Fruit in Jelly is a regular favourite in this house and a good way of using up fruit . Tired oranges or grapes perk up well in orange or lime jelly. Blackcurrants, redcurrants, blackberries go well in blackcurrant jelly but may need a little sweetening with sugar in a little syrup first. Tinned pineapples go well in jelly BUT DONT USE FRESH PINEAPPLE BECAUSE THE ENZYMES IN IT DESTROY THE GELATINE AND IT WON't Set. (discovered this the hard way!). Use any fruit syrup in which the sugar has been dissolved as part of the one pint liquid used for making the jelly.

Oooh, silly me! Fruit and jelly, of course!
And not only that, but I have some grapes to be used up, and a couple of nectarines. And a few blueberries left on the shrub in the garden. Yay!

    The jelly cheesecake sounds intriguing - I must investigate. . . .

Received my online (food) grocery order yesterday so have been updating my food inventory records. Also, ordered a couple of food "speciality" ingredients. Purchased enough UHT milk for the month. I split the delivery costs with somebody else who intends the next order to be in two weeks. This is quite a gap to enable using up my existing food; that is if I make none of my own extra purchases?

No (food) spend days = 8/10.

I know it doesn't look like it, but I have been making great dents into store cupboard stuff. Honest. Ok, and BREATH..........
    IN
    plant milk
    2 x packs vegan burgers & pies
    2 x passata
    1 x cocoa
    1 x sweet chilli sauce
    1 x golden syrup (hell yeah !!)
    2 x tins chilli beans
    2 x tins chickpeas
    1 x coffee
    1 x carrots
    20 long sweet peppers
5 huge mushrooms (the size of a cap !!!!)
    1 x tomato puree
    1 x vanilla extract
    grapes
    foraged blackberries
    wraps & cob bread
    OUT
    Soup, fruit

I always keep a running supply of fruit, veg & salad stuff, but really have gone overboard on the peppers. They were 20 for £1 and I have a load in the fridge. Does anyone know if they would roast in2 sweet peppers, they are the yellow long ones. I do use them in stews, curries & salads. Also any ideas what to do with some aubergine - I really have not had much success.

No (food) spend days = 9/11.

Went out today checking how ready the local blackberries were. Still maybe a week to go before a full crop is ready but picked approximately 100-200gr blackberries (including blackcurrants). These are now in the freezer. Currently, I do not feel motivated to do my usual local food shopping.
