try to recall freezer used ups, piece of pork for Sunday/Monday, got some liver out yesterday but friend offered 2 y.s. pies so liver today, had 2 scallops on Saturday, out all day Friday, can`t recall anything else.
Do I need it or just want it.

I have used up most of three curries that had been frozen at New Year and we had with naan bread from the store cupboard. I also got some beef skirt out and made a casserole with dried chick peas, frozen tomatoes and seasoning, all from stores. Had it with the last of the carrots (lurking in the fridge and on the verge of going slimy) and some broccoli. I might make broccoli and cheese soup as I have most of a bag of wonky shallots and a small piece of stilton (maybe from Christmas :o) and lots of other cheese to add to two heads of broccoli from at least a week ago. I still need to shop today or tomorrow, to top up a couple of things but trying to eke it out an extra day

  • Used the sausage meat I had bought at Xmas to make sausage balls, now nearly all eaten, want to make some lentil soup and may make some other sort of red lentil meal, bought plenty when on special !! you know what I mean. Bought a turkey drumstick, now cooked so some of that will go into freezer, finished off one pack of frozen blueberries in breakfast porridge and half way down next, finished hot x buns but bought more, almost out of bread so will make one with pkt in cupboard, will use some of the stuffing I also bought for Xmas and checked the breadcrumbs that had been in cupboard ages and they had gone mouldy so they were thrown away. Seems to be very in and out.

Operation Eat All The Food In The Cupboards has commenced for us in preparation for a possible move for us.

I have plenty of stuff to use up - such as two jars of mincement but only want to eat mince pies at Christmas time. So I made a cake one jar instead. It's delicious, doesn't taste specifically like Christmas and I'm sure it will feature on our menu from now on!

    I have:
One jar of mincemeat (Will do as above)
    Cranberry sauce,
    Sweet Chilli Sauce
Ground Almonds (probably 500g). Bakewell tart doesn't actually use that much :( I wonder if it could be used as a coating for chicken, perhaps?

to use up, if anyone has any idea

You can make pastry with ground almonds - an example (with good explanation of the pastry-making and baking) is this BBC recipe

  • Half pkt of diced swede used for soup yesterday, other half tonight as mash, asparagus and Tenderstem broc all out of freezer, using half so the rest going back in. Only 1 pkt blueberries left in freezer when I have finished this one. Will need bread but will make own instead of buying, may have some part baked rolls in freezer, will have a search and use them instead.

I blended the last of the roast beef’s veggies with beef broth with some leftover Lipton chicken noodle soup (I know that sounds weird but I didn’t want to throw it out and it was sure a little dab) and used canned tomatoes, hamburger, chopped onion; cumin+garlic powder+coriander and diced hot Hatch green chile to make green chile stew.

Since I was on a roll, I grabbed a box of brownie mix and added chopped walnuts (I’d had them for over a year) to the batter. My husband got to lick the bowl etc. He’s happy.

I don’t want to make flour tortillas so I may have him pick some up after church.
I’ll make cheese quesadillas to go with the stew.
Overprepare, then go with the flow.
