at their expense, I'd sue them in the County Court.

They said they'd take another look, and came back with an improved offer of £45. It wasn't worth arguing over the last £9, so I accepted that and the money was in my account 10 days later.

My advice is to be very cautious about dealing with this mob.

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.
  • Hello,
I recently sold my Sony Ericsson xperia arc to cash 4 phones. They offered me £85.08 and never reduced their offer. Then sent email 17th Feb to say payment posted, though this did take the full 10 working days and between this time I had read several bad reviews and thought my phone was long gone and would be getting the funds. On the 8th working day I had rang, the guy took no details and then said it would be in my account the next morning, (as I work in a bank, I'd assumed there had been a system error and this is why he never took my details). No sign of money the next morning called again on the 9th working day and had a girl who took my reference and said my details were on the list for payment to arrive the next morning. I explained the previous call and my doubts of this however she said i would definitely get my money the next day. So to my surprise the money had in fact been paid into my account.

I do feel the company are trying to change but I may decide to check the company out before I recycle a mobile again. Hope this helps people.
  • If only, never a truer word!

Is it not about time that if they cannot be closed down, given the high number of complaints, a higher rated Google search entry enlightens others not to use cash4phones!

I recently sent my phone away, in working order and yes it did have some minor scuffs on the top edge where it poked out of the leather Blackberry cover of the phone. When I received the substantially lower offer than was indicated on the website, I opted to have it returned.

Imagine my horror when it arrived, in less packaging than it was sent with two large scratches on the rear!

Spoke to them who categorically said they have not done any damage and could offer no explanation.

Anyone know the best way for me to instigate legal action?
