Eating out of the freezer and cupboards challenge - part two
Comments

Yesterday, I stayed in due to being uninterested in doing a weekend shop. Lots of thinking about my online (food) grocery order due this week and too much time in the kitchen.

Food ingredients used up = 20
Recipes used up = 45
The fridge is now full again, as in by using up my ingredients and creating something else from them, they then result in something much bigger, so longer to use up!

The slow cooked venison is now portioned and back in the freezer, it made the basis for 11 individual meals.
Went shopping this morning, fruit, veg, and sm salmon now in fridge, 5 pork chops, milk and a loaf in the freezer, some bits in the cupboard.
I'm determined not to go shopping until next Monday and make do with what I have. I think I should be OK.
Decided to make more brown bread icecream with the frozen crusts. Eggs not a problem as I have chooks, and I've enough cream in the fridge from last week. Still not sure what to do with the white crusts - any ideas welcome????0 -
out - end of a pack of peas, left over beef stew, left over turkey and bacon pie

7th August update :-
Again, lots of time-consuming kitchen tasks like defrosting the freezer, rearranging/sorting out its drawers and meal preparations for the day and week. One drawer is now empty. Also, have provisionally booked my (food) grocery order.

Yesterday, three recipes and one of the ingredients used up went to the wild birds; food items previously acquired for free.

I have been gradually using up lots of food from my freezer over the last couple of weeks, having two extra children home from university helps a lot.
I had nearly emptied the outside freezer with a view to defrosting it.
Then I noticed that the local blackberries were ready, my freezer is stuffed to bursting with pounds of blackberries now!
Still, if I hadn't emptied it then there would not have been any room for them.:)0 -
IN: Chilli chips, frozen veggies, chicken, stock, green beans, carrots, broccoli
OUT: Chicken, mushrooms, onions, veggies, Yorkshire puddings, tomatoes
I'm not doing very well. Haha.
Tonight I'm going to do sausages, with carrot and parsnip mash and onion gravy. DH is type 1 diabetic so have to minimise carbs at night (when you most want them!) which can be tricky when thinking of new meals. I'm trying to think of new ideas whilst still hacking away at my mountains of frozen mince.
Hope everyone's having a good week so far. 0 -
I have done appallingly at this recently - too many bargains that couldn't be missed!
I have now meal planned for the next 10 days till we go on holiday - only allowing fresh veg to be bought. Family have been informedI have a massive freezer full of food but none of it seems to be what we fancy so when it is back under control then I will apply some 'but will we ever eat it' filters to the 'it is a bargain' process!
