Another Cash4Phones complaint...

Of course you can. I've done that several times and there's absolutely no reason that you can't. In any case, it's worth searching on here for the two companies; some have awful feedback and some the reverse. I believe "fonebank" has some of the best.0

Thankyou , i thought once you start the process off your locked into some sort of agreement ..0

No. Niether are they; they haven't actually agreed what they will pay you.0

I would change your mind if I were you!
Cash4phones are notorious for offering you a different amount (a lot lower) when you have sent the phone in. I was offered £40.40 then got an email saying there was excessive wear and tear (the phone was near perfect when I sent it) and offered me £26.42. I have had to pay £5 to get the phone back and I have not got it back yet nor had a reply to my email.
BEWARE!! I wish I had done more research on here before I sent it - there are a few different threads where people have had this problem!!

I sent off my *pristine* Galaxy Note on Saturday after being offered £222. I had a funky red case and a screen protector so it was in flawless condition.
Imagine my absolute dismay to see they have offered me £88!!! For significant wear and tear. Luckily I took many detailed photos of the phone before sending it away.
It is going to be "reassessed" but failing a satisfactory outcome, I will have to pay £4.95 to get the phone returned.
Googling around, it seems like its common practice for them and its a business model that seems to be working. A classic "bait and switch".
Check out the forums at compare and recycle. It seems its common practice for them to operate along these lines. Something must and will be done about this company.
I am most unhappy. I believe they are in the London Borough of Barnet - would Trading Standards be interested in a company that operates along these lines?0 -
We recently sent my husband's iphone 4 to cash4phones, again it was pristine it had had protective covers on from day 1 and the offer price was reduced by £100 for excessive wear and tear. When we questioned this it was increased back to almost the initial offer but 8 working days later the payment has not materialised.
Can't get through by phone, it rings out for a while then cuts off and my email today received a form response about how busy they are. Very frustrated and considering trading standards.:mad:0 -
I always go to CEX shop to sell. They usually buy at higher value. And you can change your mind after they tell you what much they pay. Alternatively, ebay will usually sell at higher price then these cash for phone website.0

After upgrading last week I had to dispose of my old mobile. The above website offered me the highest price of £81 for a 'working' handset, or about £25 for 'not working' handset.
My handset works as well as it did the day i got it! the screen is still perfect, the only minor ware is on the phone is the plastic rim, where a small bit of metallic plastic trim is chipped.
I've sent in off to them in a protective case and they have emailed saying that due to excessive ware they will only give me £32!!!! I was livid because at no point did even MENTION, that alone ask anything about the condition of the phone.
So I wanted to reject their offer and just get my phone back (i know i could easily get £60-70 on ebay in current condition), BUT if i reject their offer they want to charge me £8.95 just to return it! Totally gutted!!!
The whole thing is a complete scam! They probably do this to every customer, nobody wants to pay £8.95 for nothing so just accept this awful offer.
Anyone else used them? or know of a genuine company i could use in future?0 -
Take a look through this forum, I think they must hold the record for complaints concerning the recycling of mobile phones. I have not met anybody who was paid what they were offered. I think it is high time that this Company were investigated. I have made that suggestion to Ripped of Britain the BBC TV program. Perhaps if enough of us made the suggestion they might do it.0

Thanks H2OADE, I've now looked and can see i'm not alone. If only I'd looked here first. I have paid them the £8.95 to get the phone back, hopefully it won't take too long and be in the same condition as when i sent it.
I have also reported them to watchdog.0
